I know someone that likely has a American pit bull puppy, she's still growing and huge! Thing is, my friend has a little 4 year old that is small for his age and he pinches and hits the dog, especially when his mum isn't looking.
She does tell him to stop, but half heartedly and he finds it funny mostly and runs away. The dog is restrained, and told to stop, but it's not fair on the dog! You can't blame a dog acting out in these circumstances.
I'm not saying the same thing happened to the little girl in this case in the news, but it is worrying.

Lots are killed by cars yes, which is why over the years much work has been done to try to reduce deaths e.g. making the use of seatbelts a legal requirement, speed restrictions being enfirced, more roads being 20mph etc. In the same way something needs to be done to try to stop more innocent children from being mauled to death by ugly dangerous dogs.
