Nicest/not nice celebs.

Who is the nicest celeb you've met?

On the flip side who was not nice?

I had a friend who met Girl's Aloud after she won a competition.

They waited hours to met them, waiting for them to arrive.

Apparently Nadine was lovely, chatted and genuinely seemed interested to meet them.

Sarah & Nicola not so nice, very mardy and diva-ish.

Obviously the two of you like different types.

I think they're both . . . less than handsome.

Not the point at all. This isn't a "crush" thread, and the slebs mentioned on here are (generally) not being judged by their attractiveness - which is, of course, subjective.

It's just pretty horrible to describe someone - anyone - as ugly.

I googled the HBs and couldn't tell which one was the one being described. Neither was ugly.

I remember, from the dangerous bully dog thread!

I'd forgotten that.

Well, I'm sure I don't remember every interaction with every poster.

Of all my celeb encounters my absolute favourite is Michael Ball.

I ran into him, literally, about 20 years ago. At the time I was a lowly paid overworked media bod. I was having a dreadful, stressful day and was running from a recording studio to my office through the back streets of Soho. I literally ploughed straight into Michael Ball as he stepped out of a stage door onto the pavement. I automatically pulled my hands up in preparation for a fall and fell onto him, my hands onto his chest. He enveloped me with his arms to stop me from falling onto the pavement. He must have held me for a few seconds as my momentum ran out.

The conversation went something like
“are you ok?”
“Yes sorry, sorry”
“Who are you running from?”
”No I’m late”
”Better let you go! Be careful, don’t hurt yourself!”

And I ran off and turned around and he smiled at me then got in his waiting car.

At the time his accidental hug and genuine concern meant so much to me because I was struggling with so much in my life and job. 20 years later I can still feel his lovely chunky teddy bear arms protecting me and the incident still makes me smile. Lovely lovely man.

Did he smell nice @12FreeRangeEggs? I imagine he smells lovely!!

Alexa51 · 12/03/2023 16:44

@salcombebabe well, he's a good crush to have. So lovely. Think he was quite big in Spooks at the time (and I think, also going out with Kylie Minogue) but hanging out at a student house party in a very unassuming way (apart from his golden aura of course!) So charming.

Unlike Nick Knowles who I saw hanging out in quite an exclusive hotel/bar. He was clearly there with his production team (little minions kept running over to get things for him/ask him things.) However, he was sitting on his own in the middle of the bar - literally posing and peacocking and flicking his hair as if he thought everyone was watching him. Really looked like he was talking down to them and being dismissive. I mean, the guy's pushing 60 and he was on DIY SOS at the time. Total loser. A friend works in TV and said he is hands down the rudest celeb she's ever met.

Also had a brief chat to Cameron Mackintosh as ended up at a cast party for Miss Saigon. I was very drunk and a friend dared me to go up and introduce myself and say how amazing Miss Saigon was. I cringe when I think of barging into his conversation with important people to say how good it was. He's clearly quite a luvvie, but to be fair to him he humoured me, wasn't rude, and I was being a complete idiot. He did kind of speak through gritted teeth though lol.

Used to go to a theatre workshop with Anthony Cotton (Corrie) years years years ago. He had been on TV once and was utterly repulsive then. Sooo above himself that if you spoke to him (and hadn't been on TV yourself) he literally would not reply to you and look down his nose at you. He was a dancer and I remember doing a showcase with him where we all did an act - he kept running off and then back on to the stage again to try and get more applause. He was dressed in rags pretending to be Michael jackson from thriller (as you can see the horrendous image has never left me!) Bumped into him years later with another celeb who i had also known at the time (and was nice) She said " Do you remember....." Once again, looked me up and down, reacted as if he had smelt something bad and said he had to go. Hilarious really, but seriously, the guy is a complete bellend.

Anna Friel went there too. She was the same. They hung around in a group and again, if you ever dared to speak to her she either wouldn't reply or would just be extremely rude and walk off. They all did it. If you spoke, they would stop, pause to show you'd inconvenienced them, and then would decide if they were going to speak or not. This was after one TV appearance on a crappy kids show. I dread to think what they are like now.

Forgot to post yesterday... After Ds2 saw Victoria yesterday at Crufts he managed to get into the CH4 room with Clare Balding and got his photo with her and taught her how to sign Dog!!!!

My cousin knew Paul McCartney when she owned/ran a recording studio. He was always very lovely and down to earth.
He was recording when John Lennon was shot so it was very tough for them all…

Family member used to work in Soho close to where Paul McCartney had an office. Said they often saw him in the local sandwich shop buying his lunch and that he was always pleasant to people. I worry that if I was a celeb I would be horrible and entitled and screech at people to go and pick up my lunch and if I did go to get my own sandwich and people spoke to me I might tell them to eff off! Just as well I am untroubled by looks and talent😂

JFM27 · 12/03/2023 17:48

Amanda Redman is married to my second cousins son,met her at his grandparents diamond wedding party, she was lovely very down to earth and friendly.

FreddieMercurysCat · 12/03/2023 17:55

I met Adam Woodyatt (Ian Beale) he was a right arse and alsothe chap who played Boycie in Only Fools & Horses who was a total live. BIL chauffeured (on behalf of Bentley) briefly for Gordon & Tana Ramsey - he said they were proper nice. A work colleague got to meet Olly Murs (she was a super fan) said he was a total twat and was devastated.

I worked with them & have opposite experience. Sarah & Cheryl really lovely & genuine. Nadine totally up herself & Nicola just very aloof/ shy??? Kimberley - vanilla.
Tamsin outhwaite was disappointingly bitchy too..

bobster31 · 12/03/2023 18:02

Heather Mills-McCartney and Gordon Ramsay both really lovely people despite what they are perceived to be like. John Thompson from the Fast Show, Cold Feet etc. - unbelievably rude and arrogant

ConfusingTrousers · 12/03/2023 18:04

Stewart Lee didn't want to do a photo but he looked like the idea genuinely stressed him so it's definitely fair enough. However I said something randomly about liking The Fall and he chatted about them for ages. He has such a sweet, enthusiastic smile.

Belleoverandover · 12/03/2023 18:05

Nicest: Colin Baker (Doctor Who) giving my baby daughter her bottle so I could drink my coffee hot. Meeting John and Carole Chalis (Boycie from Only fools and Horses) in Blackpool they were lovely! Nicola Bryant (Doctor Who). Keith Flint (Prodigy) who came to see if my friend and I were ok In Leicester Square (my friend had been dumped by her boyfriend).

Not so nice. Tony Blackburn telling my then boyfriend to F off when he said excuse me my girlfriend thinks you're amazing (not anymore). Heather Locklear who I sat next to on a flight and she made our time miserable by being a total diva

ReformedWaywardTeen · 12/03/2023 18:06

I second Miquita Oliver, she was so disgracefully rude. As was Brix Smith, the fashion woman and Mark E Smiths ex-wife. She looked at us like we were something unpleasant on her shoes.

I've met Katie Piper and she was a gem. So sweet. And her mum is lovely too

Cherry Healy I've met a few times and she always remembers who I am and greets me enthusiastically. I used to be in an industry that meant I got to meet celebs so I've met a few and she was a favourite, so not celeby at all.

Mylene Class is rude. She was meant to be at a charity event I was at, she didn't turn up and didn't send apologies, just literally didn't show up

JillyBeanSLT2B · 12/03/2023 18:06

Stephen Mulherne absolutely lovely, I can't have a word said against him
Simon Le Bon - so kind, we were in the away end at Chelsea, I was totally starstruck and he was chatting away to me
James Cosmo - nobody nicer or kinder
Ryan Giggs - arse
Danny de Vito - lovely
Holly Johnson - hilarious!
Alan Cumming - lovely

Adam Woodyatt was a knob on I'm a Celeb as well. Just a grumpy, miserable old man.

The bloke who played fleabag’s dad is an arse. Can’t even remember his name and cba to look it up. Damon albarn a bit of a wanker but he was off his face in fairness. Victor meldrew desperate to be recognised.

Bill Paterson.

The guy who plays mister maker is absolutely lovely!

Newton Faulkner is really down to earth and lovely too.

Gary Numan used to be so down to earth and always had time for his fans - now not so much quite rude and arrogant

Ricky Gervais has a house locally and is known for smiling and nodding at anyone he passes [me included!] and making a huge fuss of any dog he meets so I think he's a good 'un.

I am not surprised at this!!! He does seem nice

Britinme · 12/03/2023 18:28

I had a good chat with Daliso Chiponda, who was very friendly and pleasant. John Lloyd of QI, Blackadder etc is one of my favourite people. Lovely man. I met Victoria Coren-Mitchell once and she came over almost exactly as she does on screen.

Zone2NorthLondon · 12/03/2023 18:30

Perry Fenwick(Billy Mitchell) quiet unassuming and really has time for people
Drinks in pub my friend frequents and I’ve seen him there regularly over the years. Always utterly charming

Nave · 12/03/2023 18:33

Re Richard Ayoade - I knew someone who worked with him and said she was just like his screen persona and very nice

LisaMD86 · 12/03/2023 18:33

Sean Williamson - lovely every time I've spoken to him..

Lee Evans - very down to earth and genuine.

Bob Geldof - lives just round the corner. He's very up himself, speaks down to everyone.
