What just happened to me!?

I’m prepared to be told I’m mentally unwell and need to see a doctor (last resort) but I’m certain I just entered a time glitch.

I was driving into the countryside to collect my daughter from a sleepover and everything felt like it was really slow. I pulled over as I thought it was the car. I looked up and saw a Concorde flying above me. The type that were a common sight in the 90s and before. I’m 100% it was a Concorde and not a similar looking plane as I grew up near air fields and ports and watched them daily.

The car that was driving behind me had vanished. There was no where for it to go as we were on a very narrow country lane and over taking would have been very difficult. Even the birds were moving slower, like they were hovering not gliding.
I got back in the car and after 10 minutes or so everything was back to normal. I arrived late to collect my daughter so I’m not sure what happened with the time as I set off early. I saw the car behind me as I was pulling into the driveway of the house I was going to.

My husband thinks I’m pranking him, my best friend laughed and said I clearly drank too much last night (I didn’t), I’m confident I didn’t faint or black out so I don’t know what the explanation is.
I’ve Googled this specific place to see if there is anything ‘wrong’ but I can’t find any stories and no mention of Concorde sights. Ive seen a few stories of time stopping still for people but I’m sceptical about this sort of stuff. I just can’t shake the creepiness of it! Has this happened to anyone else?

Something similar happened to me last month. Was out with DH and driving back on the motorway. DH drives a lot for work, totally familiar route. We have 3 very specific landmarks for driving home prior to our exit. We were chatting and the next thing we knew we were 3-4 exits past ours on our way to another city!! We both can’t work out what happened, DH very sceptical about things like this but even he has no explanation. Neither of us saw any of the landmarks we would have otherwise seen. You could say we both lost track due to the conversation but I’m sure it wasn’t that exciting 😂

Is it not more likely in this case that you were behind huge lorries that blocked your view?

WinterFoxes · 15/02/2023 08:13

Yoiu say the other car then reappeared? Could they have pulled off the road for the exact same reason?

There are - of course - things that happen in our world that are unexplainable. This is intriguing.

Sporty2022 · 15/02/2023 08:13

I think I’d put this down to a one off- unless it happens again. Going to a GP if the OP is fit and well might open a can of worms that ls not necessary. Like putting her on medication that she doesn’t need.

The GP obviously isn’t going to put this down to a time slip. And who knows- maybe the OP did experience something.

Im not woo at all but I’ve heard quite a few sane, normal people ( including my grandmother that I mentioned earlier) who’ve experienced something they cannot explain.

Thats why many other people who’ve experienced strange things don’t tell anyone- because they are not believed.

probably was a concord being piloted privately for something- filming a movie.. a rich persons day out.. or to take it somewhere for some reason…

There aren't any in flightworthy condition.

There were only 20 ever built there aren't any in private collections.

It could however have been a different aircraft with a similar shape.

Time slips are interesting because it is theoretically possible to time travel (though practically impossible). But if they were real, wouldn't we see more anachronisms in historical paintings and artefacts? Wouldn't we get people from the future slipping into our time and being sighted wearing futuristic clothes and telling us about events yet to come?

evemillbank · 15/02/2023 09:20

Hallucination

I always think time travel isn't possible because we'd know if people could come back from the future. Unless it's only possible to go into the future.

The more explanation is that humanity will die out before they discover how to do it.

It's theoretically possible. But you'd need to break the light barrier and have infinite resources, which isn't possible. And it would only work for travelling backwards.

There actually is though, just not in the way that's portrayed by movies

This is true. I can travel into the future at sixty minutes per hour.

QuertyGirl · 15/02/2023 09:42

Going to the docs to get this checked out does not make you closed minded.

It's just ruling out a possible, rational explanation.

Iateallthewotsits · 15/02/2023 09:52

Has anyone got a GP like mine though who would probably just stare at you blankly if you said something like that happened once? I bet you anything they would just say “keep an eye on it.”

Thats even if you got past the receptionist with your reason for wanting an appointment.

I had a friend who said he had “waking nightmares” for years. He said he would zone out for a few seconds and see horrible images.

Turned out he had epilepsy. But that was after years and years of going to the doctor and being told all was fine and to get more sleep/exercise more/stop drinking/you’ve got anxiety or depression.

He only got listened to when he joined a company with a private healthcare scheme and got seen by a neurologist that way.

Here here! In particular Bold street, just too many people have reported. And many other places in L’pool …

I abd dh walk up Bold Street regularly and my ds does multiple times a week as he goes to and from college. We've never experienced one of the slips yet. I first read about the time slips in Tom Slemen's series of books and I would love to experienc one.

JollyJolene · 15/02/2023 10:23

We live in Surrey and fairly frequently (as in three/four times a year) we hear, but never see, a Concorde like plane flying overhead. I always assume it’s military craft. Maybe that’s what you heard.

poissonfou · 15/02/2023 10:26

OP, I got a few lines into your post and thought seizure/ medical episode of some kind. No I’m not a neurologist, however I’ve had epilepsy in all it’s guises for over 30 years. In order to rule this out you need a referral from your GP for an EEG. Please do this for peace of mind, just as valid as spending your time on Facebook looking for other possibilities. 💐

ICanFeelItComingInTheAirTonight · 15/02/2023 10:42

Changed username as outing to people that know me. Didn't happen to me specifically, but happened to my DH. He was driving down a part of the a21 near Hastings when fog appeared on his side of the road, but he said the cars on the other side of the road were driving normal speed, so no fog on that side of the road. He couldn't even see the bonnet, but could see the dipped beams (definitely not fog lights) from the cars on the other side. He slowed right down, no cars behind him so no one overtook.
The fog only lasted about 10 minutes, but when he came out of it, he was in the exact same place. What should have taken an hour to get home took 3, even taking into account the lowering of the speed. His exW and DC were in the car as well and experienced it and have verified his story.

bagelbagelbagel · 15/02/2023 10:45

B-2 stealth bombers make a hell of a racket, despite their name. We sometimes see them here on the south coast,

Originalmumster · 15/02/2023 10:50

I get the buzzing (tinnitus) as a warning before I faint .while I’m out of it I go into a dreamlike state and can hear others in the background. The most memorable time this happened was during my c section and I could hear the nurse say we’re losing her and the anaesthetist called for adrenaline then I was back

Queenbee77 · 15/02/2023 11:39

#Grizzledstrawberry# yes you had an 'out of body experience'. I ha e hadone and it was weird but I felt quite calm. Didnt know what it was at the time but then a year later read about it in a magazine. Apparently some people can do it 'at will'. So I firmly believe there are more things we dont understand. I don t have epilepsy or any other mental or physical illness. I am enjoying this thread immensly and want to hear more. I think there may be another dimension that we can pass on into or something like that. So its a but like time travel. I have had a few experiences of dreams of places I havent yet been to and then actually gone there and known what was around the corner or whatever. I am sure some people make it too but I kniw what I have seen and experienced. Althou once when I saw a Stealth plane up near Cragside in Northumberland, it was quiet and flew so low it seem to touch the treetops. I honestly thought I had seen a UFO. Airfields wouldnt confirm it was out flying....dooh...I realised as it is a war plane. In that moment it did feel like time stood still....my dad who was with me...didn't see it !!!as he was a hundred meter away with my younger sister. Blooming great black plane nearly took his head off...haha..and he didnt believe me as he didnt see it. Still I am sure someone will remember it....It was late 90s I think. If anything like that happens to me again I will take a photo...but no mobile phone back then. Sometimes thou you are just too freaked out to remember to shout look or take a photo.

Queenbee77 · 15/02/2023 11:51

Ok...so imagine this.....you are driving and a military plane is on manoeuvre.....it has new specialised instuments on board that may affect certain types of cars!! Interfere with the driving mechanism in some way. Both you and the car behind are experiencing problems...you both pull over as your cars are slowing down and making noises.?? You are a little shocked about what is happening and you sit awile and obviously the plane is seen overhead and as the plane leaves....your car is working properly again and you drive off. The other car also start and drive off......possibility.....doesnt have to be anything medical. People should think a little more ' outside the box'. You had a strange experience no matter what and you are perfectly sane. I had an outvof body experience and I know it happened. I have been tested....lol....I am sane. It also happened a long time ago. I may have been tired at the time but I was relaxed sitting on a sofa when it happened. Dont worry yourself but treat it as a ' fun and different' experience.

justasking111 · 15/02/2023 12:15

We're not too far from an RAF base. One starlit night was walking the dog along side fields near the Conwy river. Felt a shift looked up something was there, stars and light obliterated. There was a blackness and absence of sound. Then it was gone.

I presumed it was something experimental operating in our hills, valleys and mountains.

HazelnutD · 15/02/2023 13:22

I agree with @MattDillonsEyebrows I don't think you fell asleep at the wheel or had a seizure and also agree you would be wise to see a doctor just to rule out any medical reason. I also agree that things happen to people that are unexplainable and will probably never be explained, scary I think but very interesting.

Queenbee77 · 15/02/2023 16:08

I am keen to find out the name of the road. Would go there just to drive up and down to see if anything happened. What time of day and what day? I am off to Liverpool to check out Bold street next month. Got my friend intrigued! Something made your car go funny ....its definately not you OP. My guess you have it spot on and the plane had something to do with it. Best thread in a while!
