We have DSs friend with us for a sleepover. It's unplanned because of a sudden family bereavement

I knew he was gluten free which is fine.. but now I've discovered he's also vegan.

I was going to do gluten free fish fingers, potato wedges and beans but obviously no good and I'm tired at at a loss as to what to replace fish fingers with.

I'm sure it's obvious.. but.. help? Please..

So go vegetarian- at least then he can have cheese/ eggs!

Dairy and eggs are arguably more abusive than meat.

The boy has every right to eat whatever he wants. Good for him for choosing a less cruel and more eco friendly way of life. In this day and age it's actually not that difficult to do.

Jacket potatoes and vegan cheese?
Vegan pizza there are a few options in the Asda
Vegan nuggets and wedges

What does he usually eat?

Yes - because there’s no ethical concerns there are there? Do you genuinely think he’s living his life this way just to be deliberately difficult on playmates?

how odd

Thank you all for your replies (well most of you!!)

Pasta went down well and I remembered I had some alpro chocolate deserts which I buy anyway because I the children like them. Then breakfast was OK too.

He's gone back for now but think he'll be back for at least a night early next week so if anyone wants to head over to the food/recipes board and tell me how to make a gluten free vegan rice pudding I'd be grateful. Next time will be better. I actually quite enjoy cooking but yesterday was turned upside down so just went for easy options. I will make a batch of chickpea korma at the weekend and freeze it ready for the next time
