What do you yearn for?

Ever since I can remember, I've wanted a beautiful home. It doesn't have to be grand or fancy. Somewhere rural, quiet, safe, and enough bedrooms so me and the dc can have one each. An extra room for a yoga studio/sewing room would be the icing on the cake. A decent garden, flat and secure, and full of plants.

I've lived my entire life in council flats and I know I'm incredibly lucky to have a roof over my head. Even so, I still spend hours nosing on rightmove or looking at other people's houses and imagining what it would be like to live there.

The (married and unavailable) guy that tiled my bathroom

for just once, one single time in my life, that my car just passes it’s bleeding MOT instead of costing me £1000000000 every single time

a mixed bag of desires really..

I feel you on the MOT. I have a friend whose car is one year newer than mine who always says 'MOT is just £60'.

My last one cost me just under £600 Confused

On that note, one of my dreams is to own a brand new car. Never in my life have I ever had one, my parents also had old bangers.

Why are people nostalgic for the 90's? What was better than it is now? Genuine question

I was a child having my meals cooked for me and not a bill to pay Grin.

Santa was real, my school day was finished at 1.45 and I had hours to play and do what I liked until dinner time.

I always wanted enough money to be able to make the people I care about comfortable and be able to help random people just because I could.

So, I made it happen. Now I'm working on trying to benefit an entire generation because our children deserve it.

@cassiastatham I was a teen in the 90s. No responsibilities, had a lovely family and friends. Went to gigs and the pub, had time to do the things I wanted to do.
The future was all stretched out ahead of me - would I go to uni? What job would I do? Where would I travel to? Who would I marry/have kids with?
Now I’m middle aged, with a spare tire and aging parents and a demanding job and family life. It’s my job to look after others and I don’t have the answers (I fake confidence 😂) I’m more tired and weary for the future. Hence the yearning. Boo.

Allmyarseandpeggymartin · 13/03/2023 22:25

Also continuing on the 90s theme - by the middle of the decade we had despatched the Tories, we had a much younger more dynamic leader in Blair (well we all thought so at the time) we were over the recession at the start of the 90s and there was such a optimism generally, there was all that Cool Britannia stuff too

It doesn’t even has to look god

Just has to not hurt

dudsville · 13/03/2023 23:28

I'm reading this and thinking that i don't yearn. There are things i would be happy to have that i don't but I'm pretty content.

The man I cannot have

Nowthatlovehasperished · 13/03/2023 23:52

To experience romance and true connection with a handsome man. Would like to know how it feels to be adored.

You sound great @Allmyarseandpeggymartin wish we could find a time machine and all go back to the 90's, like Tardis flight

cassiastatham · 14/03/2023 14:34

stardustpixy · 14/03/2023 14:40

Our son back who we lost in 2021

ilovebagpuss · 14/03/2023 14:47

My Mum
Some savings enough to just have a holiday every year without thinking about it just " oh it's January lets book a holiday"
A fabulous beach with clear blue warm sea.

I am fortunate in lots of ways, but hey it would be nice to have it ALL.

iwantchinese · 14/03/2023 14:53

A happy and equal relationship.. not me doing everything and being so burnt out i could cry.

Enough money to do everything me and my children want too and not have to count every penny and to move house to a nice area and to own it.

A relaxing day on my own and a lay in😂!( don't think i'll be having one of these for atleast 10-15 years 😂
