Nicest/not nice celebs.

1000 replies

bazzabas · 10/03/2023 11:58

Who is the nicest celeb you've met?

On the flip side who was not nice?

I had a friend who met Girl's Aloud after she won a competition.

They waited hours to met them, waiting for them to arrive.

Apparently Nadine was lovely, chatted and genuinely seemed interested to meet them.

Sarah & Nicola not so nice, very mardy and diva-ish.

I also met Steve Mcmanaman and his girlfriend on a beach in Mallorca. We had got chatting (I don’t remember how!!) and the conversation got round to work. It was obvious I didn’t know who he was at all (I was only about 20 and I’ve never followed football) and he told me completely deadpan that he was playing football for a local team 😂😂. I thought he meant like a local Sunday league club. I don’t know what he made of me but I was mortified when I spotted him on telly a few weeks later.

Dacre Montgomery (Billy from stranger things) is gorgeous and very humble.

blondiepigtails · 10/03/2023 16:52

Elkie Brooks is lovely - absolutely tiny. Introduced herself as Mrs Jordan, her married name as it was work related and nothing to do with her music.
Adam Zindani from the Stereophonics is very modest and down to earth - chatted with him a couple of times.

Carouselfish · 10/03/2023 16:52

Jack White bouncy and boyish and very kind to my dd.
Dennis Quaid nice and normal and friendly.

Can't stand fricking mr tumble. Comes across as so false.

My son works with the Makaton Charity as an advocate... He's met Justin (Mr Tumble) on a number of occasions. During lockdown ds2 was on his own on his birthday and Justin sent him a video. Also in Christmas 2021 Ds2 couldn't meet Justin due to Covid. Justin sent him a signed photo and programme from his dressing room...

Marcus Bridstocke The Comedian is nice

he can be nice but he can also be really rude- he doesn't watch other comedians for example and is on his phone during their acts when they have listened to him and laughed.

Season0fTheWitch · 10/03/2023 16:54

Eamonn Holmes was creepy to women, brash to men. I met him at a dinner party hosted by someone else, he acted like the host.

Amanda Holden was lovely- I didn't like her before I met her and now regret my hatred.

Henry Cavill was shy, which I didn't expect.

Wishimaywishimight · 10/03/2023 16:56

I was in a lift at The Dorchester with Jermaine Jackson. He said "hi", seemed friendly enough.

ThisWomansWorkNeverEnds · 10/03/2023 16:57

Those talking about the late Robbie Coltrane, I saw him at the airport years ago. He was really tall and big, his wife looked tiny next to him. Although I'm only 5 foot 1 inch.

Astrabees · 10/03/2023 16:58

Nigel Havers was having lunch with his wife at the same time a group of us from work were having lunch before the Buckingham Palace garden party we had been invited to. One brave colleague went up and asked him to autograph her invitation and he was really lovely, chatted to her and smiled at us all. A charmer in real life too.

AwayWithTheFairiesAgain · 10/03/2023 16:58

The then Prince Charles shook my hand once and was perfectly polite.

fountainsandbirds · 10/03/2023 16:58

Oz clarke, wine guy, sleazy.

Anyone met Steve Pemberton ( League of Gents, Inside No9 and a million-ty other things including Happy Valley Series 1 and Whitechapel) and tell me he's lovely IRL but if he's an arse (which I hope he isn't ) just say "he's , erm.... distant "

No, but Reece Shearsmith is a miserable bastard. Unless you are famous.

Martin sheen is an absolutely lovely, lovely person to meet and still the best president 😂

I'm so jealous, I love him! Where did you meet him? Did you speak to him for long?

SerafinasGoose · 10/03/2023 17:03

I haven't heard of all the famous people mentioned upthread and probably wouldn't recognise many even if I did meet them. But I once ran into Bill Oddie on Brownsea Island in rather embarrassing circumstances. Albeit he has something of a reputation for being difficult, he was a hoot.

Speaking of wildlife presenters, a friend is a sometime acquaintance of Chris Packham and she's worked with him on occasion. She says he's a lovely bloke.

To my knowledge I haven't run across any full-of-themselves people asking 'do you know who I am'. But I'm happy to read upthread that James McAvoy seems pleasant enough. I saw him interviewed on something once and he was really entertaining, witty and intelligent. Plus I like his accent 😀

GreenShadow · 10/03/2023 17:09

@RosaMoline
"Has anyone met or know anyone who’s met Julie Walters or Michael Caine? I absolutely love them."

Yes! we entertained Michael Caine on location in our flat many years ago. He had to hang around for hours waiting for it to get dark and he and a few crew just sat and watched telly with us and read out Trivial Pursuit questions !

People he knew kept coming on the TV so we would get the lowdown on what he thought about them. Also how well he thought they could act. He was really lovely and down-to-earth.

The Jonathan Creek man, Alan Davies(?) is apparently awful. A friend of mine was somewhere and he was there and again, some children approached him and he bollocked their parent for allowing them to go near him.

He is. He bit a homeless man's ear once. Apparently because he was grief stricken after losing a friend.

I've lost a lot of people and I still fail to see the connection.

It disgusts me to see him on tv after that. Likewise Boy George.

Blimey. Confused

Ourlittleharmonica · 10/03/2023 17:11

The actor Colin Farrell is an absolute sweetheart. A lovely man with the best energy, very generous with his time.

I used to work with a promoter who booked music acts, Jess Glynne stands out as being particularly rude. Horrible attitude. Rita Ora was lovely.

momtoboys · 10/03/2023 17:12

Met Bono at a pub in the US. Danced and drank with he and his friends! He was lovely.

Robbie Coltrane was a boisterous and engaging raconteur and also a right shortarse!

Robbie Coltrane is only short if you are a Richard Osman.

Are you sure you are thinking of the right person?

JoonT · 10/03/2023 17:14

David Baddiel was exactly what I expected - a vile, sneering, sarcastic bully. He reminded me of kids at school who creep around the bully/alpha but are horrible to anyone weak or isolated.

Owen Jones was a loathsome, smug little twerp, and Stewart Lee was rude and unpleasant.

I’m sure Ricky Gervais is nice - self-mocking, takes nothing seriously, etc. And I know someone who met Brian Blessed and said he was lovely. I met Bill Bryson at a book signing and liked him a lot.

imaginationhasfailedme · 10/03/2023 17:16

This list spans three decades so some people may have changed!
Brian May - absolutely lovely, got shouted at by my mum and was very apologetic
Gail Porter - very pleasant and chatty over lunch
Pub landlord Al murray - was rude and just seemed grumpy after I asked him for an autograph at London book fair. But still, I was very excited to see him!
Arsenal team, worked at a hotel health club they used before Chelsea matches - arsene wenger (going way back!), very polite and kind. I showed the Nevilles round the club - they didn't say anything or change their expression once. Seemed nice enough but not many lights on
Same work - Justin Timberlake. Polite but someone had to tell him he wasn't old enough to be using the free weights unaccompanied
Same hotel - Ronan Keating. Very polite, didn't use his full time on the sunbed
Russell Brand - absolute dickish cunt. Thinks all the girls fancy him but if he doesn't fancy you, you know about it
Hermione Grainger and Matt Lucas - same event. Absolutely lovely to my son who wanted pics with them both. Matt Lucas he'd been bouncing waiting to meet. And his doggies. Such a nice man

Sallyhead · 10/03/2023 17:19

I’ve met lots of ‘Z’listers through my job but the ones who stick out were:

Stacey Solomon - horrible. Arrogant and up herself and not nice at all

Katie Price - really nice, friendly and warm to everyone. This was many years ago when she had loads of fans queuing to meet her

I'd be intrigued to hear more about the Stacey Solomon reasoning?
