Continuation of previous threads (thread 5).

Gather here all ye refugees from the JTT Flat Earth Society, welcome to the reassuringly oblate spheroid of MN! Ye all already know the answers to the questions "How the heck do I format my post?" "Why can't I edit my typos?" "What do those acronyms mean?" and most importantly, "Where is everybody that I used to know?"

So really we're all here just to chat randomly.

Some of them would get on very well with James I&VI, mass murder of women would seem a totally acceptable hobby.

Dotellhimpike · 24/03/2023 12:01

Overheard in public.

Was in Bolton yesterday, and walking past a shop bedazzled in bright colours, windows painted over in fluorescent pink with the name above emblazoned in glittery lettering Beauty And The Beach

As I walked past the doors opened and there were signs of a scuffle as two women in tracksuits were forcibly ejected from said shop. The door slammed shut behind them and as they stood on the pavement comporting themselves, one turned and said to the other philosophically, in a broad Northern accent
"ee, a've never been chucked out of a fucking beauty salon before"

Haha!

I've told this story many times before, but:

This was a good couple of decades ago when we lived in London. One rush-hour evening, I got on the 268 bus that runs between Golders Green and Finchley Road. One of the other passengers was having an intense conversation on her mobile.

As the bus set off, winding up North End Way towards Hampstead, the woman's conversation got more intense and also louder. By the time we reached Jack Straw's Castle, her side of the conversation became a series of ever louder "I didn't do it, right?... Didn't do it!... I told you I didn't do it... I ^didn't FUCKING do it!" while the rest of the crowded bus sat in stoic London-commuter silence. The passenger disembarked at Hampstead Station, still shouting "I didn't bloody do it!!!" as she went.

As the bus set off from the stop, in the ensuing silence, a plaintive voice piped up, "WHAT didn't you do?!"

Ha ha!

BinturongsSmellOfPopcorn · 24/03/2023 13:10

Excellent!

he self identified as vegetarian

He fitted within the definition still common in much of Europe - ham and sausages didn't count as meat. I think he did give up his favourite dish of roast pigeon.

James I&VI was another vehement anti smoker.

Dotellhimpike · 24/03/2023 13:34

IIRC beer was not considered an alcoholic drink in Russia until recently.

It all puts me in mind of that old joke

What's the Australian definition of a homosexual?

Someone who prefers women to beer.

Britinme · 24/03/2023 13:38

He self-identified as a vegetarian says a lot about the power of self-identification though, doesn't it?

I can't work out why in this climate of self-identification Rachel Dolezal is so vilified.

NotDrowningJustCrowing · 24/03/2023 23:21

If only Rachel Dolezal had identified as a black man she'd have been fine.

duc748 · 25/03/2023 00:57

Arf!

mach2 · 25/03/2023 09:04

The race-faking thing is interesting. There are several cases in the US and Canada. The prominent ones might have done it, Walter Mitty style, to gain recognition and plaudits they wouldn't otherwise get.

Given that a third of white college applicants in the US lie bout their ethnicity I also suspect that getting around or benefiting from positive discrimination measures are a factor.

How many whites, in Jim Crow days, pretended to be black? "Passing as white" by people of mixed heritage was more likely.

Dotellhimpike · 25/03/2023 10:10

Oli London is an interesting character and worth listening to IMO. He has identified across both sex/gender and race lines but will nowadays be very open and frank about his fragile mental state and addiction.

Sorry to talk about it and I need to stop looking there. The misrepresentation and smears about KJK's tour on that "reasonable people" thread in the other place are unbelievably awful. Gaslighting nonsense, from TRSOH. Someone literally posted the tweet about the guy saying that seeing the fear in her eyes turned him on and it's handwaved away in favour of biased TRA propaganda, crybullying and insulting other posters.

Let me guess, plenty of TRSOH pious fraud, virtue-signalling and a big dose of the Rules of Misogyny?

Yes. And people pulling the "I'm a woman, I know best" line, when most of the other women have left.

mach2 · 25/03/2023 11:11

The mass departure tends to get blamed in the few blokes posting on that thread rather than the former owner threatening to pull the plug.

Kucinghitam · 25/03/2023 11:19

Anyways. The heat death of the universe is still a way off Wink

It is. Looking back and expecting a different experience is always going to be disappointing. Here’s to recovering and rebuilding in a place where reality isn’t problematic and where wrong-thinking women are not treated with with such continual hostility, contempt and derision by self-identified nice people. Enjoy the liberation!

NotDrowningJustCrowing · 25/03/2023 11:54

I watched her live stream of what went down in Auckland and it was pretty terrifying. Part of me was thinking "Well I hope you're proud of yourselves now!" to all of the TRSOH melts but realised that of course they are. They are so messed up that they think threatening women and actually punching an elderly woman in the face and giving her a black eye is justified. Be Kind, blah, blah, blah.

StephanieSuperpowers · 25/03/2023 12:15

People are just so accustomed to seeing women as the background to special people's real lives that they just can't see beyond it.

Ginmonkeyagain · 25/03/2023 12:18

But surely people with brane can see GC feminists and the far right disagree with genderism for completely different reasons? Surely?

I know little about KJK bit I do understand she seems a bit of a problematic and divise character, but my GC views, that I came to my self don't depend on me either agreeing with her or agreeing that it is ok that violent men (of all political persuasions) are allowed to prevent her from peaceably expressing her views.

Anyway discussion of that issue on there is never going to work until it is just a thread of people agreeing the fuck out each other.

Ginmonkeyagain · 25/03/2023 12:21

Anyeay I have to admit that a white, middle aged, middle class male poster deciding that this is just a silly white middle class women's issue did make me laugh a bit.

I mean the other place is hardly the local chapter of the Black Panthers movement is it?

Winterborne74 · 25/03/2023 12:28

There’s a New Zealand comic I follow who is very RSOH. I like him generally but disagree with him on this issue. He was there and his framing was instructive. He didn’t even pretend to be interested in what Standing for Women is about and presented it in very simple terms as a battle between transphobes and people standing up to transphobes and complexly minimised the violence towards the women and KJK in particular.

This is his pre-event take on transphobia.

I cannot understand how we could have got to a place where a woman publicly asserting a definition of woman is seen as such an act of provocation that any violence can be minimised or excused. Regardless of one’s views of KJK (can take or leave her myself), she doesn’t deserve this. The collective insanity is mind boggling.

I think sometimes social media operates like a metaphorical mob and all sides sometimes need a hate figure to project their ire on. It is horrifying and dehumanising to watch.

In previous centuries these would be the people gathering a torch lit mob.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 25/03/2023 12:43

People are just so accustomed to seeing women as the background to special people's real lives that they just can't see beyond it.

This is so true.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 25/03/2023 12:47

I know little about KJK bit I do understand she seems a bit of a problematic and divise character,

I can understand why, but as someone who has met her and hung out with her after events on a few occasions I will say her heart is in the right place and she's one of the bravest women I've ever met. She really does care about the children, particularly girls, being failed by gender identity ideology.
