How much bread have you eaten today?

I had one slice of toast for breakfast, one focaccia roll for lunch and another slice of toast with my tea.

I am wondering if many people eat as much bread as that on an average day. I’m not sure it agrees with me these days!

None, but I rarely have any. I do eat crackers quite a lot though 😳

FunnysInLaJardin · 03/03/2023 22:03

I love bread but am trying to cut out wheat, so no bread since last weekend.

Have oat cakes instead!

Tiddler39 · 03/03/2023 22:03

Zero. It’s no one’s friend.

Why is everyone obsessed with not eating bread? Understand if it doesn’t agree with you but I’ve never seen bread as a negative choice? I’m still of the opinion that if you eat too many calories you put on weight, if you eat too few you’ll lose weight, regardless of the food type 🤷

Yes I think desserts/ chocolate put on the most weight.

Today just one pitta.
Other days up to 6 slices.
I also eat potatoes every day 😱

Potatoes are a million times better!

RoseMartha · 03/03/2023 22:05

I had a cheese ciabatta square roll with nothing in it and two small pieces of white toast with boiled egg. (I usually eat wholemeal but when I bought it they had sold out of brown).

Bread is effectively sugar though (in terms of how the body uses it). Take a look at glucose goddess on Instagram for info about glucose spikes and the damage they do to your body.

BT11 · 03/03/2023 22:06

3 slices seeded brown.

byvirtue · 03/03/2023 22:06

The problem isn’t bread, it’s ultra processed bread.

I used to buy the expensive multigrain seeded one, it made me bloated.

Now I make my own sourdough, three ingredients, flour, water and salt. No bloat, feel great. Two slices today for lunch.

Aquarius1234 · 03/03/2023 22:07

I've known a few people that think potatoes are bad and will immediately get fat. No chips unless sweet potatoes. No sliced potatoes No roasts. Or maybe one occasionally. Boring !!

Aquarius1234 · 03/03/2023 22:08

Yet they might eat pasta and rice...

MyLittlePonyWellies · 03/03/2023 22:09

You may take my bread, but you will have to prise my potatoes from my cold dead hands.

familyissues12345 · 03/03/2023 22:12

One slice of sourdough at lunch. I try not to eat too much bread

Aquarius1234 · 03/03/2023 22:12

Sliced processed bread doesn't even seem like bread.

Choccyoclocky · 03/03/2023 22:12

I have about 2 slices in a fortnight. I rarely eat bread because I just don't enjoy it. I don't eat sandwiches (except jam haha). Or maybe I'm just sick of the sight of bread from making packed lunches, which is 4 sandwiches a day!

Oneofakind1 · 03/03/2023 22:16

So quite a lot of people who don’t eat bread at all or very little. I never know what to have for breakfast unless it’s toast as I don’t particularly like milk so never have cereal.

I do usually try to have only one piece of bread a day although that’s still seven slices a week!

One slice of bread is nothing.
Hardly a thick Uncut bacon sandwich every day. Or baguette.

Cheese omelette with cherry tomatoes

Smoothie bowl (smoothie made with banana, cocoa powder, tiny bit of milk and peanut butter) with nuts and seeds

Full fat Greek yoghurt with fruit and nuts

3 scrambled eggs with mushrooms

Yeah, but bread is just THERE, next to the toaster, flaunting it’s slices and saying ‘Mmmm, c’mon, warm me up and slather me in President unsalted… again! More! With marmalade! Again, oh yes, AGAIN, with marmite…. Or Nutella… or …. Oh, EVERYTHING’

And before you know it you have eaten enough calories for this week and next.

LucyLeave · 03/03/2023 22:22

I'd still be hungry after an omelette or a smoothie.

None. I'm gluten free and GF bread tastes like shit. I miss it so much though...hot buttered toast is the best 😭

Same

Annoyingwurringnoise · 03/03/2023 22:23

You’re all so greedy on here. We have one slice of Nimble per week between six of us and that does all breakfasts and lunches, and we struggle to finish it all.

CornedBeef451 · 03/03/2023 22:24

None. I love it but bread is not my friend.

About once every two weeks I'll eat a home made wrap/chapatti type thing and that's it.

We only eat home made bread. Shop bought bread is for the common people.

WingBingo · 03/03/2023 22:26

Well somebody is eating all the bread.
