I met Dale Winton a little while before he passed away and he was SO lovely and funny. Unfortunately I had no idea who he was, I hope he never took offence.
He's one I can never understand as everybody always says how amazingly lovely he was; yet he was very close friends with Cilla and Paul O'Grady, both of whom are always mentioned as being.... not particularly nice, shall we say.
We met Mark Watson after a comedy gig once - I can third that he was a lovely, gentle, genuine man.
I had the chance to meet Feargal Sharkey after a gig, when I was about 8 - really nice bloke. I had a bag of Murray Mints with me and he asked if he could have one; I offered him the bag, he took one and thanked me and gave me a big grin.
I used to speak to David James on the phone now and again for work purposes. The role I was in, and the terrible company policy I had to convey, he could have quite justifiably kicked off (as a great many non-celebs usually did), but he was always very nice to me as the messenger, although obviously peeved at the not-nice message I had to give him.
I met Dana, again when I was a child. She was very nice and had quite an ethereal vibe to her. I asked her if she really used the soap that she was then currently advertising and endorsing (claiming to use) on the telly and she hesitated for some time - I guess the answer was No, but she didn't want to lie. Her husband was her manager and he snapped "Of course she does!" at me, before quickly turning her away from me.
I've never met Judi Dench, but I thoroughly admire her for using her profile to publicly shame and campaign against York City Council for their outrageous decision to (effectively) ban disabled people from the city centre. Utterly nasty of them.
