Are you planning for Easter already?

All of my old time friends have got it all sorted pretty much. One is hosting this year and the previous year another friend did it

They've hired Peter Rabbit to come and greet the children, and got their personalised Easter bags at the ready. Also personalised Easter Box with DC name on them

I got a text this morning to say Little Lords and Ladies have released their Easter 2023 pjs and to order now or they'll all get taken (they only do so many and then stop)

Then it'll be a roast for the adults with picky bits for the children.

One of my friends kindly bought me one last year as I'd run out of time Blush so my DS has one but I'll need one for DD now

Do most people plan this far ahead? I'm just trying to work it out as I'm a hypocrite really. I've been known to buy Christmas bits in January!

It's nice to do fun things if you want to and can afford to. Don't get dragged in if not. Most families just do religious Easter or a little egg hunt and lunch.
We don't even buy into that big roast dinner more like Christmas that the adverts like to push but may have elderly relative for usual roast.
Kids have always enjoyed a hunt round the garden and we used to do the odd Easter craft and hunt thing at NT when they were little.
I don't plan it just grab some eggs to put away in March.

RobinRobinMouse · 22/01/2023 08:41

We just buy Easter eggs, dd usually does some sort of Easter/Spring related craft and if I feel like pushing the boat out I'll probably buy some of those cheap mini fluffy chick's to hide around.

LubaLuca · 22/01/2023 08:42

Chocolate eggs and a roast dinner don't require much forethought.

An Easter box? Gosh.

TravellingSpoon · 22/01/2023 08:43

We will be away for the weekend, but my planning will be limited to buying some chocolate eggs and some hot cross buns for breakfast on Easter Sunday.

00100001 · 22/01/2023 08:26

What is there to plan?

1.Go to shops
2.buy a chocolate egg

  1. Bung it the kids way on Easter Sunday

🤣👌 same here

megletthesecond · 22/01/2023 08:48

Buy eggs. That's it.
Maybe have a bouquet of daffs.

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 22/01/2023 08:49

I haven't even looked up when Easter is this year yet... so no, I haven't planned anything.

And even when I do find out when Easter is I won't be planning anything. I'll just buy some chocolate eggs in the weekly shop and eat them on Easter Sunday.

RampantIvy · 22/01/2023 08:50

Only beginning to think about booking somewhere to stay near DD because she doesn't get much time off at Easter.

I love Easter because the clock have gone forward and better weather is on the horizon. I'm getting fed up with scraping ice off the car every time I go out.

Abraxan · 22/01/2023 08:51

I'm planning the Easter break from school - I teach.
It's DD's 21st and we are planning on going away in holiday for a week or so over that time.

So, in that sense I'm planning Easter.

In term's of Easter itself (the whole east eggs side, as not religious) then no. Never had, other than buying some chocolate eggs nearer the time.

OnePerson · 22/01/2023 08:52

Buy easter eggs when they on offer in Tesco. Eat some, buy some more and give to kids on Easter Sunday.

Easter done.

Plumbear2 · 22/01/2023 08:53

Urg, so much commercialised rubbish. When mine where little they got an egg hunt , £2 box of smaller eggs and job done. They where extremely excited about that.

QuertyGirl · 22/01/2023 08:55

More shit to buy and put in the bin! Yay!

KillingLoneliness · 22/01/2023 08:55

Are your friends all fairly well off!? I don’t understand why they are making such a big deal over it! Easter pjs!? It all sounds super fancy and ott!

I just pop to tesco and buy one of those Easter hunt packs for £5 and a couple of bigger Easter Eggs for my kids, have I been failing miserably? 😂

Rockingcloggs · 22/01/2023 08:56

Easter is a none starter in our house! A few eggs and I'll let him eat some coco-pops in half an egg cos I'm edgy like that but otherwise no!

Do you want to do all these things because you do or because your mates are doing it and you feel pressured?! Because if it's the latter, honestly, don't bother! The kids just want to eat their body weight in egg shaped confectionary!

luckylavender · 22/01/2023 08:58

Woeman · 22/01/2023 08:25

Planned what??

Go to shop, buy some easter eggs.

This

Larrythellama · 22/01/2023 08:58

What on earth? This probably sounds awful but on first reading I thought this was one of those posts taking the piss out of the commercialisation of Easter 🙈. Peter rabbit meet and greet? Personalised Easter boxes? I hope it doesn’t get as big as Christmas as that would be stressful. I do an Easter egg hunt in the garden, probs so a roast and that’s about it. I love all the Holy Week church services that’s a highlight for me. I’ve always liked Easter as it’s a more relaxed version of Xmas with less prep and better weather 😊

SliceOfCakeCupOfTea · 22/01/2023 08:58

00100001 · 22/01/2023 08:33

So, mark his half birthday?

Or why not co-opt another festival?

Why should I?

I mean I'm 33 and I also always got a present at Easter off my parents because I have a November birthday so it's hardly a brand new idea is it.

Why should I change my family traditions because you don't like them?.

Idontgiveagriffindamn · 22/01/2023 08:58

My planning is buying Easter eggs to be prepared, eating said Easter eggs and then rebuying.
Never heard of Easter pjs or an Easter box.
The kids are expecting an elaborate Easter egg hunt this year thanks to Bluey rather than my normal hiding them before I go to bed so I guess there will be a little bit more planning this year.

mozzyworries · 22/01/2023 08:59

My family and my husbands family do nothing for easter, maybe buy an Easter egg if we fancy it.

No family celebrations at all, we never have. Always find it bizarre it's such a big deal for so many people.

This year I'll be 9 months pregnant/in labour so anyone who wants to bring me chocolate is very very welcome to!

Kevinyoutwat · 22/01/2023 08:59

Bloody hell.

We just buy the children a couple of chocolate eggs each.

And that’s only because everyone else has them and it’s crap to make children feel as though they are missing out.

And that’s it. Done.

YorkshireIndie · 22/01/2023 09:00

We will be gearing up for my brother's wedding at the end of the month and going to church - hopefully the dawn service

Soccermumamir · 22/01/2023 09:01

Not even thought about it lol 😆
We don't do easter boxes or PJs like Christmas. But do need to plan some days out 🙂

Anotheanon · 22/01/2023 09:09

Little lord and ladies Easter pyjamas?
🤣
This all sounds very over the top.

TiaraBoo · 22/01/2023 09:11

Originally yes I’ve taken a few days off but then I read the full message!
Never done any of this.

What I do:
-buy hot cross buns from Jan onwards to ‘test’ them out
-buy Easter eggs
-hope someone makes roast lamb
-eat Easter eggs
