Just curious to know what other people's ideal temperature is

18.5 all day long. 19 if it drops below freezing at night.

OldTinHat · 06/02/2023 14:15

Zero.

We don't have a thermostat. 🤔

The central heating has an on/off switch and you can't heat the water separately either.

I want to get this changed but DH says it's fine as it is.

I have a digital clock with a temperature setting in my main living space so I use this as a guide. Once it reaches 19° in the evening, I turn the heating off and only put it on if it drops below 17°.

We didn't have a thermostat when we moved into our house. Drove me crazy so we got one of those Hive things fitted.

16 overnight. 18 for a couple of hours in the morning. 16 through the day. 20 after dinner until bedtime (though it rarely reaches this temp and if it does it’s stifling!).

It’s a cottage that’s well insulated, but with stone floors.

Feel very lucky that we can afford to have the heating on.

You may have a point btu I doubt anyone has the thermostat in the fridge or next to the oven!
There are standard places to put them....

@TheBigWangTheory

obviously people don't have them in their fridge, but a LOT of people need extreme examples to understand. A thermostat in a draughty hallway and a thermostat in a sitting room with heavy curtains can't be compared.

These days there really aren't 'standard' places to put them, with so many being portable etc.

22 during the day, 20.5-21 during the night

readingismycardio · 07/02/2023 17:43

but we live in a new build and everything is super well insulated and triple windows so doesn't go under 20.5 usually.

xprincessxjanetx · 07/02/2023 19:19

22 but it never reaches that. Highest it gets at the moment is around 18c. I just haven't bothered to change the target temp.
