Are you planning for Easter already?

All of my old time friends have got it all sorted pretty much. One is hosting this year and the previous year another friend did it

They've hired Peter Rabbit to come and greet the children, and got their personalised Easter bags at the ready. Also personalised Easter Box with DC name on them

I got a text this morning to say Little Lords and Ladies have released their Easter 2023 pjs and to order now or they'll all get taken (they only do so many and then stop)

Then it'll be a roast for the adults with picky bits for the children.

One of my friends kindly bought me one last year as I'd run out of time Blush so my DS has one but I'll need one for DD now

Do most people plan this far ahead? I'm just trying to work it out as I'm a hypocrite really. I've been known to buy Christmas bits in January!

Easter, the new virtue signallers wet dream.

Personalised Easter Eve boxes filled with naff cheapo chocolate from the market suppliers, Easter PJs, Easter stockings to put Mini eggs in, Easter tree, Secret Easter bunny for the office, Easter Wonderland, Tim Burtons The Nightmare Before Easter. Easter candle sets by Primark in Spring Garden, Mint and Chocolate egg. Easter tablescaping ideas, The Easter bunny tracker by NORAD.

Skyeheather · 22/01/2023 09:13

There's nothing to plan - I'll buy Easter eggs when they have the full range to choose from in store. On Easter Sunday I'll cook a roast and invite MIL if she's around. Job done!

It's people like OPs friend who are making Easter "the new Christmas"... ruining it for fucking everyone.

Because now her kids will be prattling on about the OTT Easter, and people will start trying to level up etc. Alongside all the crap in the shops now making it out to be a gift giving and prolonged celebration.

I wonder why Bonfire Night has remained simple. When Easter, Halloween and Christmas, Eid, Chinese New Year etc seem to get bigger every year.

Excellent idea, you'll see me on Dragon's Den later in the year with my collection of Bonfire night crackers, napkins and personalised toffee apple bags! Grin

I'll buy an egg each for the kids a week before.

I might go camping if the weather is favourable but that's a bank holiday weekend thing, not just an Easter thing.

I hate social media. Easter, Christmas, Valentines, Baby 1st birthday etc etc have all become these ridiculous over inflated events because it has to look good for Instagram / Facebook likes. No one can just give a chocolate egg anymore or have the grandparents over for some Victoria sponge. There has to be balloons, costumes, fecking bunting and a giant fondant covered monstrosity that tastes like shit (because it's mostly fondant) but looks amazing.

Wizzbangfizz · 22/01/2023 09:18

Easter pjamas?! I’ve read it all on here now

Catnipcapers · 22/01/2023 09:18

We've booked a campsite and will buy DS some eggs. That's it.

ZenNudist · 22/01/2023 09:21

I'm Catholic and it's not lent yet! I am looking forward to having a reason to give up sugar! I'm also planning for how we could spend the Easter holidays but not booked anything yet.

Otherwise I will buy Easter eggs near the time and that's it. I may make some plans with my family once we know what we are doing for a holiday.

nibbledhiscable · 22/01/2023 09:22

If anyone is thinking they fancy a pair for their DC, these are good quality (but size up 2 sizes and they come up tiny!)

Just to mention though, the presents is because DS has a December birthday so never gets summery/outdoor gifts at Christmas or bday. This way he gets something new for outside at a more appropriate time of year (he's only little so wouldn't understand getting something and having to wait X many months to play with it)

Yes we do the same as my DS has a Boxing Day birthday. When they were little we used to get some garden type toys for Easter.

00100001 · 22/01/2023 08:26

What is there to plan?

1.Go to shops
2.buy a chocolate egg

  1. Bung it the kids way on Easter Sunday

😂

inappropriateraspberry · 22/01/2023 09:28

Easter pjs, Easter boxes and Easter bags? Personalised? What a load of crap. Wake up, see the chocolate. Have boiled eggs for breakfast and lamb for lunch. Hot cross buns and chocolate for tea!
If it's nice weather, maybe a hunt round the garden. Done. It's not Christmas.

inappropriateraspberry · 22/01/2023 09:31

Surely this isn't real?

Craghopper1 · 22/01/2023 09:41

OP do you sell Easter pyjamas?

WTF? Is this for real?!

MeMyBooksAndMyCats · 22/01/2023 09:43

No, Easter is a few chocolate eggs & a roast dinner or BBQ if the sun graces us with it's presence.

It's not Christmas, it's rather a sad state of affairs when people go overboard. Easter PJs like wtf.

£20 for PJs they'll only use once? Do people not understand we're in a cost of living crisis who can afford this shit?

aSofaNearYou · 22/01/2023 09:45

Way OTT, and creating ridiculous pressure and stress on people like you to keep up with the extreme consumerism.

It's almost sad reading about people trying to turn Easter into all of this.

£20 for some pjs just for Easter!? You are having a laugh! 🤣 who tf has money to throw away like this right now!?

lollipoprainbow · 22/01/2023 09:49

Will there be an Easter egg box given the night before Easter Sunday ? It all sounds way over the top.

MajorCarolDanvers · 22/01/2023 09:49

We give Easter eggs and have a roast dinner. And the catholics in the family go to church.

Planning, hiring Peter Rabbit? Presents, special pjs can bog right off.

LittleBearPad · 22/01/2023 09:50

MeMyBooksAndMyCats · 22/01/2023 09:45

Not everyone is. Yes things are more expensive but many people can absorb the extra cost.

However those pjs are naff and planning Easter in January is absurd.

Buy some eggs and a leg of lamb. Done.

PensionPuzzle · 22/01/2023 09:52

I'm planned in the sense that the refillable eggs we used to do an egg hunt in the garden last year are in a box in the loft, along with some bits of craft stuff that were left, ready to be used again.

I'll get some choc and top up the craft stuff the weekend they break up from school for the Easter hols 🤷‍♀️

DeathMetalMum · 22/01/2023 09:52

No. We don't really do big over Easter. We're actually away as we're using the extra bank holidays to not have to use annual leave. The kids will get an egg thrown at them when we get back Easter Monday evening.

A few years ago dp suggested money or a small gift at Easter (so they dont get so much chocolate) and I said no straight away. We don't any Easter bunny nonsense either. I didn't want it to be like a mini Christmas.

Easter as a child for me was just going to church more 🙄. Extra long mass on palm Sunday then going to mass on goo Friday as well as Easter Sunday.
