Tea, which one makes a decent cup of tea easily.

Ok, we drink a good bit of tea, but lately, I can’t find one that we really like.
We used to have Ringtons Tea, possibly a Northern brand, bored with that, we’ve had various Twinnings, they are OK.
I just want a black tea really, not green or herbal

We get a good healthy tea, with good bacteria in it, but you can only buy it online now, that’s Daily Cultures, that’s good but not cheap, and not intended to be drunk all day.

I did buy Assam tea from some supermarket which was delicious sometimes, but it seems that was when combined with semi skimmed milk from our local garage, which possibly was quite sweet.

Sadly I can’t seem to replicate that any more.

Anyone got any suggestions

I always buy Tetley. Maybe I should try Yorkshire's for comparison!

cheapskatemum · 22/01/2023 22:21

I like Sainsbury's loose leaf teas. I blend their Assam & Kenyan. I large tea spoon of each in a pot, brewed for 4 minutes, makes 2 decent mugs of tea. Yes, I use semi skimmed milk.

Yorkshire as an everyday day one. Our local deli does Dammann teas and their English Breakfast is lovely.

Dorset Tea. X

Pluckley tea (from Kent).

slowquickstep · 22/01/2023 22:33

Both Thompson's and Lidl make a great brew. Best tea ever was NAAFI red label made by Ringtons but they no longer make it.

BamBamBilla · 22/01/2023 22:37

Golden tippy first flush Assam. Filtered water, 3 minute brew.

Batcountry8 · 22/01/2023 22:41

Thompsons

Bright red packet, used to be called Punjana.

Fresh bright tea, not bitter even if u leave it ages.
I tell people in Morrisons who are staring at the teabags to try it.

Shampern · 22/01/2023 22:44

Yorkshire Gold with skimmed milk.

DumpedByText · 22/01/2023 22:49

M&S gold blend is great, I've got Yorkshire tea at the moment and that's nice too.

dicdicnurse · 22/01/2023 22:52

Glengettie or Twinings

soddingspiderseason · 22/01/2023 22:54

Yorkshire gold. Best tea ever. Once you've gone there you never go back.

Perennis · 22/01/2023 22:55

Yorkshire Gold. No competition!

dotdotdotdash · 22/01/2023 22:55

I drink Clipper but agree it's inconsistent. I'd happily pay more for a better brew as I love tea! I'll try the Thompsons and M&S Gold!

yodaforpresident · 22/01/2023 22:56

Barry’s is the best by far.

I think I went off Yorkshire ( it was a long time ago ) when it started to look like black dust in the tea bag. I think our latest tea looks like that too now, no colour or scent either

@FlippingColdToday try Yorkshire Gold. It had a fuller less harsh taste that regular Yorkshire tea (which is still good).

caringcarer · 22/01/2023 22:58

I like Morrisons decaf.

MonsoonMadness · 22/01/2023 22:58

I’ve recently discovered Dragonfly Earl Grey with Roibos . Or just their Earl Grey. It’s so much nicer than anything else. Used Clipper for years, but as someone said their quality is really inconsistent.

Undertheoldlindentree · 22/01/2023 23:00

I second the Thompsons Tea in red foil packets from Morrisons. Often on offer for £2 but tastes much more expensive.

78Summer · 22/01/2023 23:01

I love the M&S in a gold box.

ReamsOfCheese · 22/01/2023 23:02

I'm stunned no one has mentioned PG Tips. It's the nicest tea that comes in a bag. Tetley is decent as is Tesco Red Label. I find Yorkshire Tea a bit limp and flavourless, even when I was drinking it in Yorkshire (we always had it in the staff break room). If you're after loose leaf tea, Twinings English Breakfast is decent.

MrJollyLivesNextDoor · 22/01/2023 23:03

Glengettie

TheFormidableMrsC · 22/01/2023 23:04

I love Aldi's Gold Label tea. I was married to a Yorkshireman and never understood the Yorkshire tea thing, I thought it was a bit insipid 🤷🏻‍♀️

Galarunner · 22/01/2023 23:05

I think the milk makes a difference, Yorkshire tea, preferably gold with blue milk , preferably Our Cow Molly ( superior South Yorkshire milk! ) Also try boiling the water to 90 rather than a 100. Water definitely makes a difference, Yorkshire tea tastes difference elsewhere and there maybe other blends more suited to your water.

LeopardPrintAllDayEveryday · 22/01/2023 23:05

Yorkshire or Yorkshire Gold
