After 7 years of trying I have just found out I am pregnant

I decided to do a test today and thought I was probably being stupid and getting my hopes up but there it was after over 7 years of ttc it was positive.
I have of course done another 2 tests just to be sure 😂

Eek I just needed to tell someone. Husband is on a late shift and not home for at least another hour!

Thanks for the further messages of congratulations and those sharing their stories of long TTC journeys. It's nice to know it wasn't just us.

My boobs have started hurting more now and I am quite tired so I guess all those tests were definitely not wrong! My parents have been on holiday so looking forward to telling them when they are back over the weekend 💕

A little update. I am now 7 weeks going by date of last period. Sickness has started but so far it's reasonably manageable.

Last night my husband sent me a little video he saw online of a man bringing home their newborn and it had a lovely song playing in the background and I fully cried because it's finally our turn. Everytime I think about the video it makes me well up. That part is definitely hormones!

That is lovely to hear OP.
I’m so happy for you!

To be honest for a second I thought it was a sad update. 😢

Out of curiosity is there ANYTHING you’ve done differently in the past 6 months? Maybe change in diet/exercise/supplements/weight (significant not 2lb here or there lol)
I heard of YouTubers that struggled for like 10yrs, did Keto (for unrelated reasons) and a few months later we’re finally pregnant and have their bundle of joy now! 😍
dreaming of joining you soon too 🥹

The only thing different was I started myo inositol part way through my previous cycle and then from the start of the one I conceived. I do have PCOS though so don't know of the benefits if you don't have PCOS

Hope that it happens for you soon, it's so tough.

Clotho55 · 10/02/2023 16:57

Lovely to hear your update; fingers are still crossed for you! I don’t know if you have been advised that ginger can help relieve morning sickness; if I remember correctly, I ate ginger thin biscuits to prevent MS, but it all stopped by the end of the first trimester when I was pregnant with my 2 sons. With my daughter (last pregnancy), I had morning sickness intermittently right up until the day before she was born. That was my only clue that she might not be a boy………..

Aaah!
funny you mention that… I DO have PCOS! 🤣🙈
I am taking Myo Inositol ahem.. a bit on and off (took it for 1-2mo religiously, then took a break restarting now) but I’ve seen little difference cycle wise..
changed my exercise from HIIT to walking long distances slowly (3-5km speed on treadmill) and slow weights as apparently it helps reduce cortisol spikes.

can I ask what brand of Myo Inositol do you take?

also, in case you don’t know, I’ve heard it recommended to continue to take Myo inositol for at least your whole first trimester and take higher dose folic acid (a bit like diabetics) as PCOS strips us of nutrients (in fact, you might want to do a blood test and see how you are. I take 5,000 rather than to 400 (GP prescribed) - do some research as GPS and even midwife’s don’t often know this.

just to clarify I take 5,000 because I am T1 diabetic and have PCOS and looking to conceive.
it is prescribed by the GP.
but I also have folate deficiency and vit D3 deficiency if I don’t take it despite my diet being very high in natural vit D and folate. Apparently it’s common with PCOS and if you have thyroid issues.

SnowSnow · 10/02/2023 17:14

Thank you for the advice on the ginger biscuits. Will definitely try that.

@321user123 It was Free Soul brand. I didn't notice a difference in cycle length but guess it must have helped somehow. To be honest I took less than 1 packet worth before I found out I was pregnant. Also thanks for mentioning the folic acid. I have the higher dose prescribed by the GP but the only reason I knew I needed it was because of reading a post on here previously so pleased you have mentioned it in case anyone else reads and remembers when the time comes 😀

This will never stop now my daughter is 4 and a half and I still cry when I think how much we went through to get her.
Also when k was pregnant I cried because someone complimented my roast potatoes 🤣

T1Dmama · 11/02/2023 02:50

Have you told either grandparents yet?

I had an app on my phone that told you the stages your baby will be at now, used to love seeing that she was now the size of a grape, plum etc

Says who?
Often women with PCOS specifically or insulin resistance have issues with ovulation and normal hormone regulation, Keto (and other diets too) help give a kick start to the body.
for many people a diet like Keto can also mean choosing fresher and more nutrient dense food compared to usual which again helps.
Lastly, almost everyone loses some weight on Keto some more some less and again we know that even a small weight loss can kick start ovulation (if that is the problem).
That diet like many others too have beneficial effects on people and can help to kickstart processes in the body which have been dormant maybe due to inflammation, or hormone imbalance or insulin resistance or nutrient starvation (through deficiencies or poor food choice or both), etc.

Just to clarify I’m not saying that Keto is the answer to everything or that if you’re unable to get pregnant Keto will give you a pregnancy.

but saying that Keto or other diets make no difference in conceiving is utter nonsense and lack of knowledge.
