What's your favourite dessert?

Or whatever you call the sweet thing you have after your evening meal.

I've just decided that mine is creme brulee. I absolutely love it more than anything else.
Close second would be homemade trifle (pref. no jelly), or a really good tiramisu. I am also partial to Eton mess and chocolate mousse. But creme brulee wins every time.

What's yours?

A really good tiramisu (rare)
chocolate lava cake

HelebethH · 28/01/2023 18:37

Gooseberry crumble and custard or anything with alcohol such as Cranachan. I love ice cream as well with Cornish clotted cream flavour with Bailey's or Advocat over it or Rum and Raisen being my favourites. Mind you I was served a Gin and Blood Orange ice cream recently. I was fab. Unfortunately, the host is not of a mind to share the recipe ☹️

My favourite pudding is probably rhubarb crumble with cream or thin custard.

Tiramisu

I'm not generally a pudding person but will have this every time if it is on the menu

GlitteryFarts · 28/01/2023 18:40

Red Velvet or a lemon tart with whipped cream

KangarooKenny · 28/01/2023 18:41

The best Black Forest gateaux I’ve found, like it used to be when I was a kid, is from the Morrisons fresh cream cake section 😋

ProperVexed · 28/01/2023 18:43

My granny ( God rest her soul), and now my bestest, favourite aunty, make a hot raspberry sponge. Served with cream it is delightful and my absolute favourite.

ChicagoBears · 28/01/2023 18:44

Too many to choose from but top 3:
Homemade trifle
Christmas pudding
Blackberry crumble

inigomontoyahwillcox · 28/01/2023 18:44

My mum's lemon meringue pie.

beachcomber70 · 28/01/2023 18:45

All of the above. Creme brulee is up at the top.

I once had a gooseberry crumble in a pub after a lovely roast dinner. A gooseberry crumble. There was literally one gooseberry in there! I've often laughed about it.

wineandsunshine · 28/01/2023 18:45

Oh god! ALL of the deserts!

Banoffee pie maybe....
Lemon meringue pie....
Sticky toffee pudding....

I want them all!!!

Inextremis · 28/01/2023 18:46

It has to be creme brulee - it's the best thing ever and I totally agree with you, OP :)

Sara Lee's Double Chocolate Gateau from 35 years ago.
M&S Chocolate Ganache Yule log from 40 years ago.
I'm 50 this year and I really miss 'original' tasting food.

Summer Pudding
Queen of Puddings
Lemon Meringue Pie

I love everything mentioned here, but I rarely want cake after a meal (I'm not in the UK and we'd have coffee and cake in the afternoon). I'd also only want crumble or anything with fruit in it earlier in the day, so maybe after a Sunday lunch. I'm only just realising that I have very complicated internal "rules" about desserts :D

FindingMeno · 28/01/2023 18:49

Raspberry sorbet.

TeddyTed · 28/01/2023 18:51

I went out for a lovely pub lunch today at a place I’ve been to before, and I was so disappointed they’ve taken the chocolate orange brownie and vanilla ice cream off the menu. Honestly, it marred the day, it’s my absolute favourite! 😂🍫🍊

MargaritaRita · 28/01/2023 18:54

Everything - except desserts that have good things in them like fruit. Desserts are for indulgence not healthy eating.

  1. Bread and butter pudding without the raisins etc. but choc chips instead, cream, and made with croissants.
  2. Baileys cheesecake without gelatine/jelly
  3. Banoffee pie
  4. Tiramisu
  5. Profiteroles

I'll be here all night. But you get the the idea. The more indulgent and sinful the better. Double helpings too please.

MissyB1 · 28/01/2023 18:55

Right where shall I start? 😁😋

Lemon meringue pie
Rhubarb pie
Rum baba
Ginger Sponge pudding with custard

Coffee and cake in the afternoon? Kaffee und Kuchen by any chance?

mathanxiety · 28/01/2023 18:58

Apple crumble. Needs a very thick crumble topping.

I also love peach cobbler.

Craftybodger · 28/01/2023 19:00

I can’t choose!
My Mum’s Mille Feuille, Gateaux Dianne, chocolate mousse or St Clemente’s
cheesecake (this will totally out me to my friends!!)

Blueberrycreampie · 28/01/2023 19:00

Very similar to Creme Brûlée but Crema Catalan is wonderful, or rich chocolate mousse - maybe with a hint of Grand Marnier.

Squiblet · 28/01/2023 19:01

The Christmas eve pudding plate, which is a big plate scattered with mince pies, Xmas biscuits, crystallised ginger, quality street, squares of Christmas cake, marzipan fruits ... anything festive we've got in. We put it down in front of the telly and everyone chooses nibbles as they like through the evening.

thesnailandthewhale · 28/01/2023 19:02

Pavlova with raspberries
