Nicest/not nice celebs.

Who is the nicest celeb you've met?

On the flip side who was not nice?

I had a friend who met Girl's Aloud after she won a competition.

They waited hours to met them, waiting for them to arrive.

Apparently Nadine was lovely, chatted and genuinely seemed interested to meet them.

Sarah & Nicola not so nice, very mardy and diva-ish.

I can add to Walliams being a thoroughly unpleasant creepy and arrogant individual.

I met Joe Wicks through a work event once, vile. He was manic to the point everyone was whispering about him and he smelt weird.

Rolf Harris.

Near Carnaby Street, 1988 / 89, Gary Glitter walked out of a door. He was very bouncy, posed for photos, signed a few T-shirts and offered one of the lasses loads of money for her rainbow platform boots.

Fast forward a few years....

Hellolighternights · 10/03/2023 17:55

Patti Scialfa is so lovely, her and Bruce Springsteen.

Whatfreshhellisthisss · 10/03/2023 17:57

Edith bowman, very sweet and normal

Thesystemonlydreamsintotaldarkness · 10/03/2023 17:57

The twins from fun house were moody bitches .

BeardyButton · 10/03/2023 17:57

Met Jamelia once. She was so lovely.

HurryShadow · 10/03/2023 17:59

Only "celeb" I've ever met was the guy that played Gavin in The Brittas Empire! 😂

He was very nice though and had a chat while he warmed up after a cold motorbike ride (I worked in a petrol station and he came in and bought a pot noodle, which I added hot water to for him, despite not really being allowed to.

SinnerBoy · 10/03/2023 18:00

I once passed the time of day with Anne Cleves, in a shop queue. I'd no idea who she was, just some chit chat about slow service, wasn't the weather nice, for a couple of minutes. One of my neighbours said to me,

"Ooh, hark at you, hob-nobbing with the rich and famous!" I asked what she meant and she said, "You know - Vera."

I thought she meant Brenda Blethyn... and wondered why I couldn't remember speaking to her!

MsJD · 10/03/2023 18:00

Captain Bird's-eye was awesome, I met him when I was 14

Frozzie1 · 10/03/2023 18:01

I was a secretary for a time for a well known institution. I had to serve coffee to a morning meeting which included well known names. Everyone avoided eye contact and pretended I didn’t exist - except one person. Floella Benjamin caught my eye and gave me a warm smile. She said thank you for bringing in the coffee. She is a lovely kind person with immaculate manners.
How someone receives a cup of coffee speaks volumes.

RosaMoline · 10/03/2023 18:02

@GreenShadow

Thank you for the Sir Michael Caine anecdote. What a lovely memory to treasure.

Sir Brian May is fairly local to me. I’ve seen him but not spoken to. Know lots of people that have met him, and he is indeed god-like and kindly. Wonderful man.

Surprised a PP saying Reece Shearsmith not nice. I mentioned in a previous post if met him and he couldn’t have been nicer.

RosaMoline · 10/03/2023 18:04

I also know someone who’s met George Clooney in a professional capacity, and says he is the absolute best. Charming, kind and can’t do enough for you.

RosaMoline · 10/03/2023 18:05

Anyone met the late Great Amy Winehouse? (another of my faves!)

Led9519 · 10/03/2023 18:07

Objectionhearsayspeculation · 10/03/2023 13:18

Bob Geldof was really when nice we bumped into him in a hotel once and he complimented my dd on her hair colour and politely listened to my youngest as she waffled on about getting hers coloured too.

Haven’t got far through this long thread but actually my story is of Bob Geldof being an arse. Pushed passed everyone at passport control at Heathrow, someone even called him out and he ignored them. The a lady came over and asked for a photograph and he said no (tbf don’t think you’re allowed anyway at passport control!) must’ve been a bad flight because everyone else had to wait patiently in line!

MajorCarolDanvers · 10/03/2023 18:08

Tony & Cherie Blair - lovely very nice
Boris Johnson - funny and good company
Prince Edward - quite shy
Kylie - just wonderful
Nicola Sturgeon - unfriendly behaved like she was sucking wasps
Robbie Coltrane - reserved

Gregg Wallace is a complete Dick

Yes he really is.

GyozaGuiting · 10/03/2023 18:12

@Gigwidow that’s awful, what did she do? I don’t think she comes across that well.

Heather Small from M people. Not nice at all

Yes, apparently so. She was supposed to sing with my friend's community choir as backing. They are really good and have sung with other professionals. They learnt her song specially and rehearsed loads and then in the rehearsal on the day she had a diva strop and refused to sing with them. They had audience tickets for the show so all stood up and sang anyway when it got to that song!

Justin Fletcher is the only celeb I've met who wasn't nice. At a Cbeebies meet and greet all the other presenters were lovely and chatted to the preschoolers and did photos etc. He turned round for a brief photo, then immediately turned away to talk to another adult rather than engaging with the kids.

DrMarciaFieldstone · 10/03/2023 12:03

Wasn’t even you though, it was your friend.

So who knows how it really was

Plus the fact we all have off days. Would you want to be publicly judged on your off days OP?

salcombebabe · 10/03/2023 18:13

Harry Styles gave me the biggest, warmest hug when I bumped into him in the street not so long ago. It was lovely, he was so down to earth and friendly. He was with a family member and we weren’t in London or any big city. Nice to see him as a ‘normal’ lad not being followed by security or a string of fans.

honeylulu · 10/03/2023 18:18

Romesh Ranganathan was lovely and really down to earth. I was at a family friendly festival and almost in tears because my toddler was doing my head in. Suddenly I looked up and there he was saying something like i know how you feel, I've got three boys and it's madness. I said I'd enjoyed his set (which we'd just watched) and he was very "oh that thing, never mind" humble about it.

David Bellamy was nice but a bit grumpy the day I met him (we were working long days at a coral reef conservation event and he was giving his time for free though).

Keith Vaz. Oleaganous and sleazy. Was in a press shoot with him and he kept saying "oh let's have these lovely ladies at the front". So was surprised to hear later that he was the other way inclined.

Hugh Grant came to our local town hall for a political event. Some kids from our school were present and apparently he was lovely and very patient with them even though they kept jumping up and down with excitement shouting "Paddington! Paddington!" at him.

Actress friend has worked with Bill Oddie a few times and found him very unpleasant.

I met Jerry Hall once (I taught her two eldest kids in a Sunday school class - they were very well behaved) and I was gobsmacked when their mum arrived to pick them up. She was very polite and understated - "normal" clothes and hair in a ponytail but her height and US accent made it obvious who she was!

Lollygaggle · 10/03/2023 18:19

Nice
Sue Perkins conducted an orchestra my daughter played in and sent me a good luck message for a contest I was taking part in . Very nice person

Johnny Vegas , met him when running commonwealth beacon through St Helens. Very funny , was picked up and dropped off at a pub, didn't wear sports gear and was hilarious on support bus. Played football with pub patrons after.

Not so nice

Nick Knowles , got talking to him whilst picking up children from drama class. I didn't recognise him at the time and as we continued chatting he obviously got increasingly annoyed that I hadn't recognised him and didn't start gushing . Had a much younger girlfriend and sports car so I'd just put him down as midlife crisis divorced dad!

Heather Small from M people. Not nice at all

noooo! I thought she'd be lovely.

I met Whitney from Eastenders. Very lovely with the most beautiful blue eyes.

I read a recent interview where she said she doesn’t cook at all, her mum has cook for her which set-off my diva antennae (and what happens when her mum is fed up of cooking for her!)
