I decided to do a test today and thought I was probably being stupid and getting my hopes up but there it was after over 7 years of ttc it was positive.
I have of course done another 2 tests just to be sure 😂

Eek I just needed to tell someone. Husband is on a late shift and not home for at least another hour!

WTAF type of question is this???

I don't know exactly what WTAF means. I think the photo of him shows a most beautiful baby. He looks lovely. He is good-looking. I am always pleased when babies arrive safely. I was simply making a gentle joke to ask if he is still as beautiful as he was a couple of days ago. Babies change all the time. I will go away. I will not come back.

What The Actual Fuck is what it means and asking a mother if her child is still good looking isn't a joke, it's bloody insulting. Unless English isn't your first language, you'd know that, if it isn't your first language, maybe look up what constitutes a joke in the UK because that wasn't one

Thank you so much everyone for all the lovely messages of congratulations. I have read them all and will probably read back though again later on.

This week has been such a whirlwind. He was born late Monday evening so isn’t even 4 whole days old yet but it feels like he has been here far longer than that.

The hormones are quite something at the moment and yesterday I found myself crying about the fact on night 2 he was crying trying to feed and feeling guilty that I didnt know how to latch him better etc until the next day. At this point that had been and gone and he was feeding much better after some advice from the feeding team on the ward. Totally illogical but wow!

My milk seems to have come in overnight. We are going to have a bit of a duvet day today and try and nap lots between feeds.

Yes, the hormones are wild. Hold on tight, they will settle down.

Well done on the feeding, that's brilliant. Establishing feeding is the hard bit, it does get far easier, I promise!

Naps and duvet days and skin to skin are an absolutely perfect idea.

10 days old now and the last few days have been alllll about cluster feeding. He was weighed today and hasnt put back on much of his initial weight loss so we are back to the midwife in a couple of days.

Just going with it on the cluster feeding and hoping it does the job. My husband has decided to feed me up too!

I weighed myself this morning and I am 8kg down from my weight the week I found out I was pregnant. The only bonus of how pukey I was all pregnancy 😂

Yes, cluster feeding can be bloody exhausting! Sounds like you are doing the right thing resting up and letting your DH look after you.

Hey! How’s it all going? I found breastfeeding personally the hardest thing I’ve ever done it shocked me how tough it was i think back then I was very naive to how much it’s like a full time job in itself let alone caring for the baby with bum changes baths etc etc, how are you feeling now with likely being more settled into parenting? It’s a crazy ride these first few months isn’t it x

SnowSnow · 24/10/2023 03:39

Thanks @Aly1977 for checking in. Yep I’m finding breastfeeding one of the hardest things. Zachary loves to cluster feed for hours!
He took a while to get back up to birth weight and had to have some top ups but we finally made it there.
He is currently feeding and I’m eating some chocolate digestives to pass the time!

They say enjoy these times and the cluster feeding but man I found it hard! My LO fed for hours! And hours! And then some more. She is now 15 and I look at her and think of those days and nights where it was just me and her cuddling and feeding and it makes me wistful! Hope you're doing ok. Xxx

Marcasite · 24/10/2023 22:44

You have done very well to bring Zachary back to his birth weight; just remember that whilst you are cluster feeding him, you are resting and healing.

My continued good wishes 💐

Lovely update and good idea to rest and snack, the early days are exhausting.
