Are you planning for Easter already?

All of my old time friends have got it all sorted pretty much. One is hosting this year and the previous year another friend did it

They've hired Peter Rabbit to come and greet the children, and got their personalised Easter bags at the ready. Also personalised Easter Box with DC name on them

I got a text this morning to say Little Lords and Ladies have released their Easter 2023 pjs and to order now or they'll all get taken (they only do so many and then stop)

Then it'll be a roast for the adults with picky bits for the children.

One of my friends kindly bought me one last year as I'd run out of time Blush so my DS has one but I'll need one for DD now

Do most people plan this far ahead? I'm just trying to work it out as I'm a hypocrite really. I've been known to buy Christmas bits in January!

Buy easter eggs when they on offer in Tesco. Eat some, buy some more and give to kids on Easter Sunday.

Easter done.

This

They really want people to know they have money to burn.
People used to just buy BMWs.

MotherofPearl · 22/01/2023 09:53

This is absurd.

Like a lot of other women on here, I work FT, have DC, and feel like the mental load I bear in terms of planning and organisation is already very heavy. My headspace is full to capacity with fitting it all in.

The thought of Easter becoming yet another thing I have to 'plan for' and think about makes me feel like breaking down tbh. Christmas is bad enough. Why don't we cut ourselves some slack instead of making yet more work for ourselves?

I will 100% not be buying into this nonsense.

£20 for PJs they'll only use once? Do people not understand we're in a cost of living crisis who can afford this shit?

Maybe they're using them throughout the year? My dc are still wearing their 2021 Xmas pj's.

No church events I’ll be spending Easter weekend doing the church things a first for me chocolate I’ll think of later.

Roseelane · 22/01/2023 09:55

Aaah that's so lovely and such a lot of prep! Easter in our household is a much smaller affair with a roast dinner, one egg for each child, and an Easter egg hunt in the garden. This all takes v little planning so no, we are not planning for it now. Will plan the week before by adding eggs to shopping list and finding the plastic eggs we hide in the garden.

lollipoprainbow · 22/01/2023 09:56

@octoegg don't forget the personalized bonfire night box to give the night before bonfire night.

Greensleevevssnotnose · 22/01/2023 09:56

More commercialisation. Good God no. There's nothing to plan, except some rest and relaxation and leg of lamb and some veggies.

If anyone is thinking they fancy a pair for their DC, these are good quality (but size up 2 sizes and they come up tiny!)

Way OTT, and creating ridiculous pressure and stress on people like you to keep up with the extreme consumerism.

It's almost sad reading about people trying to turn Easter into all of this.

Exactly

Easter jesus died rose again do they put up dead jesus crosses in the decorations or is it all fluffy bunnies and ducklings. Total infantilism of everything. Their kids will end up super wet.

And who wants kids who expect gifts, presents, entertainment, new clothes and pyjamas every bank holiday.

What's next?

May Day pyjamas?
Summer holiday eve boxes?

nibbledhiscable · 22/01/2023 10:01

@frozendaisy Summer Holiday box is already a thing I'm afraid Blush (not with me!)

WeWereInParis · 22/01/2023 10:02

What's an Easter box? What do you put in it?

Peridot1 · 22/01/2023 10:04

Ridiculous over commercialisation.

when I was a child we got an Easter egg and new clothes. That was it. And the new clothes was to have something nice to wear to mass every Sunday.

i do decorate a bit - we lived in Eastern Europe where it’s a big thing but just painted eggs hung on branches in a vase. Otherwise we will just have roast lamb for dinner.

why do people have to over do everything?

LlynTegid · 22/01/2023 10:05

And to think I thought Christmas was over-commercialised!

The OP has very different friends from me.

Woeman · 22/01/2023 08:25

Planned what??

Go to shop, buy some easter eggs.

Exactly - and some days off work for the bank holidays

ChocolatSouris · 22/01/2023 10:06

We usually spend Easter in France and Netherlands with family and friends.

Church followed by an egg hunt in the forest. I love it because it’s low key except for the chocolat scoffing!

Workinghardeveryday · 22/01/2023 10:09

Omfg. Easter will be the new Christmas in a few years.

Kids: mum it is Easter soon
Me: yes I know
Kids: am I getting an egg?
Me: Yes, which one would you like?
Kids: That one please

End of

inappropriateraspberry · 22/01/2023 10:12

Forgot, we do have a tree thing we hang egg decorations on. It's only up for a few days though.

hopeishere · 22/01/2023 10:15

It's all for the Gram! Same as the OTT Christmas starting in November, once they've got the OTT Halloween out of the way and before the endless "making memories" of summer.

Thesearmsofmine · 22/01/2023 10:16

I bet they post the photos all over social media.

Thesearmsofmine · 22/01/2023 10:16

Are they celebrating Chinese New Year too?

Reindear · 22/01/2023 10:17

I didn’t know Easter pjs were a thing! What does your friend put in the Easter box?!

i do a treasure hunt for mine and they get mini chocs with each clue and a couple of big eggs at the end. Roast dinner. Boom, done.

picnicshnicnic · 22/01/2023 10:20

I didn't realise this was a thing?

Buy some Easter eggs? Job done
