How much bread have you eaten today?

I had one slice of toast for breakfast, one focaccia roll for lunch and another slice of toast with my tea.

I am wondering if many people eat as much bread as that on an average day. I’m not sure it agrees with me these days!

None. I don't eat breakfast. I had lunch out and it was sea trout and salad, coffee, carrot cake.

For dinner I had home made veg curry and rice.

So it just so happens I had no bread today.

Most days I would have some, but never 2 bread based meals in a day. It definitely bloats me.

FrownedUpon · 03/03/2023 20:35

None. It really bloats me & I eat low carb now.

Nudity · 03/03/2023 20:35

None.

I very rarely eat bread.

LucyLeave · 03/03/2023 20:36

Too many. I'm a carb addict.

LucyLeave · 03/03/2023 20:38

Why do people always say 'cheap white bread'?

What about 'cheap brown bread' ?

CandyflossKid · 03/03/2023 20:39

None, I love bread, but am on a low carb diet due to type 2 diabetes so have to limit myself to a couple of slices of seeded bread per week 🙁

HerodAntipasti · 03/03/2023 20:39

Two for brunch, toasted, with poached eggs.

Two for dinner, as peanut butter and jam sandwich.

(Jackson’s of Yorkshire super-seeded brown.)

GHxx · 03/03/2023 20:41

I always remember once at school in home economics the teacher said you should aim to eat 4-6 slices per day 🤔 That seemed a lot at the time. I’m currently pregnant and easily getting that in 😂 it’s just so good! A bagel for breakfast, panini for lunch, garlic bread with dinner. Might have a midnight snack of some toast later 🙄

BebbanburgIsMine · 03/03/2023 20:41

None,

I'm not a fan of bread

EarringsandLipstick · 03/03/2023 20:43

I also eat potatoes every day 😱

Why on earth would you have a 😱 emoji about eating potatoes? They are a great nutritious food - what can be problematic is how they are cooked (French fries not so good) or what they are eaten with (heaped baked potato may not be ideal).

It's mad that people demonise food like this.

That's annoying. I have relative that is type 2 yet eats loads of bread and is slim.

Is a few jacket potatoes a week fine?
And chips twice..

Aquarius1234 · 03/03/2023 20:46

Obv the issue is being overweight but more two stone over weight .. not enough for me to cry about it.. yet.

EarringsandLipstick · 03/03/2023 20:46

I don't think I really think much about eating bread - I don't eat much but could perhaps have wholemeal + peanut butter for breakfast & maybe a pitta for lunch. I'd have more if I wanted to.

Is there a suggestion that it's problematic to eat bread? (I mean for some people, it's clearly something they struggle with digestively, but there is nothing wrong with bread inherently)

Who could say based on that alone? But I'd say, certainly it is!

Aquarius1234 · 03/03/2023 20:47

The problem I have when I try and avoid bread is I just eat a large bowl or cereal instead. And feel massively hungry in evening.

Blanketpolicy · 03/03/2023 20:48

Dont think I've had a slice of bread this week yet. Too many Lots of other carbs, but not bread. Im not keen on sandwiches, so only would have it as toast really, but prefer Porridge in winter.

JulesJules · 03/03/2023 20:49

Not during the week, even though we make our own (bread machine) but I sometimes have roast tomatoes on toast on Sundays, or a veggie sausage sandwich for a late weekend breakfast.

bellac11 · 03/03/2023 20:50

I remember the old fashioned advice from the 80s and 90s to have 4-6 slices of bread a day, all part of the low fat movement

Made me fat

OneMoreCookieMonster · 03/03/2023 20:51

None, today or rarely. I do love bread though all types. I usually have it maybe 2-3 per month. Just don't seem to get around to it

MrsRandom123 · 03/03/2023 20:51

None but i’m not a big bread eater i’ll have the odd bit of toast with egg or some garlic bread with pasta but not every day

LucyLeave · 03/03/2023 20:52

I always have toast for breakfast. Then a sandwich for lunch. Nothing else really fills me up.

nevertakeadvicefromsomeonewhosfallingapart · 03/03/2023 20:52

None but I'm trying to lose weight, so I've cut out bread completely. I did have a ryvita though 😂

Normally I'd only have a slice a day though in a sandwich.

Sunsetintheeast · 03/03/2023 20:53

None. I rarely eat bread, no reason, but just not part of my regular diet.

Chesneyhawkes1 · 03/03/2023 20:54

None today. Normally I have two slices of Wholemeal though.
