What just happened to me!?

I’m prepared to be told I’m mentally unwell and need to see a doctor (last resort) but I’m certain I just entered a time glitch.

I was driving into the countryside to collect my daughter from a sleepover and everything felt like it was really slow. I pulled over as I thought it was the car. I looked up and saw a Concorde flying above me. The type that were a common sight in the 90s and before. I’m 100% it was a Concorde and not a similar looking plane as I grew up near air fields and ports and watched them daily.

The car that was driving behind me had vanished. There was no where for it to go as we were on a very narrow country lane and over taking would have been very difficult. Even the birds were moving slower, like they were hovering not gliding.
I got back in the car and after 10 minutes or so everything was back to normal. I arrived late to collect my daughter so I’m not sure what happened with the time as I set off early. I saw the car behind me as I was pulling into the driveway of the house I was going to.

My husband thinks I’m pranking him, my best friend laughed and said I clearly drank too much last night (I didn’t), I’m confident I didn’t faint or black out so I don’t know what the explanation is.
I’ve Googled this specific place to see if there is anything ‘wrong’ but I can’t find any stories and no mention of Concorde sights. Ive seen a few stories of time stopping still for people but I’m sceptical about this sort of stuff. I just can’t shake the creepiness of it! Has this happened to anyone else?

Google Bold Street time slip!

I did and it's really interesting, recounted by someone you wouldn't expect to be crazy too! Goodnight Sweetheart springs to mind!

A plane that makes it feel like time has slowed down? Okay then.

Depends on whether the overall situation is stressful. The feeling of time slowing down can be stress induced. When we received the news that my husband had terminal lung cancer I remember distinctly a very similar feeling of time around me slowing down - GP explained later that it’s adrenalin related.

StopStartStop · 13/02/2023 12:59

No answers but I've driven in my sleep in the past, and so have others I know.
Also, there is or was a military aircraft that looks a lot like Concorde, especially when it's right above. I used to watch them from my garden.

Time lapse is a massive alarm bell for a seizure.

I have absence seizures. I don’t lose consciousness. Early on, I used to get a deafening rush of sound in my ears before they started. Similar to fighter plane flying low.

You should at least check it out with your GP.

Cornettoninja · 13/02/2023 13:00

@DotAndCarryOne2 but she wasn’t in a stressful situation was she?

Honestly, if this much reaching is needed to frame the situation as something that doesn’t require medical assessment and consideration of abstaining from driving until that’s happened then I have to question what on earth peoples motivations are???

Mirabai · 13/02/2023 13:03

Seizure at a guess.

bagelbagelbagel · 13/02/2023 13:03

This sounds exactly like a seizure to me. I would contact GP asap.

Wiluli · 13/02/2023 13:04

you reminded me of my best friend in school
, when we where both 16 she had a similar episode to yours and until today none of us found a explanation to it . I will not call you a liar or pretend to be sure if what happened but I’m a believe me in alternative theories and a time warp might be what happened ?
maybe make sure it’s nothing physical and if it’s not then welcome to the “ something very odd just happened to me club “ it’s a very special one 😀

MrsMoastyToasty · 13/02/2023 13:06

Are you sure that it wasn't a military plane or something like the Red Arrows?
I grew up very close to Filton, Bristol where Concorde was built and where one of them is now housed in a museum. At low altitude it was very noisy. It and the Red Arrows were the only planes that would rattle the windows of my parents house. It never happened with the Airbuses. Even at high altitude you could hear the sonic boom as it flew over.

ilovesushi · 13/02/2023 13:07

Hope it's not a health thing!

I lived in Norwich for a while and there was a certain corner in the old part where I got a very doom laden feel and I could half see a figure standing there but when I looked directly there was no one.

I experienced something similar, albeit around 15 years ago. I was with three friends and we all experienced the same thing so we ruled out anything seizure related. We were on Dartmoor, popped to a cute looking country pub, went out to the beer garden and felt that slow feeling walking to the door. When we got outside it was like we had been plunged into WW2. Hundreds of soldiers, military vehicles etc. it was surreal. I wondered if we had walked into a film set but no cameras, no crew, nothing. Very strange!

Warhorse was being filmed in West Devon in 2010 and re enactment groups have been meeting for years all over the Moor for decades.

You need to see if you can figure out a more realistic explanation of what happened before going to the drs as the first thing they will do is contact the dvla and they will take your license

No they won’t. That’s dreadful advice and could actively put someone off reporting what may or may not be a serious issue. What actually happens is that you go to see your doctor ASAP and tell them what happened. The doctor then determines whether they think it’s due to a ‘notifiable’ condition, or whether it’s stress related. If they advise you to stop driving you then fill out a form to let the DVLA know you have been so advised. There’s a lot of assumption here that this was a seizure, when in fact stress can be a cause. The first thing the OP needs to do is make an appointment to see her GP instead of messing about going down rabbit holes trying to make sense of it, and in the meantime possibly being a danger on the road.

Given the news of unidentified "objects" in Earths skies at the moment, you can expect to see an increase in reports of experiences as described by the OP. Particularly if you are near any kind of military installation.

I'm also reading discussions about the increase in the amount of people unexpectedly suffering from tinnitus since around the turn of the year. Some people are suggesting a link.

Oh, and the GP doesn’t inform the DVLA, the patient does. The GP will only inform DVLA if it’s clear the patient won’t. Even if you have to relinquish your licence, if you’re seizure free for 12 months, you’ll be able to apply to get it back.

You need to see the GP. You didn't see Concorde and the car behind you didn't disappear. Something happened in your brain and the fact it happened when you were driving is particularly concerning. You may well have momentarily fallen asleep or it could be a seizure of some sort. Please don't dismiss it as time lag or some other mumbo jumbo.

Also, some of the more modern fighters are that shape-ish. But

They are but unless the OP's very near an airbase where they take off from they appear very small, even then they climb very quickly. We get our weekly buzzing from the USAF at Lakenheath, they're high but my God they're loud.

Bog · 13/02/2023 13:13

Could it have been an Overture test flight?

Jenasaurus · 13/02/2023 13:13

I used to experience this as a child, everything in slow motion and also a feeling like something was holding my nose so I was struggling to breathe. I wonder it it was some sort of seizure that I grew out of, but I had them quite a lot and thought at the time everyone did.

Backthetruckup · 13/02/2023 13:14

Are you the same poster who said they witnessed souls ascending along the motorway???

Justalittlebitduckling · 13/02/2023 13:16

Burn out? I find intense stress/burn out can do things like that to your brain.

I was going to mention alice in wonderland syndrome too. I get this and it’s horrible, feels like the world is slowing down and the size of everything is distorted

I had this as a child although I'd never heard of the syndrome until now. I felt the distortion of sizes and the sensation of axtrain ryshing through my bedroom. I was about 5. I'm 68 now and never been diagnosed with anything neurological so I suppose I grew out if it.

CaptainMyCaptain · 13/02/2023 13:18

a train rushing

LoisWilkersonslastnerve · 13/02/2023 13:22

I had something very similar while driving op, gp reckoned it was carbon monoxide poisoning but no clue how/where. I felt like I was floating, not sure where I was for a brief few seconds and felt slight nausea. No time travel but I did lose some minutes. Lucky I didn't cause an accident. I would get checked out to put your mind at rest.
