Tories are corrupt. Who knew!!! Well, all of us. Need to get rid of them all. For good.

Can't stand starmer, he's a Blair mark 2. I wish we could have Corbyn.

Iam4eels · 30/01/2023 15:50

To be fair to Tony Blair, his government helped lift over 600,000 children out of poverty (that the Tories have promptly shoved back in), set up the Sure Start programmes to improve outcomes, introduced minimum wage, increased employment, increased the number of doctors and nurses in the NHS, increased the numbers of police, reduced crime, reduced youth unemployment, reduced teen pregnancy, increased education funding, increased rhe number of teachers and support staff, reduced class sizes, lifted thousands of oensioners out of poverty via pension credit and winter fuel payments, actually had budget surplus in 2000, and oversaw a decade of consistent economic growth.

If happily settle for a re-hash of the Blair/Brown era right now.

TooBigForMyBoots · 30/01/2023 15:52

The Blair government also brokered the GFA, changing all our lives for the better in NI.

Iam4eels · 30/01/2023 16:02

Yes! I knew I'd forgotten something off my list.

LexMitior · 30/01/2023 16:09

The test of any government is what they deliver. Did they? Do you feel richer, that public services are well run, that the economy is growing?

When you put it like that - it's exactly what the country needs right now,

LexMitior · 30/01/2023 16:36

What is really damning is that the Tories are going down in the polls and Labour are increasing their lead.

That is bad news for Sunak - but give him a crumb. He can't do anything because these people have all done these things on his predecessors watch.

I wonder what Sunak may have done. Birds of a feather flock together.

BashirWithTheGoodBeard · 30/01/2023 17:09

Sunak would always have been fucked at GE time regardless, because he's far, far too rich to be a remotely electable candidate in these economic circumstances.

LexMitior · 30/01/2023 17:22

I agree.

I wonder when the Tory Party sink into the murk, as they must at the next election, any of them will reflect on whether it was wise to elect Johnson.

He has essentially ruined them, and all their little fig leaves which politicians must have in order to rule. I'm sure some saw it, but it was like electing a toddler to govern the most successful political party of all time. Sunak is just the guy holding the parcel when the music stops.

I said this earlier in the thread and I will say it again, at least Sunak knows what a woman is. It is important to remember that if we had not of elected Boris we would have had Jeremy Corbyn who is a very naughty boy and not the saviour.

JamSandle · 30/01/2023 17:38

Positive news!

I think he booted out most of the ones who'd have had the gumption to manage that.

LexMitior · 30/01/2023 17:56

Johnson is such a bastard. He's lied and shagged they Tory Party like he does do everyone else. Like everyone else they believed they were special.

It is black comedy really - except we are all living with the results.

Should have gone for Govey, Govey Govey.
Next time perhaps they will see sense.

Blossomtoes · 30/01/2023 18:00

I’ve just watched The Riot Club, it’s based on the Bullingdon Club. I recommend it to anyone who’s remotely tempted to vote Tory. It makes it very clear what the Eton and Oxford enclave thinks of us.

LexMitior · 30/01/2023 18:05

He was just the worlds shittest operator. Good in Westminster and with a few political geeks. Hard hats and photo ops for the proles.

Like deciding the class clown be PM. Tories are often selfish but stupid is new.

Happygirl79 · 30/01/2023 18:10

I was disgusted to read Sunak thanking Zuhawi for his service in his termination letter. You really couldn't make it up. They are all corrupt, but in their world, the shameful thing is getting caught out

I was disgusted to read that Sunak was Prime Minister.

Happygirl79 · 30/01/2023 18:23

Ha me too. He was not elected by the people of our country.

Not elected by is one of the reasons the Tory party have lasted as long as they have.
Vote David Cameron? Get Theresa May.
Vote Theresa May? Get Boris Johnson.🤯
Vote Boris Johnson?

Get Liz Truss.
Then Rishi Sunak.

Conservative party members have been fucked over too. They rejected Jeremy Hunt. They rejected Rishi Sunak. Now one is the Prime Minister and the other is the Chancellor of the Exchequer.🤔

They're not big on democracy, or decency or responsibility or competence the Tories.🤦‍♀️
