Tea, which one makes a decent cup of tea easily.

Ok, we drink a good bit of tea, but lately, I can’t find one that we really like.
We used to have Ringtons Tea, possibly a Northern brand, bored with that, we’ve had various Twinnings, they are OK.
I just want a black tea really, not green or herbal

We get a good healthy tea, with good bacteria in it, but you can only buy it online now, that’s Daily Cultures, that’s good but not cheap, and not intended to be drunk all day.

I did buy Assam tea from some supermarket which was delicious sometimes, but it seems that was when combined with semi skimmed milk from our local garage, which possibly was quite sweet.

Sadly I can’t seem to replicate that any more.

Anyone got any suggestions

Yorkshire tea? Once you go Yorkshire, you never go back

FawnFrenchieMum · 22/01/2023 21:28

Can’t beat Yorkshire tea IMO

Lyon’s gold blend. A classic

I really like Lidl's Breakfast tea.

Noodlehen · 22/01/2023 21:30

Barry’s tea. You’ll get it in the Irish section on the world food aisles in supermarkets.

KangarooKenny · 22/01/2023 21:30

Yorkshire

WatchingGreysAgain · 22/01/2023 21:30

You need Dorset tea

SnackyOnassis · 22/01/2023 21:30

Yorkshire Gold is a good strong brew. Also the M&S gold label - tastes like what I remember tea tasting like (but never does!!)

Clipper tea bags are fab!

ToBeOrNotToBee · 22/01/2023 21:31

Yorkshire or Barry's Tea

AdventFridgeOfShame · 22/01/2023 21:32

Blend your own Assam and Darjeeling roughly 50/50

Add a bit of Russian Caravan for a really yummy blend.

Clipper tea - the red box

Ah that marketing penetrates the mind deeply. I left Yorkshire Tea an age ago now.

We're on Waitrose own brand - it's cheap and does the job for us.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 22/01/2023 21:35

Yorkshire

M&S gold. I buy the huge boxes for £10. I love tea so much, but really can't be bothered faffing with loose leaf, so I'm happy to pay a little bit more to get a tasty brew from a bag. It's a perfect colour as well, no greyness to it at all.

Yorkshire Gold is the best

KnottyKnitting · 22/01/2023 21:38

Yorkshire tea- nothing else comes close!

M&S Gold or Waitrose Gold - both make a delicious cup of tea

MariahsBaubles · 22/01/2023 21:41

Twinings everday tea.
People always compliment it.
I make a busting cup of tea to be fair

DorisParchment · 22/01/2023 21:43

Birchall’s tea. Tastes like tea used to. We buy loose leaf but the tea bags are good too.

You need a good, strong East African blend for a proper cup of tea.

Honeyroar · 22/01/2023 21:44

I own a coffee shop. I’ve never had as many compliments about a cup of tea as when it’s Yorkshire tea. Plus it blends quickly, so doesn’t take long to make a strong brew if someone likes it that way (I do take away cups, not pots).

CatchHimDerry · 22/01/2023 21:46

My faves are Assam, which you’ve already mentioned, and Glengettie Welsh tea

I do feel the water itself can make a big difference as well though, hard vs soft water areas etc.
