Do your bedroom curtains match your bedding?

Try not to get too excited over this topic of conversation!

Do you have matching bedding and curtains? Or do they at least compliment each other? Do lots of people have curtains that just clash with their bedding?

We have 3 different sets of bedding one of them definitely doesn’t go with the curtains, it bugs me every time it’s on the bed (which is all winter because it’s our cosy brushed cotton bedding)

No curtain here. Shutters

but when I did… good friend NEVER matchy matchy. I can’t stand that look!

Vegrocks · 01/03/2023 17:27

Good grief not good friend!!

Hadalifeonce · 01/03/2023 17:28

No. All bedding is white. But, I did cover our headboard to match the curtains.

Some of the bedrooms have plain curtains with patterned bedlinen, some have patterned curtains with plain bedlinen. Never the twain shall meet.

Xrays · 01/03/2023 17:30

Nope. I mean they don’t clash - curtains are grey with a pattern and room is dark Green, bedding is jungle sort of green pattern. But no they don’t “go” together!

JorisBonson · 01/03/2023 17:33

Not exactly, but everything in our bedroom is shades of blue / navy and white, including the bedding and the curtains.

Matching curtains are the least of your worries if you leave your bedding on all winter . It's a Mumsnet rule that bedding should be washed twice a day. More often if someone has been outside and sat on it when they came in Grin

MogTheMoogle · 01/03/2023 17:40

Oh there's a set that matches, bought in the excitement of decorating and curtain buying where everything goes together.

There was also an intention to buy more sets and get rid of the unmatched ones...but 😕

Most don't however, and the ones that does rarely gets on the bed tbh....

MrsClatterbuck · 01/03/2023 17:53

I had this in the eighties matching bedding and curtains plus light shade. Even down to the fitted sheet and tie backs. Eventually gave them to charity shop. Now I have blinds but no curtains in new house will get round to getting curtains sometime

Can you still get matching curtains? Not that I'm going to go there

PetitPorpoise · 01/03/2023 17:53

No, our bedroom is the very last of our decorating priorities. The curtains are ones I bought for my first rented house in 2011 and the bedding is nothing like it and the carpet is red Envy.

Wednesdaysotherchild · 01/03/2023 17:55

Hah, no. My bedding doesn’t even match my bedding! I intentionally use complementary shades but nothing actually matches - I hate matchy matchy!

soleilblue · 01/03/2023 17:55

No! I had no idea this was an option

This. We’ve shutters throughout too, and matching things give me irrational rage.

IntentionalError · 01/03/2023 17:58

No. It would never even occur to either of us to think about matching curtains to bed linen. Do people really worry about this stuff?

ApolloandDaphne · 01/03/2023 17:59

No. Our curtains have a major pattern and our bedding is fairly plain and neutral.

PacificallyRequested · 01/03/2023 18:00

LOL, no! Sometimes the pillow cases don't even match the duvet cover.

TheFallenMadonna · 01/03/2023 18:01

I was going to say that my bedding doesn't match my bedding, and I see I'm not alone. I like it that way. Matchy matchy isn't me.

Custardbanana · 01/03/2023 18:04

No, I'm not 9yrs old anymore.

MurderAtTheBeautyPageant · 01/03/2023 18:05

I don't think it's a very chic look

reluctantbrit · 01/03/2023 18:07

No and I didn't even think about this.

Curtains are drawn when I go to bed and when I sleep I can't care less about the colour and pattern clash.

QueSyrahSyrah · 01/03/2023 18:08

Roman blind is one block colour and all bedding matches / tones with / goes with / doesn't clash with that colour.

overthinkersanonnymus · 01/03/2023 18:09

I have two scatter cushions in the same material as curtains coz I just love it

AldiorLidl · 01/03/2023 18:09

No! I'd feel like my mum if they did 😆

NoSuchThingAsMe · 01/03/2023 18:09

I think using the actual same fabric is really naff. I wouldn't get bedding that completely clashed though.

Exactly. I have just put freshly-laundered bedlinen on my bed, and the sheet is dark blue, the duvet cover red and white ticking fabric, and the pillowcases are orange (90s Habitat), red, and a strange grey abstract design that looks vaguely like ice cubes.
