What's your favourite dessert?

Or whatever you call the sweet thing you have after your evening meal.

I've just decided that mine is creme brulee. I absolutely love it more than anything else.
Close second would be homemade trifle (pref. no jelly), or a really good tiramisu. I am also partial to Eton mess and chocolate mousse. But creme brulee wins every time.

What's yours?

Proper Tiramisu ( i.e made without cream) I live in Italy so lucky enough to eat a decent one in most homes and restaurants I visit! Tons of places here make it without booze, me included and it's so much nicer.

Extra bitter chocolate mousse with a little blob of whipped cream on the top

Chocolate Fondant, mustn't be too sweet though

Tarte Tatin

Homemade Bakewell but no icing

Apple Crumble

Nigella's Anglo Italian Trifle.

Lemon Tarte

Coffee & Walnut Cake

Has anyone got a suggestion for a pudding? It's my birthday soon and I'm going to have a house full of folk. 9 for dinner so I thought I'd do Seville orange meringue pie and... a second option for pudding.

Maybe nuts? Or chocolate? Or chocolatey nuts? Or...?

Reckon probably pot roast lamb and pommes dauphinois for main.

Apple crumble and custard

Damn this thread for making me hungry

LuluBlakey1 · 31/01/2023 00:53

Not: sorbets or anything nut-heavy. I love apple crumble (lots of crumble), my home-made Eton Mess, Tarte Tatin, old-fashioned English puddings like Bakewell Tart, Jam RolyPoly, fruit cobblers, lemon meringue pie, trifles, fruit cakes, anything from a good patisserie, Tiramisu, fruit pies, mousses, milk puddings-rice, sago, tapioca made with cream, all accompanied by cream, custard or ice cream.
Haven't had a pudding or piece of cake since Christmas.

I think it'll have to be the opposite of your meringue pie - chocolate, either a flourless chocolate cake, or classic enormous fudge one.

Blueberrycreampie · 31/01/2023 14:25

Delia Smith's Chocolate Truffle Torte. You don't need loads of ingredients and it's yummy!

Blueberrycreampie · 31/01/2023 14:28

Sorry that was to @Tintackedsea.

JooftheNorth · 31/01/2023 14:42

@MyMachineAndMe yes! Just yes!
I now cannot get the thought of the dessert in question, presented on a plate on a revolving platform with spotlights shining on it, complete with a choir of angelic voices singing or any Barry White song out of my head. Tries to focus on work, nope, I can only think of chocolate fudge cake.

ShakeYourFeathers · 31/01/2023 17:01

My mums pavlova

IHeartGeneHunt · 31/01/2023 17:33

I love them all. However there's nothing like a home made trifle with orange jelly, tinned mandarins, sponge, custard, cream and glace cherries.

sandranista · 31/01/2023 18:19

Home made chocolate sponge. The filling has to be chocolate buttercream made with icing sugar, butter and cocoa powder, so it's properly buttery

sandranista · 31/01/2023 18:22

@ladymalfoy45 you can still buy the Sara Lee chocolate gateaux thing!

Pearlsister · 31/01/2023 18:25

I love all puddings, but mourn the demise of Little Chef's cherry pancakes and ice cream. I bloody loved those.

ArtVandalay · 31/01/2023 18:32

I don’t like puddings 🤷‍♀️ I just don’t have a sweet tooth. Even reading all of these posts had made me somewhat queasy 😂

If I had to, it’d be a cheesecake. But no cream poured over. I really hate cream. <gets coat>

grapehyacinthisactuallyblue · 31/01/2023 18:33

White chocolate roulade, or baked cheese cake, both home made. There are many lovely desserts, but nothing seems to be better than them.

soboredtonight · 31/01/2023 18:34

Creme brûlée, panda cotta or a Bavarian slice from greggs. I know there is a name for the filling is it Mille something?

onlyhereforthefood · 31/01/2023 18:42

Bread and butter pudding with custard

Or Rhubarb crumble and custard

Or Sticky toffee pudding

If it doesn't stick to your ribs, it isn't pudding

itsme432 · 31/01/2023 18:47

Cheesecake or bonoffee pie.

If hot- apple crumble

Favouritefruits · 31/01/2023 18:49

honemade chocolate mousse or shop bought chocolate torte
