What just happened to me!?

I’m prepared to be told I’m mentally unwell and need to see a doctor (last resort) but I’m certain I just entered a time glitch.

I was driving into the countryside to collect my daughter from a sleepover and everything felt like it was really slow. I pulled over as I thought it was the car. I looked up and saw a Concorde flying above me. The type that were a common sight in the 90s and before. I’m 100% it was a Concorde and not a similar looking plane as I grew up near air fields and ports and watched them daily.

The car that was driving behind me had vanished. There was no where for it to go as we were on a very narrow country lane and over taking would have been very difficult. Even the birds were moving slower, like they were hovering not gliding.
I got back in the car and after 10 minutes or so everything was back to normal. I arrived late to collect my daughter so I’m not sure what happened with the time as I set off early. I saw the car behind me as I was pulling into the driveway of the house I was going to.

My husband thinks I’m pranking him, my best friend laughed and said I clearly drank too much last night (I didn’t), I’m confident I didn’t faint or black out so I don’t know what the explanation is.
I’ve Googled this specific place to see if there is anything ‘wrong’ but I can’t find any stories and no mention of Concorde sights. Ive seen a few stories of time stopping still for people but I’m sceptical about this sort of stuff. I just can’t shake the creepiness of it! Has this happened to anyone else?

How long ago did this happen? Might you be 'remembering' a dream?

Hi exaltedwombat, About 25 years ago and no, definitely not a dream. My sister remembers it well too. One of the photos of our holiday (Brynteg in Snowdonia) was taken under an arch part of a castle. A few minutes later we saw the frog and then the dried-up pond. We thought for years that the arch of the castle (then turned into a hotel, might still be one) was something to do with it, but then found out the castle was fairly new ie only two or three centuries old (!) and read this on the internet:

"A building existed here many, many centuries ago and the old road passing near the Castle existed in ancient times as a drovers trail through Llanberis Pass and beyond even as far as England. It is an ancient landscape."

So I now think it was more to do with the road. Still a mystery, whatever happened! :)

If it was a stroke/seizure wouldn’t I feel something physically happening with my body?

not necessarily.

It’s also worth checking the carbon monoxide levels in your home/work. Low oxygen can do some funky things to your brain.

Absolutely this. There is a type of stroke which can cause this symptom very common in older people. Also good point re checking carbon monoxide hope you have an alarm in your house everyone should have as well as a smoke alarm. But more positively stress and tiredness can do unexpected things to you. Tbh I’d go to GP and get a check up on this incident.

@AutumnScream
Wow!
There used to be three stations in Liverpool. Lime Street (main one) Exchange station ( long gone) and Central Station underground plus James Street station nearer the docks which served places over the water such as Birkenhead.
Decades ago when I lived there, before the gentrification of Lime Street station, I used to get an odd feeling crossing the concourse towards the furthest exit. Not the main exit or the one open to Mount Pleasant but the one opening by what was the waiting room. I felt as if I was walking in slow motion or having to walk through thick air. Sounds mad but until now I had forgotten all about it. It happened every time but never to my friends. They used to ask what was holding me back. Scary.

There are loads of Flight Radar nerds on MN (myself included!) - if it were a privately owned Concorde test flight type thing as a PP suggested, perhaps someone spotted it. Maybe you could start another thread with an FR appeal in the title to draw attention? It's also possible that someone might have seen what sort of aircraft were in the area at the time.

The only other thing I can think of is some sort of seizure, again as PPs have said. Might be worth seeing your GP.

As an Aviation expert, I can tell you with absolute certainty that NO Concordes or any other (non-military) supersonic aircraft have a permit to fly in the UK or to my knowledge, anywhere else. Boom hasn’t yet either.

I had a similar incident once. I was driving on the freeway. My dog was in the back seat. Suddenly the car felt like it was flying. The sound around me was like we were outside the car. I looked back at my dog and she was looking at me very strangely. Then just as suddenly, everything was back to normal. I actually arrived to where I was going 10 minutes sooner than I could have possibly gotten there. It was really strange. It only happened the one time. I don’t think I will ever forget that.

So basically it's either, secret, military, flown off the books ect

Nobody understands 'time'. It's an idea that can be investigated mathematically, but really it's a 'thing' that's simply beyond comprehension. I'm inclined to believe you had a strange 'time' experience. Have you noticed before that you're 'sensitive' , as it's called? I wish that didn't sound like a loony question ; it's a simple fact that some people are more sensitive to weird experiences than others.

Time is an illusion.

Lunchtime doubly so.

Logicalreasoning

I’m sure you’re already aware but if not, please google temporal lobe epilepsy as this happened to me for about 20 years with the weird deja vu and then a few years ago I had a proper seizure x

Apparently the quantum level of time, is not a straight progression, and it's more like a river

Surely you need a stronger Brownian Motion generator than a cold river? How about a nice cup of tea instead?

I always prefer a good cuppa, especially when the research and development labs eg skunk works, area 51, Porter down are in operation

'There is a theory. There could be some logic to the belief that time is fluid, like a river, with currents, eddies, backwash.'

I might be an idea to see your GP. You might have had a seizure. Not all seizures make you drop to the floor. You can have one while remaining standing.

newskinnyminnieme · 22/02/2023 16:49

Omg - which station?? I’ll check it out!

You don't live around Leicester at all do you @2wombraiders ????
