Are you planning for Easter already?

All of my old time friends have got it all sorted pretty much. One is hosting this year and the previous year another friend did it

They've hired Peter Rabbit to come and greet the children, and got their personalised Easter bags at the ready. Also personalised Easter Box with DC name on them

I got a text this morning to say Little Lords and Ladies have released their Easter 2023 pjs and to order now or they'll all get taken (they only do so many and then stop)

Then it'll be a roast for the adults with picky bits for the children.

One of my friends kindly bought me one last year as I'd run out of time Blush so my DS has one but I'll need one for DD now

Do most people plan this far ahead? I'm just trying to work it out as I'm a hypocrite really. I've been known to buy Christmas bits in January!

@LadyOfTheCanyon yes I agree about the pyjamas - we are heading full on into climate change disaster, and people want to buy pyjamas just for one day? It’s insanity!

Why would you give anyone 15 eggs...? Confused

It’s excessive I know and I readily admit - but in my old life I had no money to be able to do it and so now I have no money because I do do it 😂 - it’s just nice and in honesty he took them back to his uni accom and shared them with his housemates.
He never got Easter eggs off anyone else and his shithead Dad would eat any I got him if he wasn’t quick enough - so it’s literally just because I can !!

can’t really justify the rabbit teapot tho except for the fact it’s got a knitted jumper on !!!

Lovetotravel123 · 22/01/2023 14:39

This is crazy. It sounds like these people have too much time on their hands. Time that could be put to much better use.

What a shite costume - blue jacket does not make it Peter. Anyway the only ‘planning’ that needs to be done is to ging to the supermarket and buy an egg - job done - FFS.

Frumpymumma · 22/01/2023 15:01

I plan as in plan days out for the holidays with kids

Buy a few eggs

And some like cream eggs, little foil ones etc to put in the plastic eggs (that ive had for years since eldest) and write fun clues for the kids.

gawditswindy · 22/01/2023 15:39

I don't even know when Easter is atm. I didn't realise it was something one 'planned' for. Grin I'll grab some eggs and do a hunt in the garden and have a marginally nicer dinner than the usual Sunday but that's it.

Scarlettpixie · 22/01/2023 15:48

Planning?

At some point easter will start flashing up when I do my weekly online shop.

I will add chocolate and hot cross buns to my weekly shop.

i will look forward to the long weekend.

Easter PJs? F-ing hell!

RosaMoline · 22/01/2023 16:04

LadyOfTheCanyon · 22/01/2023 14:22

God, I judge. I judge hard.

I love Easter. I'm Pagan so for me Ēostre is about welcoming the spring in all its forms, putting the long nights and hardship behind us for a few months. And yeah, chocolate.

The rush to monetise every fucking thing with plasticky tacky bollocks is so saddening and I wish people would grow a pair of balls and just Stop Doing It. But people buckle under the pressure put on them by Social Media.

When I was a child ( yes, I know, cue Hovis commercial music...) we used to go to the Bakers first thing on Good Friday and queue up for Hot Cross Buns straight from the oven.
I'd get an egg on Easter Sunday and we'd go to church. And that's be yer lot.

Children need less pandering to, not more. The idea that every bank holiday, or notable date needs a new pair of pyjamas makes me fucking livid. My God there are people in the world without access to clean drinking water and here we are spaffing money up the walls on grown adults in rabbit costumes.

This. 100%. Thank you 👏👏👏

Vitriolinsanity · 22/01/2023 16:51

DS doesn't like chocolate or sweets (really!) so the Amazon Bunny brings him Lego at Easter 🤣

NatMoz · 22/01/2023 16:58

What have i just read???

We've booked a long weekend in Harrogate to take advantage of the bank holiday weekend. We'll visit Brimham Rocks, do the Parkrun at Fountains Abbey followed by a walk, visit Harrogate itself and go to Knarsborough.

Baby (currently 13 months will not get an Easter egg) husband who's birthday it is will get presents.

MrsJBaptiste · 22/01/2023 17:24

As another poster said, some people have too much time on their hands.

Planning for Christmas / Easter / Halloween / Bonfire Night and anything else I've forgotten.

If I get to the end of the week having sorted the kids out, been productive at work, caught up with my parents and had wine then I give myself a pat on the back ✔️

Inextremis · 22/01/2023 17:27

I don't have kids, but I've just put a fucktonne of mini eggs on the Tesco click 'n collect for this week - last year they'd run out before I got at them!

GlassBunion · 22/01/2023 17:28

Utter madness!

Feckin' Easter Boxes???

RampantIvy · 22/01/2023 17:32

This thread reminded me to book a hotel, so I have.

Thank you

Allmyarseandpeggymartin · 22/01/2023 17:32

Love Easter because it’s so much more chilled than Christmas. People ordering pjs and buying Easter boxes are ruining the simplicity of it

00100001 · 22/01/2023 17:39

Parker231 · 22/01/2023 10:42

The problem with buying early is the temptation to have one now!

Why do you think shops crack out the Easter stuff just after boxing Day?

Same reason selection boxes and roses tins etc are out in September !

StopGrowingPlease · 22/01/2023 17:43

I have no money so no 🤣 Ds will be 19 months old so I'll probably get him a few little bits and find somewhere to go for a little day out 🤔

@frozendaisy Summer Holiday box is already a thing I'm afraid Blush (not with me!)

Surely not

Yes exactly.

Don't we all have enough too without adding a load of completely unnecessary 'Easter planning' to our already far-too-long to do lists?

GeoffGiraffe · 22/01/2023 19:00

piedbeauty · 22/01/2023 11:20

Christ on a bike, no. But then all we do for Easter is have an egg hunt then paint and roll boiled eggs and have lunch.

Going OTT for Easter sounds bonkers.

Tbf, I bet he'd have preferred to be on a bike.

GeoffGiraffe · 22/01/2023 19:08

I'll start thinking about it soon, beginning of Lent probably. I'll get DS new PJ's (which he wears till he outgrows them) and a new outfit for Easter Sunday. He usually gets a couple of presents, money off GPs and some chocolate eggs. Same as I did when I was small.

We'll host my parents hopefully so it will be a buffet because I hate cooking a roast but will probably order meat from the butcher. I decorate for Easter.

We have an Easter tree and some bunny/carrot decorations. The cross is on the wall in the front room year round and I'll be spending a lot of holy week actually at church.

Yes I will too First for me but for me that’s part of Easter now all the services leading up to it.
