Guardian and Telegraph have an embargoed story - front page embargoed till 1.30 am. I wonder what it is?

What happens if someone breaks an embargo?

Not much - the PR person usually gets very upset with you but that's about it. Assuming it is Royal Family or similar, you wouldn't be top of the list for embargoed stories any time soon after breaking it early, but otherwise it's just a bollocking.

Well, any story in any news outlet (print or digital) will have been looked at by the legal department but even more so on a big ‘breaking news’ story that’s potentially going to set the agenda for the day / dominate the news cycle. No journo wants an eggy face!
