Nicest/not nice celebs.

1000 replies

bazzabas · 10/03/2023 11:58

Who is the nicest celeb you've met?

On the flip side who was not nice?

I had a friend who met Girl's Aloud after she won a competition.

They waited hours to met them, waiting for them to arrive.

Apparently Nadine was lovely, chatted and genuinely seemed interested to meet them.

Sarah & Nicola not so nice, very mardy and diva-ish.

I always think Stacey Solomon seems lovely - never met her but she seems like a good'un

Skyellaskerry · 10/03/2023 13:44

That would have made my day!

I met him many years ago at the height of his fame, he was indeed lovely and very good looking too

RosaMoline · 10/03/2023 15:27

I’ve met Cliff Parisi (CTM) too & he is wonderful!
Emma Thompson is an absolute sweetheart.
Hugh Grant and Colin Firth v v nice

Will someone please confirm that David Tennant is lovely...and don't if he isn't.

I don't know him but met him at a convention - DD1's birthday present - he was told it was her birthday so when we came in (photo op) he dropped down on one knee, opened his arms wide and shouted her name - then gave her a hug and wished her happy birthday - so he was very lovely to us - also smelled really nice!

Wilkolampshade · 10/03/2023 15:28

Paul McCartney, grim, but so surrounded by an obsequious entourage it wasn't surprising he behaved like a twat.
Phil Jupitus, cleverer, quieter and more thoughtful than I would have thought. But it was in a library, so maybe he was on best behaviour.
Andre Marr, cross and a bit rude.
The ugly one from Hairy Bikers, bit of a poppet.
Numerous classical soloists, all highly professional but frequently a bit odd - in a good way...focussed and concentrated. Lovely to back stage staff.

RosaMoline · 10/03/2023 15:29

I’m envious of the PP who met Kathy Burke. She’s an absolute legend.

Justalittlebitduckling · 10/03/2023 15:29

Maybe they were premenstrual/exhausted/ill etc and if your friend had met them on a different day it would have been the other way round.

Lifeomars · 10/03/2023 15:29

Caviarandgelatine · 10/03/2023 14:28

I worked in a theatre so met a lot, but Kathy Burke stands out as the nicest. She's exactly as you would imagine - very down to earth, chatted to everyone, remembered everybody's name. Plenty of celebs were pleasant enough but she was on a different level.

So pleased to read this, I love her and would have been gutted to find out she was a horror!

Crikeyalmighty · 10/03/2023 15:30

@Murraydeservedit absolutely- Boy George and Morrissey being the exceptions!

One thing I learnt very early on was that artists like being talked to like humans- I've had conversations about peoples families, holidays, cars , politics and they like a bloody normal conversation . It gets tiresome if people act daft around you and constantly blow smoke up your arse.

AreMyDucksinarow · 10/03/2023 15:30

My dad knew Alan Rickman and he was absolutely lovely 🥰

Crikeyalmighty · 10/03/2023 15:31

@Caviarandgelatine I wouldn't imagine anything less. A truly lovely lady I bet.

RubiesandRose · 10/03/2023 15:31

I've said it on MN before and I'll say it again Nick Knowles rude arshole! Knowingly queue jumped me by flashing a wad of cash, with a I know you know who I am look on his face.

Elliania · 10/03/2023 15:31

Andy Serkis was really funny & very kind.

Michael York was a complete sweetheart, very polite to all the fans who came to meet him & refused to go to have his lunch until he was sure that the 2 publicity girls who were with him for the day were taken care of food-wise.

Toby Stephens - very nice. Quite quiet.

Rik Mayall - seemed genuinely pleased to chat to people, not sure if he was just playing up the OTT laddish character or if that's how he was. But still very kind when I met him.

Apairofsparklingeyes · 10/03/2023 15:31

Robert ‘judge’ Rinder is lovely.
Sheridan Smith is very patient, kind and friendly with people wanting autographs at the stage door!
One of my DC met Amanda Holden recently and said she’s very nice.

Lochjeda · 10/03/2023 15:32

Oh I also met Amy Childs from Towie in Ibiza in 2021 and she was an absolute sweetheart.

The Jonathan Creek man, Alan Davies(?) is apparently awful. A friend of mine was somewhere and he was there and again, some children approached him and he bollocked their parent for allowing them to go near him.

He is. He bit a homeless man's ear once. Apparently because he was grief stricken after losing a friend.

I've lost a lot of people and I still fail to see the connection.

It disgusts me to see him on tv after that. Likewise Boy George.

I know a chap who does a lot of work as an Extra - he’s been in everything from Eastenders to Mission Impossible. He was in an episode of Jonathan Creek a few years back and says that of the celebs he’s ever worked with Alan Davies was the worst. He was rude, arrogant and foul mouthed and made hell for all the cast and crew.

and I also know a chap who owns a hotel near a well regarded regional theatre. Alan Davies stayed there one year after a show and my mate said he was so rude and nasty to staff that the following year they didn’t accept his booking when he tried to stay there again.

Thank you so much, I was sure he was, but you never know. I have such a crush on him.

UncleHerbie · 10/03/2023 15:34

Johnny Vegas - met him in at John Lewis Stratford. We got chatting (long, pre Christmas wrapping paper queue) about ceramics as he studied this a university, as did my niece. I cheekily asked for a selfie and he then asked his wife to take it of us, to which she graciously obliged. Totally charming and smelled amazing

Bill Nighy - seen twice: first time pacing while on the phone on New Bond Street; second time in Vivienne Westwood Leeds. I was on crutches and he couldn’t have been more courteous if he tried. Also smelled amazing

George Michael - got his autograph backstage at an event. He was fabulous. Lulu was also there giving off the “Don’t you know who I am?” vibe. I blanked her

Pre-fame Damien Lewis - birthday drinks of a mutual (work) pal. I asked how they knew each other. He said from school. I asked which school. DL replied “Eton”. I turned to my friend and said “Like fuck did you go Eton!?” Blushing slightly he admitted that he did. Whoops! I just grinned it out. DL was very nice and TALL

Crikeyalmighty · 10/03/2023 15:35

@Wilkolampshade I didn't think this about McCartney at all. It can be really difficult if you have a big team with you for whatever reason and it's stressful situation . These people can be very different in a different situation/time or on their own. My H met spike Milligan a few times including at his house and he was just the loveliest most hospitable and warm man, but could be a nightmare if put in a stressful situation.

Bumped into a couple of well known extras on Eastenders in a club in Covent Garden, and I hugged them and they asked me how I was etc then it got awkward as I didn't want to pester then so I went off with my mate. But yeah they were really friendly.

Were they Tracey and Big Ron?

Neil Morrisey is an acquaintance of mine. He drinks in a local pub, we have friends in common and I have his phone number!

He's a lovely man, very down to earth and a bit like his character Tony in Men Behaving Badly ie a bit cheeky but likeable.

About 15 years ago I was showing a visitor around my home town, standing outside a window of an old pub, pointing in to show her some lovely original features, (should have just gone inside, but didn't think of that at the time) when a man at a window table smiled and gave me a little wave. I recognised him with a shock as Neil Morrissey, and was quite mortified that he must have thought I had been pointing in at him. I think I just quickly smiled back and hustled away, but I did think that he was lovely to have reacted that way to two loopy middle-aged women whom he must have thought were trying quite rudely to get his attention when he was enjoying a quiet drink with friends.

Crikeyalmighty · 10/03/2023 15:37

@UncleHerbie one of the musos I know always smelled amazing and I asked him what he used. It was something from penhaligons and he told me that people always asked him what it was!!

OldTinHat · 10/03/2023 14:11

Stephen Mulhern. Arrogant, rude and entitled.

Dom Wood from Dick and Dom. An absolute darling and total gentleman.

Oh I met Dom Wood too, such a lovely man.

threeplusmum · 10/03/2023 15:38

@ImpartialMongoose

No it was Winston and shrimpy (sorry don't know their real names) but yeah they were really down to earth.

Robbie Coltrane was a boisterous and engaging raconteur and also a right shortarse!

Robbie Coltrane hit in my sister at a party or event or whatever, persistently and annoyingly.
