Power ballads - which do you like and dislike

Like: We've Got Tonight by Bob Seger
All I Have by Beth Nielsen Chapman
I Want To Know What Love Is by Foreigner

Dislike: I Don't Want To Miss A Thing by Aerosmith
Wind Of Change by Scorpions

I'm not a big fan of this musical genre, I admit. That's probably why my list is so small. I especially think it's weird hearing rock and metal bands doing them. It's like Foster and Allen singing Highway To Hell.

I'm not sure if Gloria by Laura Brannigan counts as a PB but it does start quietish and build up in volume. Great to sing along to (loudly, of course). I also love Helen Reddy's version of I Don't Know How to Love Him for the same reason. Lovely crescendo in that one.

Actually, my favorite is Def Leppard's "Bringin' on the Heartbreak" and it goes seamlessly into "Switch 625" so they balance the soppiness.

‘Don’t Want to Miss A Thing’ by Aerosmith is probably one of my most hated songs.

I remember going to watch the film and thinking WTAF is this song? It’s terrible! I have to turn the radio over if it comes on.

I love them all, even the ones I think I hate. The older power ballads bring back memories of long car journeys with my pre-teen children back at the turn of the millennium when my first marriage broke down.
