Nicest/not nice celebs.

1000 replies

bazzabas · 10/03/2023 11:58

Who is the nicest celeb you've met?

On the flip side who was not nice?

I had a friend who met Girl's Aloud after she won a competition.

They waited hours to met them, waiting for them to arrive.

Apparently Nadine was lovely, chatted and genuinely seemed interested to meet them.

Sarah & Nicola not so nice, very mardy and diva-ish.

Aled Jones , again at a musical event , absolute snot .

David Jason. Lovely lovely person. Quiet and clever. Stays away from the limelight. Simply a lovely man

patrickbatemansbusinesscard · 10/03/2023 18:28

I've always thought to myself that he's not as nice as he seems.

Well, he seems a right old cunt, so he must be dreadful...

Newsreader Kate Silverton couldn't do enough for us when I worked with her, and was very kind when I made a pretty awful faux pas which could have made her look unprofessional.

Holly Willoughby wasn't exactly rude, but pretty stand-offish.

I once passed the time of day with Anne Cleves, in a shop queue. I'd no idea who she was, just some chit chat about slow service, wasn't the weather nice, for a couple of minutes. One of my neighbours said to me,

"Ooh, hark at you, hob-nobbing with the rich and famous!" I asked what she meant and she said, "You know - Vera."

I thought she meant Brenda Blethyn... and wondered why I couldn't remember speaking to her!

Who the fuck is Anne Cleves?

Mrshawshouse · 10/03/2023 18:30

Holly Willoughby always seems to be obnoxious on these threads. It's so disappointing to know it's a facade. I actually can't watch her anymore....

Kayem458 · 10/03/2023 18:30

I was in Nando’s when Stephen Mulhern was in there with two women.. they were not famous to my knowledge, Stephen and one of the women were very quiet and normal. The other women was a total dick.. pushed infront of the queue and demanded a pen from the lady serving and was extremely rude because she didn’t have one to hand. Unfortunately we ended up on the train across from the three of them too, she was very loud and abusive to the train staff because it was a Sunday and they weren’t serving certain things from them menu, she was just a rude, awful woman. He never uttered a word.. however he seriously went down in my estimation being associated with someone so vile, had she of been one of my friends I’d of told her in no uncertain terms to wind her neck in.

Late 80s, Paul Young walked into Sports Club I worked in. Served him a drink, chatted and was so polite and lovely. Very handsome and very tall (6ft 3). Just gorgeous 😍

Who the fuck is Anne Cleves?

A writer. Well known one. Wrote Vera and Shetland, or the books they're based on. Not one of Henry's wives.

Who the fuck is Anne Cleves?

The author... Wrote the Vera novels amongst others...

Assuming you hadn't realised I'd made a typo and not spelled it double "e."

Bumped into a couple of well known extras on Eastenders in a club in Covent Garden, and I hugged them and they asked me how I was etc then it got awkward as I didn't want to pester then so I went off with my mate. But yeah they were really friendly.

This is my tweet of the week. Well known extras. Brilliant. I bet you made their

day.

Only celeb I've ever met was Emma Forbes (blue peter) she was lovely.

I wonder if you met Emma Forbes or a Blue Peter presenter? (Emma Forbes didn't present Blue Peter.)

Heny VIII's wife was what came up on Google!

Elodie09 · 10/03/2023 18:35

So glad to hear some of my faves are really nice.
I adore Toto Wolff , Suzy is a lucky lady ( she is brilliant and fabulous too) .

FlyingPandas · 10/03/2023 18:35

I love these kind of threads although I must admit I always take the "I interrupted so and so and asked for an autograph/hug/selfie/message for my DC, and OMG they were such a total miserable arse, so they must be horrible!" comments with a huge bucket of salt.

Famous or not, I'd always give someone the benefit of the doubt for being grumpy when randomly interrupted and I can imagine some members of the public are absolutely awful to famous people.

But when posters have actually worked with a celeb, or served them in a cafe or whatever, and found them rude/entitled/horrible - that's far more telling IMO. Fair enough to be shy or awkward when accosted by randoms, but to be horrible to the people you're working with is pretty grim.

On that basis I'm glad to read the comment that Clare Balding is genuinely lovely because if I read otherwise I might lose my faith in humanity completely!

Prettybutdumb · 10/03/2023 18:35

I met Dale Winton a little while before he passed away and he was SO lovely and funny. Unfortunately I had no idea who he was, I hope he never took offence.

My computer doesn't like the double e version - red underline. I'm going to give it a good talking to!

Pankiraj · 10/03/2023 18:38

It all depends on the circumstances in which you meet them - some will be arses no matter what. Others if they’re trying to have a quiet day out or they’re having a bad day and get bothered for autographs that’s going to piss anyone off, however nice they might normally be.

When someone famous dies, doesn’t immediately make them saintly and wipe the slate clean.

Cilla Black had a terrible reputation, Linda Bellingham too.
A PP said Wendy Richards was lovely but I’ve seen her being an awkward cow.

Danny Dyer was very down to earth, hopefully still is.
David Jason is very reserved but often gets called out as grumpy

Mark Heap (Friday Night Dinner) was lovely to me and a colleague when he saw our co-workers were not being as inclusive as they could have been.

A colleague worked with Alan Davies, she rarely swore and was a very calm person but had not a good word to say about him.

And he doesn't even seen very nice.

Hayliebells · 10/03/2023 18:39

*seem. And that was about David Walliams btw!

Marineboy67 · 10/03/2023 18:40

Me and a friend did a support slot for Lonnie Donnegan on his last tour. I played banjo and my friend played fiddle, just a few Irish and American tunes.
He was so nice and encouraging, played a few tunes in the dressing room with us and he gave us front row tickets for his next show. Absolute genuine gentleman!

Some of these "celebrities" are making me laugh...

"Ian David Gorham is a British businessman. He was the chief executive of Hargreaves Lansdown plc, a British financial service company from 2010 to 2017. Since 2017 he has been a stock market and fund investor and owner of businesses including Skyline Chess, Midgap Properties and Cookalong Kitchen."

Not exactly Beyonce, is he..?
