What the fuck to do with a half finished bowl of cereal filled with milk? The sink? Loads of mush. The bin? Too much liquid….

is there an answer?

serve a smaller amount so there’s no waste

ISaidDontLickTheBin · 09/01/2023 13:57

Our kitchen has a waste disposal (fitted by the previous owners) which is perfect for this sort of thing. Before that we used a sink strainer like pp describe.

Mol1628 · 09/01/2023 13:57

I wouldn’t put it in the toilet. My husband does this and it drives me crazy as usually it’s too light to flush it all down and then it’s floating. Urgh

Harebrain · 09/01/2023 14:01

We give it to the cat. She’s 18 and we’ve been doing it for years so I don’t think it’s doing her any harm. She loves the end of a yogurt too.

IfOnlyTheyMeantIt · 09/01/2023 14:01

What @crosspusscrossstitcher said.

And stop pouring more than you need.

FurryDandelionSeekingMissile · 09/01/2023 14:03

Get flatter, wider bowls, serve a little less cereal and pour on a lot less milk. This gives you space to move the cereal as you eat it, so you don't get dry first mouthfuls, or soggy remnants floating in 30p's worth of wasted milk.

FunnysInLaJardin · 09/01/2023 14:07

Cant believe people put food down the loo 😩

Do you know what poo is made from??

OP my kids always eat half their cereal (until I give them half and then they want seconds) this is the BANE of my life. I try and pour milk down the sink and the cereal in the food bin. So annoying though. Some cereal always ends up in the sink. Ugh!

FurryDandelionSeekingMissile · 09/01/2023 14:12

An illustration of why those 70s bowls of your mum's are superior for cereal to the big rounded modern ones.

I clicked on this thinking it was a post from a fellow gym-dodger!

I just hold the cereal back with the spoon while I put the milk down the sink, then throw the cereal in the bin.

Me too!

Befanadi · 09/01/2023 14:15

You've never come across this before? @Flameshame

Tip into sink drainer then put drained cereal into bin.

Lakeyloo · 09/01/2023 14:16

Another toilet tipper here...same for chunky soup or anything similar. Just chuck some toilet roll on top and it will all flush away.

Befanadi · 09/01/2023 14:16

Flavabobble · 09/01/2023 13:46

Pour it back in the bottle surely.

You wouldn't would you? There would be bits of cereal in the milk bottle.

Cats shouldn't have cows milk, should they?

Nope

wheelywheelynice · 09/01/2023 14:19

Toilet

DeFacto · 09/01/2023 14:19

Err, isn't this what sieves are for?

VeggieSalsa · 09/01/2023 14:20

I do toilet, but then read that it was bad for plumbing, so who knows.

Not really, I'd drink it. But I hate food waste.

If you end up throwing it away, I can't begin to understand why you'd carry on pouring too much?

Wallabyone · 09/01/2023 14:22

Do people really throw food down the toilet?! 🥴

Only if it's the same consistency of vomit

megletthesecond · 09/01/2023 14:25

I keep a small pile of sturdy cereal / plastic food bags for this. I pour it in there and bin it. The best one is the plastic wrapper the dough balls come in. I call them 'gunk bags'.

Chesneyhawkes1 · 09/01/2023 14:31

My dog finishes it off. I use oat milk on cereal, so it's all ok

wormshuffled · 09/01/2023 14:31

Mine goes in the loo too, the vomit analogy my feeling too.

SirChenjins · 09/01/2023 14:35

Toilet. I do this with soup too.

Lol at the poster who’s horrified that people put food down the loo - I m an, what do you think poo and vomit contain?!

It's not that, it's that drainage systems aren't set up for food, so anything that doesn't break down as easily as shit can cause a problem. I think saturated Rice Krispies are probably okay though…
