To nobody’s surprise, the frantic pace of this latest game means that the last thread is full and (as far as I can see) <polishes lorgnette> we don’t yet have a successor. So, off we go with a Brunswick Lateral to

Russell Square

OH! I have been waiting for that move @ComeIntoTheGardenMaud! Thank you...

Heathrow Terminals 2 & 3

MarkWithaC · 16/10/2023 14:59

I do love seeing an expert in galophening in action!

Not nearly so elegant, but I'm calling a Buttress and saying Chiswick Park.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 16/10/2023 18:44

Yes, it’s unusual to see it this early in the week - I’m one of those fusty traditionalists who think it should be reserved for Thursday onwards - but it was very nicely done.

Gunnersbury

Well Maud, if you think that chuntering about minor breaches of etiquette is going to distract us all from what you’re up to then you’re mistaken. I can see exactly what you’re planning there, and I’m going to thwart it with a Half Nelson to Hammersmith.

LlynTegid · 17/10/2023 07:23

Which Hammersmith? I assume the District line one, so cross the road and get a train to Goldhawk Road.

MarkWithaC · 17/10/2023 09:37

I thought District too, having looked at Section 7(e) in the 1928 Rules.
Which gives me the option of playing Elm Park (using the El-Fatish exception, obviously).

HazelBite · 18/10/2023 08:13

This is getting complicated, not wanting to end up in Nidd I must go to Westminster

MarkWithaC · 18/10/2023 09:41

A transverse decimal to Kingsbury (and don't spare the horses).

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 18/10/2023 12:24

Going via Westminster adds another dimension of complication, but we can contrive a lateral to

Waterloo

OP posts:
LlynTegid · 18/10/2023 12:46

The Waterloo and City line to the rescue- Bank.

MarkWithaC · 18/10/2023 13:06

Darn, I'd been saving up my quadrants in the hope of being able to play the percentage rule, but clearly that won't work here.

Wimbledon Park

With apologies, but you do all understand, I'm sure.

TragicMuse · 18/10/2023 13:39

Oh. OH. Ohhhhhhhhh.

You precious precious thing @MarkWithaC.

I almost daren't, but...

Morning Crescent.

TragicMuse · 18/10/2023 13:41

I didn't see it coming at all, I want to be clear.

But I did see a meteor last night so the stars clearly aligned for me!!

LlynTegid · 18/10/2023 14:04

Incomplete spelling rule, so we are still at Wimbledon Park.

Until I move to Parsons Green.

TragicMuse · 18/10/2023 14:10

DAMMIT! Foiled by autocorrect!

MarkWithaC · 18/10/2023 14:33

Oh how cruel!

And yet, I am now enabled to use a move demoed at the last Harrogate conference (you all know who by, their reputation precedes them, in more ways than one)
and say

Warwick Avenue

HazelBite · 18/10/2023 17:37

I have to go with Edgeware Road

TragicMuse · 18/10/2023 18:53

Rayners Lane.

I choose to put Harrogate out of my mind. The Contessa was most affronted, she dropped her lorgnette. The Padre had to don an extra hair-shirt to cope and the wine under-butler is still trying to restore the cellar to its former glory.

How that person got away with only a small fine I shall never know. Cough friends with the Lord chief justice cough.

LlynTegid · 18/10/2023 20:50

I missed Harrogate and am grateful in a way.

Eastcote.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 18/10/2023 21:43

There are three types of player of the game of games; those who always go to the Harrogate tournament, those who wouldn’t dream of going, and those who would go if only the injunction could be lifted. That is all I shall say on the matter.

St John’s Wood

OP posts:
MarkWithaC · 19/10/2023 12:05

You're absolutely right, Maud.

I'm going to Becontree. And yes, I know what you're all going to say, but that upside-down two-grip earlier (you know who you are) means the usually obvious option is not at all viable.

DuckonaBike · 19/10/2023 20:27

There was no need to mention the injunction, Maud. I’ve always felt that Contessa overreacted enormously and the stories about the lute were a complete fabrication.

Bow Church

MarkWithaC · 20/10/2023 09:50

Least said soonest mended about the lute, I say.

I'm using the Amalgamated Fifth to take us to Pontoon Dock

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 20/10/2023 16:17

As I recall, it wasn’t so much about the lute as the harpsichord and, more particularly, the harpsichordist but, as you rightly observe, DuckOnABike, time is a great healer.

Mile End

OP posts:
LlynTegid · 24/10/2023 12:36

I think a short move to Dagenham East on a Tuesday is sensible. No lutes or aged string instruments to distract us there.
