What do you yearn for?

Ever since I can remember, I've wanted a beautiful home. It doesn't have to be grand or fancy. Somewhere rural, quiet, safe, and enough bedrooms so me and the dc can have one each. An extra room for a yoga studio/sewing room would be the icing on the cake. A decent garden, flat and secure, and full of plants.

I've lived my entire life in council flats and I know I'm incredibly lucky to have a roof over my head. Even so, I still spend hours nosing on rightmove or looking at other people's houses and imagining what it would be like to live there.

A better car. I have a car. Runs fine, smells like a bad foot and is covered in dings.

CleaningOutMyCloset · 12/03/2023 22:40

For my neighbour yo sell us his acre of land next to our house

To retire early (55)

jackstini · 12/03/2023 22:45

Retirement. Sick and tired of work politics
Some days I love it - most I just think I could be doing so much better stuff

People to wake up and realise in order to improve the world we all have to do better, be better, take responsibility

Just one bloody decent non alcoholic wine! How can we do astrophysics and nuclear energy creation, but not be able to create something that tastes exactly like Chardonnay with zero alcohol

Qwaszx · 12/03/2023 22:49

Peace.

But that would involve the demise of my arsehole neighbour.

I live in hope😁

Johnisafckface · 12/03/2023 22:57

My youth and my health

To live somewhere quiet, surrounded by fields and trees and flowers. God, how I wish I could live an ideal rural existence, the sort of thing you see in Postman Pat, or the old David Jason series the Darling Buds of May. I wish there weren’t so many human beings. I hate noise and cars and stress. I hate screeching boy racers waking me up three in the morning. I hate being surrounded by ghastly little new build homes, all squeezed on top of one another. Sometimes I feel like I can’t feckin breathe.

I yearn to live in a detached house in Norfolk or Surrey (but with far fewer human beings around me). I’d have a conservatory filled with flowers and books, and do nothing all day but walk in the country, watch the seasons change, and immerse myself in Dickens and P G Wodehouse and Jane Austen. The nearest neighbours would be 200 yards away, and they’d be smiley and kind, but not noisy or intrusive.

Recently, I've been yearning for simpler times. I'd like it to be the 60s, 70s & 80s again, before the Internet and before computers and mobile phones.

RJnomore1 · 12/03/2023 23:08

To be young again. I have everything else I could possibly want, but approaching 50 scares me. There’s not enough time left, and so much I still want to do.

Thatwastheweekthatwasnt · 12/03/2023 23:09

A hug

Thisisformathilda · 12/03/2023 23:10

Silence.

Raera · 12/03/2023 23:12

More grandchildren please ❤️

Allmyarseandpeggymartin · 12/03/2023 23:14

The 90s when life was so much simpler and the music was better

butterfliedtwo · 12/03/2023 23:17

The world before covid happened. My grandad's hugs. Å

Escapetofrance · 12/03/2023 23:20

For someone to really love me.

Patsyanna · 12/03/2023 23:28

World peace. A solution to climate change.

maddy68 · 12/03/2023 23:30

Absolutely nothing. If I want something I do everything within my power to make it happen. I genuinely don't want "things". But do value deep friendships, travel and experiences

newroundhere · 12/03/2023 23:31

A break. A day to myself. A whole day of nothing, when no one needed me to do anything. That would be bliss.

GoAgainstNicki · 12/03/2023 23:32

To win the lottery and to never worry about money again.

For my son to be healthy and have a good quality of life.

For us to have somewhere permanent to live.

These are all things I think of daily and really do yearn for

SkiingIsHeaven · 12/03/2023 23:34

Peace and quiet and a week to myself.

Jas5mum · 12/03/2023 23:39

Answers and a diagnosis of whats wrong with my son-ADHD, aspergers etc and a plan of what we can do to help get it undee control.

I want exactly this too.

AnyFucker · 12/03/2023 23:41

For time to slow down. But only in the spring, summer and autumn.

BillyDeanisnotmylover · 12/03/2023 23:44

I yearn for long, warm summers. Fields of hay and first love.

MelchiorsMistress · 12/03/2023 23:52

More sunshine and proper warmth in the air.
