Nicest/not nice celebs.

bazzabas · 10/03/2023 11:58

Who is the nicest celeb you've met?

On the flip side who was not nice?

I had a friend who met Girl's Aloud after she won a competition.

They waited hours to met them, waiting for them to arrive.

Apparently Nadine was lovely, chatted and genuinely seemed interested to meet them.

Sarah & Nicola not so nice, very mardy and diva-ish.

I can confirm that Michael Ball is an absolute sweetheart!
I have also met and love Emma Thompson, Immelda Staunton and Joanna lumley.

I have never met Sandi Tovosvig but she is sometimes reported as being rude. A family member knows her - she is intelligent (as expected), hardworking, dedicated, political and very shy.
Paul McCartney often gets negative press and I’ve not met him but a family member ended up on the same train journey as him, and they had a long chat for more than an hour putting the world to rights. This was an ordinary train, not first class and no entourage. She was not a fan and was really shocked, she thought he was lovely.

Now I'm jealous 😄

About MCR I mean.

I remember when Huey dissed Lauren Lavern on twitter because she had won some award he clearly though he should have got. He was really bitching and utterly cringeworthy. I had always loved his radio show before that but the mask really slipped then and I will never see him in the same light. Pretty sure he made some grovelling apology the next day when he realised he had damaged his laid back image.

I absolutely loved him until I spent time with him - totally changed my opinion of him and now I can’t even look at him.

Geoffrey Hughes (Onslow in "Keeping up Appearances) was really nice.

Jimmy Nail was a top of the range arse.

Yeh I came on to say Jimmy Nail wasn't very nice when I met him. Dermot O'Leary and Dara O'Brian very nice though.

Wayne Sleep was absolutely lovely, complete luvvie of course darling!

Yes. I also met Wayne Sleep, and he was indeed lovely. Meeting him made my day.

LakieLady · 10/03/2023 23:25

Mark Williams is lovely. He came over to us in a pub garden a few years ago and asked if his small daughters could say hello to my dogs. We chatted away for a while and was really nice, not up himself at all. He must live somewhere round my way, as I've seen him a few times since and he always says hello.

To my eternal embarrassment, I didn't recognise him, although he looked familiar, and when we left I said to DP and our friends "I know that guy from somewhere but I can't think where" and have never lived it down.

I have had the misfortune to be in the same pub as Piers Morgan on two occasions. He's loud, rude, arrogant and right up himself. I never go to that pub any more.

Have you not heard of never speaking ill of the dead?

Heard of it. Think it's nonsense.

Heyjoewhatsup · 10/03/2023 23:43

David Beckham is genuinely very lovely. People I know who’ve met him all say what a top bloke he is, which is pretty impressive as surely everyone has a bad day! He just comes across as winning at life, grateful for everything he has and wants to give back to the world. He’s a radiator not a drain!

Billi80 · 10/03/2023 23:47

Michelle Williams - absolutely lovely

Billi80 · 10/03/2023 23:52

Elton John- Rude

Logicalreasoning · 10/03/2023 23:52

I’m yet to meet a celeb that wasn’t kind.
when I was younger I met Trojan and lightning from gladiators... they were so cool... I know they were getting paid to be there but still they didn’t make it seem that way.
preston from ordinary boys came into my work, we had a 10 min chat about football, he’s pretty chill...
patsy Palmer is an absolute doll, turns out we’d parked outside her house ( we didn’t know until we returned) when we were having a maternity appointment. When we got back to the car she was at her door chatting to her friend, she waved and said hi and asked us how we were. She also had a full blown convo with my Nan in Clinton’s before aswell 🙂
christopher Ellison (burnside from the bill) he’s a sweet guy, been in my work many times.
david guest bumped into me just off of Oxford street, he apologised profusely and then proceeded to ask me what I thought of the property we were standing by.
andrew Lincoln is pretty funny.
we had Dom (from dick and Dom) and Jon tickle come to our house because my mum was on brainiac, test tube baby. They were outside the house when I was leaving for work and proceeded to have a 10 minute chat, I was almost late for work 😜
met Austin Nichols, he was super sweet
Pete Bennett from big brother, is one of the funniest guys I’ve met, I see him quite often in brighton. He’s literally nice to everyone.
my mum used to work at sky and one day when she was on maternity leave visiting work with my lil sis Brian dowling was there, he held my sister and my mum said he was really nice and funny.
chris Eubank often goes past my work, he always waves at everyone.

There's been tonnes of these threads and they're really quite boring. Nobody is 100% lovely to 100% of the people they meet, celeb or not. Celebs have it even harder because they're probably constantly being hounded by randomers some if which are probably entitled pricks themselves and might even make the celeb feel uncomfortable or unsafe. If a celeb is wise they'll stay humble of course but they don't owe anyone their 'niceness'

Ahsoka2001 · 10/03/2023 23:58

I'm going to go with actress Fay Ripley for my "nicest" choice.

Met her at the stage door after a Kerry Jackson performance in January. I didn't have to ask for a photo since she offered one (she joked that she could tell I was thinking it from how I was holding my phone!). Then when I mentioned how much I loved watching Meg & Mog as a child she did Meg's voice which genuinely made my year night! I was amazed she could still do it perfectly after 20 years (and being on stage for 2-3 hours!). Lovely woman.

Never met a not so nice celeb, but the only other famous people I've spoken to have been the Red Dwarf crew (met Danny John-Jules, Hattie Hayridge, Norman Lovett and Paul Jackson at a con in 2021).

No, it was 1993 (?) at the opening of the Virgin shop, bottom of Northumberland Street. He handed me a Virgin Big Red Mug.

Crikeyalmighty · 11/03/2023 00:09

Unfortunately I think it's hard to judge if you are interacting with anyone in a 'fan' type situation. Some that I have met are great with fans but complete jerks to others away from that situation- whereas some I know who are pretty rubbish with fans and don't actually like much fan interaction are really nice people to deal with- if you got as many looney emails and plain weird fan stuff as I see , it might be easier to see why many people in the public eye are really wary when it comes to any 'fan' contact at all. Seriously I've seen bag fulls of 'stuff' that bands have received piled into what they call the 'weird shit' cupboard.

Quercus30 · 11/03/2023 00:09

Tom Criuse was a bit odd. Just been filmed doing all his own stunts but needed his body guard to steer him around a puddle. Polite and happy to chat though.

WeveGotThis · 11/03/2023 00:11

I once did an event for Comic Relief at 6th form and I wrote to him to ask him for signed 'Little Britain' photos to auction. He sent me 5 and wrote me a very lovely note, I've still got it. That was almost twenty years ago, but I will vouch for him!

Ndd135632 · 11/03/2023 00:12

Harvey Weinstein before the convictions. I got the creeps round him. Didn’t surprise me at all when the accusations started.

Miranda Kerr. Obsessed with how she looked. Not v friendly

Kylie. Lovely lovely

Boy George. Dick

Bob Geldof. Lovely

Anskl · 11/03/2023 00:16

Nicest celeb - David Bellamy - I was once invited to speak on a panel that he chaired and afterwards we had lunch together. A truly lovely man, thoroughly engaging, and genuinely interested in everyone around him.

Worst celeb - my friend, who's worked on countless TV shows would definitely say Bruce Forsythe. Massive ego, talked down to people, it was his way or the highway.

Ahsoka2001 · 11/03/2023 00:22

Emmelina · 10/03/2023 20:05

Anthony Hopkins, Ray Winstone, Chris Barrie, David Attenborough - all absolute sweethearts. Lovely lovely guys. Not met many ladies. Hattie Hayridge was amazing! Met her at an event and chatted with her for ages, felt like I’d known her forever.

Noel Edmonds - absolute cock.

I can vouch for Hattie Hayridge too :) Bumped into her at Grantham station after a Red Dwarf convention we'd both just been to and she remembered me. We chatted for a few minutes before her train arrived and she was really down to earth.

I won't go into detail because I met her through work, but it's always really upset me how 'mean girls' Rochelle Humes was to me once. It was in a work canteen and she was being proper schoolgirl mean whilst the rest of the girls in the Saturdays couldn't have been nicer. Really dented my confidence and made me cry. Grates when I see her on telly being all 'sisterly' and 'just another mum'. She wasn't like that at all.

Yep my sibling had a very similar encounter with her. All the band were lovely apart from Rochelle.

threeplusmum · 10/03/2023 14:52

Bumped into a couple of well known extras on Eastenders in a club in Covent Garden, and I hugged them and they asked me how I was etc then it got awkward as I didn't want to pester then so I went off with my mate. But yeah they were really friendly.

Eastenders extras 🤣 Doesn't get much more "celebrity" than that!

Ahsoka2001 · 11/03/2023 00:30

Would love to hear from anyone who's met Florence Pugh? Maybe anyone from Oxford where she grew up...?

OnTheRunWithMannyMontana · 11/03/2023 00:36

Paul Potts is a lovely man. Me and DH and another couple got talking to him in a tiny pub in the Lake District, I didn't actually realise who he was until I went outside for a vape and DH followed me out to tell me!

He had a lot of time for us, chatted away all night!

ShakeItAllAboutYo · 11/03/2023 00:36

Matthew McConnaughy was lovely.

Had quite a long chat with Peter Crouch in a bar once whilst we both waited for drinks. He was super nice.

I've been out socialising with different celebrity friends before and they have been hounded by fans every 5 seconds - it's relentless. I ended up getting annoyed by it and completely empathised with the celebrities for being friendly and having pictures taken. I would find it tiresome. And so would take people saying "so and so was really rude" with a grain of salt as it's quite easy to come across rude when you've been hounded all day. Some fans would just come up and interrupt our conversations or stand right next to us shouting the celebrity's name over and over again whilst we were talking.
