Nicest/not nice celebs.

Who is the nicest celeb you've met?

On the flip side who was not nice?

I had a friend who met Girl's Aloud after she won a competition.

They waited hours to met them, waiting for them to arrive.

Apparently Nadine was lovely, chatted and genuinely seemed interested to meet them.

Sarah & Nicola not so nice, very mardy and diva-ish.

The worst was Claudia Winkleman and Michael Ball. She was OK during rehearsal, during the live show, all she wants to do is put herself in front of you. Michael Ball is so up himself, I was bored talking to him.

The nicest, Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber, he even showed me round his house. Lots of others I've worked with, too many to mention.

lieselotte · 12/03/2023 20:39

Not me, but one of DH's colleagues (this was some years ago) was at school with Laurence Fox and said he was an arse.

I guess sometimes leopards don't change their spots.

Norachance · 12/03/2023 20:39

Forgot
Mohammed Al Fayed - when he was at Fulham. A really lovely kind man, so sweet with my son.

Years ago through work I met
Kim Wilde - lovely
Glynis Barber - lovely
Nick Kamen ( Levi's) - lovely
Gloria Hunniford - quite standoffish
Simon Le Bon - an absolute sweetheart
Prince Charles - lovely

I'm impressed you met Glynis Barber as I loved Blakes 7 as a child!

PomRuns · 12/03/2023 20:44

Humble is a nice characteristic- much better than being smug/obnoxious

only ever hear forelock mentioned on MN and so frequently too…

salutsandy · 12/03/2023 20:45

I've met Michael Brandon (Glynis Barber's husband) and he was a really lovely and kind man

WalkingOnTheCracks · 12/03/2023 20:45

I was very young, and now I'm older than most people here, so I will touch very few MN hearts when I say that Frank Muir was not only my hero, but also quite wonderful.

The only celeb I've ever met is Sir Stanley Matthews and he was absolutely delightful.

I am friends with a cousin of Declan Donnelly who assures me Dec is lovely.

We are of an age,I met Sir Tom Finney, Sir Stan's friendly nemesis equally nice.

I am not surprised at this!!! He does seem nice

I see both him and Alan Davies often (not together!) when I am walking my dog. Ricky Gervais is lovely (especially to my dog). Alan Davies who has his own dog never even cracks a smile (which is unusual amongst doggy people!)

Johnny Vegas is brilliant - he stood chatting with us in a pub for hours once

Joanna Lumley is absolutely lovely. As is Phil Spencer.

Gordon Ramsey nice but “on” if that makes sense.

Clare Balding is really really nice. A genuinely nice person.

Lots of c-list comedians (8 out of 10 cats types) either really mardy or just a bit quiet

Johnny Vegas met my son in the pub. He asked him to join him and his friends. They had an amazing evening. Son said he’s just the most lovely man.

ladygindiva · 12/03/2023 20:52

Laurence Llewellyn Bowen, very nice and "ordinary" as was his wife.

melonraspberry · 12/03/2023 20:53

Elton John very friendly kind and not arrogant at all

ladygindiva · 12/03/2023 20:54

Oh and my mum was sat next to Keith Barron ( for older mners 😂)on a flight once, and said he was really really lovely.

Tabitha1960 · 12/03/2023 20:59

In a professional capacity I had to spend the best part of a day with Dan Snow. I was surprised at how ordinary and down to earth he is especially as he is married to an earl's daughter. He wore scruffy old jeans, an old tee shirt and well-worn trainers. He acted very "laddish" and "one of the boys" with his camera and sound crew, who repeatedly ragged him and made him the butt of all their jokes and banter, which he smiled and laughed along with in a self-deprecating way. I really liked that about him.

Not a whiff or arrogance or superiority about him.

chezzabee80 · 12/03/2023 20:59

Liam Gallagher cool, chatty and patient, kiefer sutherland seemed really warm hearted and spoke for longer than needed to really friendly and Russell brand seemed nice and kind. Haven't met anyone that has came across as not nice.

Makemineamonster · 10/03/2023 13:34

Heather Peace. Really arrogant, cringeworthingly so...

Heard that about her years ago (Londons Burning long). Obviously hasn't changed.

Alexa51 · 12/03/2023 21:11

Andy from CBBC (the good-looking one) In Andy's Dinosaurs. So nice and friendly and seems just like he is on TV. He lives in Bristol and lots of people see him about. Everyone says the same - he always stops and chats and is v friendly.

Sorry to disappoint everyone on here, but Will Young is indeed an arse. A friend of mine knew him as he was at uni with one of her mates. Completely entitled and up himself..Well known for it apparently.

A friend worked in a shop in Manchester and confirmed Liz Dawn (Vera Duckworth) was a regular and v nice.

LeilaDarling · 12/03/2023 21:13

Sheridan Smith is very sweet, shy and extremely talented.
Ray Winstone lovely gentleman.

Tabitha1960 · 12/03/2023 21:15

My ex told me about the time he met Joanna Lumley.

He was a musician and was invited to a conductor's house near Kennington to discuss an upcoming concert. A woman answered the door and my ex thought, "blimey, she looks just like Joanna Lumley." He did not think she was, though.

Anyway, she was very humble, helpful and kind, and ushered him in, took his wet coat and hung it up, made him a coffee, wet back to the kitchen to fetch biscuits, invited him to sit, plumped up a cushion for him and brought a small towel for his wet hair. She asked him about himself, what instrument he played, etc, and said nothing about herself.

It was only when her husband appeared after about 10 minutes and called her "Jo" that my ex realised to his amazement that she really WAS Joanna Lumley.

Phillip schofield is a very rude man.
I agree about Lawrence LB- really up himself and sleezy.

Michael Owen was lovely to meet though

I’d expect that of Philip Schofield. When I see him on TV, he sets my teeth on edge.

Juliette Lewis. Was at her gig, in a pretty small Irish venue. Was outside the front for a cigarette, the main smoking area was inside and really packed. Was all punked up in knee high new ricks and my most loved short kilt. She came out, I said, 'hey bitch give me a hug'. The bouncer beside her was about to get rid of me, intrad, she gave me a big hug and sent him in to get me a free Juliette and the Licks T shirt. Bonafide legend.

On my 25th, in a smaller section of a larger club in the same, smaller Irish city, Leroy from the prodigy was playing. I was celebrating my 25th birthday with friends. Was headbanging like a made yoke, near where he was playing. The bouncer yelled at me to get back. Leroy told him to back off. Sat outside with him and a friend, super shy, down to earth guy.

Worked in the music industry in Berlin, so met a lot of big name techno DJs, some really sound, some complete egomaniacs.

Supergirl1958 · 12/03/2023 21:24

Met Steve Cram when I was a gamesmaker! He was an arrogant arsehole!

met Alistair griffin (of fame academy fame) who was just an absolute darling!!

Yes David Tennant is lovely, very down to earth

Bob Geldof. Rude, disgusting and smelly man.

Paula Yeats once wrote in an article that he never bathed.
