Continuation of previous threads (thread 5).

Gather here all ye refugees from the JTT Flat Earth Society, welcome to the reassuringly oblate spheroid of MN! Ye all already know the answers to the questions "How the heck do I format my post?" "Why can't I edit my typos?" "What do those acronyms mean?" and most importantly, "Where is everybody that I used to know?"

So really we're all here just to chat randomly.

I'm on the bridge wing. I can hear dolphins plopping and snorting. I can't see them, but there were ten or so, at twilight.

Britinme · 31/03/2023 16:30

I love hearing details like that @SinnerBoy .

I am sitting in the hairdresser's, waiting for my appointment. My hairdresser is Marty, a Boston Irish American who in the 90s worked with Trump when Trump owned the Miss Universe pageant. He is a long-distance runner in his spare time and likes to do bhikram yoga. He and I always talk books and movies and politics, and he gives me a great haircut too.

Same here and had to look up 'bridge wing'. The dolphins sound lovely.

The woman who cuts my hair is a world away from your hairdresser, @Britinme. She happily admits she's plump and often says 'Talk to me about food, I want to hear about food'. She's lovely and an excellent hairdresser, I always enjoy the visit.

BinturongsSmellOfPopcorn · 31/03/2023 17:34

I have serious boat envy, Sinner.

Tricyrtis2022 · 31/03/2023 17:36

It's rained non stop here today. Yesterday my secateurs got so muddy they actually jammed, so today I said 'No' and decided to stay at home. Sick of being covered in mud all the time, even if I am wearing waterproofs.

Anyway, I decided to make some spiced fruit buns and they've just come out of the oven. I ate one hot and enjoyed the melting butter. Don't think they'll last long.

I now also have bun envy.

Tricyrtis2022 · 31/03/2023 17:56

@BinturongsSmellOfPopcorn, shall I eat another one for you?

NotDrowningJustCrowing · 31/03/2023 18:11

Afternoon everyone. I got back from the hospital just before 3pm and have been wandering around the flat and went out for cat food. The good news is that the food is no longer in my throat. The less good news was that I waited seven hours in A&E before I was seen but once that happened I was kept in the better part of the place and got on a recliner. There was a cannula and hydration along with drugs. I was given an endoscopy at about 12pm the drugs included fentanyl which is a bit mental. Alas I came to a couple of times which wasn't nice but they got the food out, examined the whole oesophagus which is in pretty shite condition and I'll be going back in four weeks to see the results of multiple biopsies and to see what can be done.

When the cannula came out it was okay at first and then spouted blood like a mofo. The nurse and I ended up laughing. It was fine pretty soon but the sheets, my hands, and the floor were full of blood. Anyway! I've drunk lots, had yoghurt and a couple of easy peelers. You'd think I was ravenous after not eating for over 30 hours but it's the last thing on my mind.

Thank you all for being so lovely. A woman in a wheelchair and I became friends and ended up in a private place together. The receptionist was a twat I mean seriously a huge f-ing twat. A drunk woman arrived at about 2am and kicked off at a nice father and teenager. Security came and smoothed things over. All was quiet for about 10 minutes and then I got up because I'd had absolutely enough. Told her off, used the f-word and sat down. She was mostly quiet up until I left the main area. It's a long time since I went off, not too aggressively at someone. It felt quite good. And that's the whole story. I'm burping like a mofo but I am so glad to be home and cured of the awfulness. I'll be in bed very early tonight and the cats have even been quite nice to me.

Tricyrtis2022 · 31/03/2023 18:14

@NotDrowningJustCrowing, that sounds like a real ordeal, for many reasons, but it's good to know the blockage has gone. Hope you feel better for a good sleep tonight.

weaseleyes · 31/03/2023 18:34

That sounds quite the ordeal. Glad you're home and unobstructed - except by cats.

Britinme · 31/03/2023 18:44

Huge sympathies @NotDrowningJustCrowing . That all sounds deeply unpleasant.

artant · 31/03/2023 19:27

Oof, @NotDrowningJustCrowing that sounds really grim. Glad you’re safely home and that the cats are being kind. Take very good care of yourself and get lots of rest. Fingers crossed they identify some helpful treatment when the biopsy results are in.

CyanCrystalViolet · 01/04/2023 00:01

That sounds like a truly horrible ordeal @NotDrowningJustCrowing. I really hope they can offer you something when the results come through. I had a gastroscopy under propofol which was also a bit mental but was very grateful for it nonetheless. Wishing you a peaceful night’s sleep and lots of cat cuddles.

SinnerBoy · 01/04/2023 01:56

BinturongsSmellOfPopcorn · Yesterday 17:34

I have serious boat envy, Sinner.

It has its compensations, I saw them, not long after I posted, in a pool of light from the aft deck. They keep it dark on the bridge.

Today is the first really calm day and it's still rolling a bit!

SinnerBoy · 01/04/2023 01:58

I'm really glad to hear that you can swallow now, @NotDrowningJustCrowing

It sounds as though you had a protracted ordeal, especially with the dragon lady and the pissed one!

Dotellhimpike · 01/04/2023 03:18

Sending much love and good vibes Crows.

Kucinghitam · 01/04/2023 06:08

@NotDrowningJustCrowing that sounds like a horrible way to spend an afternoon, but I am very glad the obstruction is gone and you can swallow. Wishing you a speedy recovery and plenty of cat love!

angelico53 · 01/04/2023 09:32

Glad you're back and it's clear, Crows.

UnfortunatePoster · 01/04/2023 09:36

Thank goodness you got it sorted Crows.

Sinner's job sounds amazing on paper, but as someone one gets seasick on the cross channel ferry it would be my idea of hell. Much as I'd love seeing dolphins etc!

UnfortunatePoster · 01/04/2023 09:37

duc748 · 01/04/2023 10:58

Trust you got a good night's rest after that ordeal, Crows. Is there any hope of a better long-term solution?

SqueakyDinosaur · 01/04/2023 11:27

Ugh to Crow's medical travails. Are you back in the US now, @Britinme ?

I am still lolling in bed, accompanied by a generous coating of croissant crumbs. Turns out my "No baked breakfast goods in bed" rule was actually quite a sensible one.

SqueakyDinosaur · 01/04/2023 11:28

I'm imagining that the medical procedure that the doctors need to help Crows is rather like when you get a chimney flue relined.

SinnerBoy · 01/04/2023 11:53

<Hopes no cement was involved>

Britinme · 01/04/2023 14:22

@SqueakyDinosaur - yes I'm home now. I am also lolling in bed with a cup of tea, but in my defence it's only 9:20 am here and I have to get up shortly because my cleaner gets here at 10.

He only comes once a month and he's absolutely brilliant. He's here for four hours, works like a Trojan and costs $100 and is worth every cent.
