Run of the mill foods that you just can’t stomach?

What’s your ‘normal’ run of the mill for that you just can’t?

I’ll go first…

warmed tuna, like tuna tomato pasta or a tuna melt… anything with warm tuna is a hard pass.

mystery meat, like frankfurters etc, i could never eat a hot dog, and those hot dogs that you see in jars Vom.com

Cheesecake. Hate everything about it and want to gag just looking at it.

Most cooked green veg. Cabbage, broccoli, kale, peas, etc.

Surely2023IsTheYearForMyRainbowBaby · 19/02/2023 22:29

Bananas although I do like banana bread, foam bananas and dried bananas. Just not normal bananas so I think it must be the texture.

Porridge. Absolutely vile. The smell and look alone make me wanna boak. Although as a small child ironically the only thing I would eat was porridge breakfast dinner and tea. I must've porridged myself out.

Rice pudding, semolina, tapioca, macaroni (sweet version) custard and runny cream

Weetabix

Merrilydancing · 19/02/2023 22:31

Cold chicken in a sandwich. Love cold chicken in a salad but draw the line if it’s put between two slices of bread.

lifechanginglemoncake · 19/02/2023 22:32

Dried fruit. Don't like any of it (making me a bit of a grinch at Christmas since I shun mince pies, Christmas cake etc). Dislike all of it but my least favourite is dried apricots. Something about the texture makes me heave.

Other strange one is cinnamon. I hate it and it ruins many a good dessert. I can cope with it as a spice in savoury food but I find it ruins sweet things.

Rainbow1901 · 19/02/2023 22:40

Weetabix with hot milk - don't mind Weetabix or Hot milk just not together!
Brussels Sprouts - boiled is a no no - but son does a great stir fry with them so go figure!!
Cooked Bananas - uncooked is fine but cooked is a no no - so no Banana Bread or fried bananas! But love a Banana Milkshake!
And chocolate - of any kind - just not a lover of the taste or texture - can manage the odd celebrations twix sweet with a cup of tea but otherwise no chocolate for me.

elm26 · 19/02/2023 22:44

Jam
sandwich spread (can remember my nan having sandwich spread sandwiches 🤮)
Oysters
Tinned Sardines
Crab sticks

elm26 · 19/02/2023 22:45

Sultanas or any other kind of dry fruit

Tinned rice pudding. Can’t bear the texture. And for similar reasons, pearl barley (the sort of thing they put in soup) and any meat fat that hasn’t been thoroughly rendered and crisped up. I’m also a bit odd with Bird’s type custard (custard made from fresh with cream and real vanilla is an exception). I never recovered from the sight of great vats of school custard with the dried congealed lumps around the rim.

It was seeing that lumpy congealed custard with a thick layer of skin over it 33 years ago that put me off custard for life. I can tolerate it in a shop bought trifle or a vanilla slice but that is it. I grabbed some donuts once Whilst on a break at work ready to have a with a cuppa when I got home. Took one out of the pack. Took a massive bite only to have custard spurt out into my mouth. I gagged and had all on trying not to boak everywhere. I also cried a lot ( Pregnant and hormonal ) someone must've put the custard ones in front of the jam ones.

MyGrandmaLizzie · 19/02/2023 22:53

Liver. The taste and the texture makes me gag.

SusanPerbCallMeSue · 19/02/2023 22:55

Most cheese.I can tolerate mild cheddar and that sort of cheese. Or melted cheese on pizzas, pasta dishes etc. But other than that, nope.

Coffee. So gross. I won't kiss my bf after he's had a cup. When I was young I thought I didn't like it as it was a grown ups drink, and I'd like it when I was grown up. Guess I haven't grown up yet!

Nuts. They spoil things, like cake and chocolates when they are added. Disgusting.

GuiltyPleasure · 19/02/2023 22:57

Absolutely agree with warm tuna, especially a tuna pasta bake.
Also porridge. One of my colleagues has one of those microwave ones every morning & the smell is revolting.
The smell of cheesecake turns my stomach. My DD made a different one every week a year for her food tech GCSE & I can't even look at a cheesecake now without feeling sick.

cheapskatemum · 19/02/2023 23:01

I don't like warm tinned tuna either. Also, sausage rolls, which everyone seems to love. I like puff pastry & I like sausages & sausage meat, but there's something about them combined that I dislike. I think it's the way the pastry gets greasy from the sausage fat.

JennyDarlingRIP · 19/02/2023 23:04

Baked beans.or bananas, both disgusting slimy texture. Also not a fan of coleslaw, how can something be creamy, acidic, soggy and slightly crunchy , warm because it's been left out on a buffet table and 🤢, I can just about tolerate the much less glutinous ones you get in restaurants often just called slaw, but wouldn't order it by choice.
I don't think there's anything else I don't eat.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 19/02/2023 23:06

Raw tomatoes. The inside is like phlegm

JennyDarlingRIP · 19/02/2023 23:06

Ohhh I forgot all Christmas sweet things, can't abide mince pies, Christmas cake, Christmas pudding etc. All tastes the same, like the bottom of someone's spice cupboard, left to ferment with the sticky scrapings of bottles of alcohol from Christmases past, just old stale and too strong.

Ripleysgameface · 19/02/2023 23:07

Gnocchi - lumps of rubber.

Halloumi - squeaky salt rubber.

Mozzarella balls - milk rubber.

NorthernSoul55 · 19/02/2023 23:20

Happy to see other beetroot haters here! We were served it with every school dinner in my formative years, and I mean, every dinner. I won't get over beetroot with gravy on.
Kippers.. OH loves them. I need two days notice so I can leave the house. And all traces must be disposed of properly.
I love chocolate, as in a bar of chocolate, but don't like chocolate flavoured things.

MyLoveIsYourLove0xO · 19/02/2023 23:27

somuchtolearnabout · 19/02/2023 20:56

Gherkins or pickles 🤢

There's a trend at the moment where people film themselves trying those ginormous pickles in different flavours, the idea of it. I can't. They come individually packed in a little sleeve with loads of juice and honestly even typing this out is making me dry heave. Brb

My dd has an opened one in the fridge 😷 sugar she puts on it..sugar Shock

MajesticWhine · 19/02/2023 23:28

Hard agree on the Christmas foods and the sultanas etc. Revolting.

WinterFoxes · 19/02/2023 23:30

Tomato soup - the thought of it makes me feel sick. I love tomatoes in every other form but Heinz tomato soup of similar makes me gag.

Frankfurter sausages too. I'd rather go very very hungry.

friendlycat · 19/02/2023 23:35

Warm tuna
Richmond sausages. Actually cheap sausages full stop
Cheap breaded chicken or fish
Thousand Island dressing
Ready Meals

DrFoxtrot · 19/02/2023 23:39

Vwswimmer1 · 19/02/2023 20:55

Mine is potato 🤢 it's the texture of it that gets me, particularly jacket, new, salad etc. I'm not a fan of chips or roasties but can just about manage them if they're covered in gravy and crispy.

Same 🤢 and they taste like soil. The McCains oven chip advert that sang about how fluffy the chips were. BARF 🤮

lollipoprainbow · 19/02/2023 23:40

Ketchup the smell makes me heave !

BebbanburgIsMine · 19/02/2023 23:41

I'm a fussy eater so probably most of them!

Milk
Fish
Pork
Turkey
Curry
Cottage Pie
Mash
Noodles
Cooked fruit
Any pie apart from Steak/Steak and Ale
Most desserts
Yogurt
Creamy or Milky anything
Tea
Chilli
Baked Beans

Lots more!

BeReet · 19/02/2023 23:43

I can't stand milk, butter or cream and never could even as a kid - dry toast, black tea and coffee etc
Lamb, the smell and the taste
Warm tuna
Sweetcorn - the way it 'pops' in your mouth 🤢
Tuna pasta bake (obviously)
Mac and cheese - smells and looks like vomit and I imagine is texturally similar too 🤮
Marzipan 🤢🤢🤢🤢
Pears - definitely the texture more than the taste.
