Just curious to know what other people's ideal temperature is

OP posts:

18 in the day (if someone is home), 15 at night or if nobody is home, although it rarely gets down to that. I might boost it to 19 if I come home feeling chilly.

I hate being too hot and I would be uncomfortable if it was set above 20.

EVHead · 03/02/2023 16:49

17° plus a heated throw.

I'm surprised people would be maintaining at say 19 to 22 all day. Or is that the temp for when the heating is on? We have recently moved house and unfortunately no longer have a smart thermostat. So we have the heating off and then turn it on at say 22 for a bit on an evening then poss a morning if it's very cold.

But it would cost a fortunate to maintain at 19 all the time.

Depends on your house insulation. Ours is very well insulated so stays up around 21/22 all day without the system coming on.

gwenneh · 03/02/2023 16:51

Between 19-21 during the day, 18 at night. We have two zones, the downstairs one is always on 18 - the boiler being downstairs keeps it very warm anyway.

ShinyPikachu · 03/02/2023 16:51

It's set to kick in at any time overnight if it drops below 17.5°. Heating is set at 20° for one hour in the morning when everyone gets up but it isn't set for any other time, we just turn it on if it's needed since every day is different.

watchfulwishes · 03/02/2023 16:52

But the bloody thermostat doesn't work so often doesn't come on.

tornadoinsideoutfig · 03/02/2023 16:52

Answer to your title, 14
Answer to your post 16, was 17/18 but having the thermostat set to 14 has meant I have acclimatised

JennyDarlingRIP · 03/02/2023 16:53

20 but only for two hours in the morning and two hours in the evening, thermostat is upstairs in DS' room, downstairs is usually a degree or so cooler unless we have the log burner on

BooksAndHooks · 03/02/2023 16:53

Ideal temperature is 20. It is set at 14 so effectively off.

stoodmyground · 03/02/2023 16:54

22 day and night.

JennyDarlingRIP · 03/02/2023 16:56

It's not come on yet (5:30-7:30) just checked thermostat and it's 19 degrees upstairs and getting dark so cooler than earlier when there was sunshine streaming through the windows

maddiemookins16mum · 03/02/2023 16:57

18.5

Tuesday591 · 03/02/2023 16:57

19 but my ideal would be 21

megletthesecond · 03/02/2023 16:59
  1. Down to 18 at night.
Nannyfannybanny · 03/02/2023 17:00

18c,if I'm in,and sitting around. I manually turn it down and off,if I am going out,or an hour before going to bed. Night time, comfortable with 12c.

tornadoinsideoutfig · 03/02/2023 17:08

Forgot to add, our 14 is for two hours in the evening and an hour on weekend mornings or holidays. The coldest weekend in December I just left it on in the day as the house wasn't holding a reasonable heat. If I feel cold I shut doors so the sitting room gets warmer than the hallway.

15 when in standby, 21 for a couple of hours in the morning. The rest of the day is 'do we need it?'. This is our first year with a Hive and I am really pleased with the controllability of it.

Nevermindthesquirrels · 03/02/2023 17:15

24c but we're very lucky to live in an eco flat that has MVHR and amazing insulation so this costs very little.

TwoBlueFish · 03/02/2023 17:20

18 in the day and 14 at night

FourTeaFallOut · 03/02/2023 17:20

19.5c all day long with an occasional boost to 21c if I'm drowning under washing and 16.5c overnight, unless the weather is Baltic when I increase the overnight to 17.5c.

JadeSeahorse · 03/02/2023 17:21

12 - 13 but 24 hrs per day.

House - 4 bed detached - very well insulated but we also have living flame gas fire on in the sitting room 10 hours per day on the lowest setting.

This is working fine for us so far - both retired/just 2 of us now - but we had the GCH power flushed during the summer and the radiators are now throwing out so much more heat.

This time last year the thermostat was set 19/20 24 hrs per day whilst still using the gas fire as we are now. Power flush was expensive but so far worth every penny.

Fallspice · 03/02/2023 17:27

There are millions and millions of different people in the UK, you’ll get temperature ranges between be 6-25! Ooh 9 is plenty hot for me, I can’t survive lower than 22.

Yes I’m grumpy, currently at the in laws place which feels colder than outside, drinking weak, tepid tea listening to them excitedly talking about their for forthcoming 3 week business class trip to Australia. They don’t ever have the heating on because it’s too expensive.

Workbaseddrama · 03/02/2023 17:28

Mines at 22, any lower and the heating doesn't kick in upstairs where it is FREEZING without heating!
