Tea, which one makes a decent cup of tea easily.

Ok, we drink a good bit of tea, but lately, I can’t find one that we really like.
We used to have Ringtons Tea, possibly a Northern brand, bored with that, we’ve had various Twinnings, they are OK.
I just want a black tea really, not green or herbal

We get a good healthy tea, with good bacteria in it, but you can only buy it online now, that’s Daily Cultures, that’s good but not cheap, and not intended to be drunk all day.

I did buy Assam tea from some supermarket which was delicious sometimes, but it seems that was when combined with semi skimmed milk from our local garage, which possibly was quite sweet.

Sadly I can’t seem to replicate that any more.

Anyone got any suggestions

I really don’t like Yorkshire.

Birchall’s
Clipper
Cheapy Co-Op own brand seems to make a really strong brew in approx 3.2 seconds, does me fine!

I really think it depends on the water. Yorkshire tea tastes differently out of area!

dragonbreaths · 22/01/2023 21:52

Thomson's Punjana. Really tasty without being too tanniny (is that a word?)

Yorkshire Tea Gold. Best cuppa ever!

Another one for M&S gold

inappropriateraspberry · 22/01/2023 21:55

We like Lidl's gold teabags. We notice a difference if we have different.

Yorkshire tea.

Our water is ok, it’s not hard, and we haven’t had Yorkshire tea for a while, thanks for the suggestions.

The absolute nicest tea, I had, was at a very grand afternoon tea at Coughlans near Barnard Castle, it was loose tea, and I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything like it in a supermarket.
It was possibly a combination of good water and delicious cakes which helped too, that day.

So I think I’ll try Yorkshire again.
I think I’ve tried Clipper once, if they are non bleached tea bags, but I didn’t buy them again.

To be honest, as long as it’s not £10 a box, I would pay a little more to get some decent tea, and I think I might have a try at combining Assam and was it Darjeeling? That someone earlier suggested, not by doing anything fancy, maybe adding both tea ( bags) to a cup to try 😂

Smugglers Brew, Cornish tea, I've never tasted better tea!!

RoseMartha · 22/01/2023 22:01

Another Yorkshire tea vote from me

FlippingColdToday · 22/01/2023 22:01

Oh I’ve never even heard of that

Yorkshire Gold or M&S Gold.

FlippingColdToday · 22/01/2023 22:03

We did used to have Yorkshire tea before the Ringtons, then went to Yorkshire Gold and interchanged with Twinnings everyday, and then the Breakfast

Clearly I spend too much time thinking about it.

I’m assuming everyone is using semi skimmed milk in their tea , like me.

I think I’ve tried the M&S one too.

I don't understand the fuss about Yorkshire Tea. Clipper Organic can be lovely but the quality is inconsistent. Thompsons Tea is lovely.

FlippingColdToday · 22/01/2023 22:07

I’m going to make a note of all the different ones you’ve suggested.
Sadly I don’t like either PG Tips or Tetley, my Mother has them, and I can never make a nice cup at her house either.
Thanks for the suggestions.

M&S Gold, or Waitrose English Breakfast.

In a tea shop I always go for English Breakfast.

FlippingColdToday · 22/01/2023 22:08

I think I went off Yorkshire ( it was a long time ago ) when it started to look like black dust in the tea bag. I think our latest tea looks like that too now, no colour or scent either

Notplayingball · 22/01/2023 22:17

I usually buy Lidl's own brand of tea bag. Or Aldi. Both seem okay. Haven't given it much thought tbh.
