Anyone up? So worried about DD

Currently on hold to 111 but I'm so worried. DD who is 3 has had a temp since Christmas Eve, it's been up and down ranging between 38.6 and 39.7 but it's currently at 40.7 and I can't get it down. She's snotty and complaining of a sore head and is now bringing everything including calpol/nurofen back up, the last lot she brought up was clear with what looks like specks of blood in it.
Has anyone had similar and what was it?
I know there's some horrible bugs going around at the moment so it could just be that but the fact I can't get her temperature down and what looks like blood now in her sick is really worrying me.

All the stuff about ‘terrible Tory NHS’ yet a kid with a non life threatening cold is seen and treated quickly. What exactly are people wanting?! The expectation in this country is to go to A&E with a worry and be seen in 10 minutes and it be free. Where else in the world does this happen?

OP was obviously right to get her baby checked but come on!!

Ah yes, the anecdotal experience of one mother whose child was (thankfully) seen swiftly means there are no problems in the NHS. I'll let the nurses on the picket line, patients stuck in ambulances outside hospitals and people waiting years in pain for a hip replacement know they don't need to be concerned.

Come on now.

Get to A&E

Get to A&E

Your need to post was so important that

  1. You didn't think that in nearly 48 hours someone might have said that
  2. You couldn't read the OP's updates where she talks about going to A and E, being seen, going home and her daughter getting better.

What on Earth are you talking about? A barely responsive baby with a temperature which won't come down IS life threatening.

There’s a huge difference between a cold and influenza. The child had an uncontrollable fever she needed to go to hospital end of

It would be great is adults who are suffering could be seen quickly too, instead of lying on the floor for hours waiting for an ambulance then waiting outside hospital in an ambulance. That is the Tory's NHS - but not helped by people who wont be vaccinated or wear a mask.

This poor child is recovering but not out of the woods yet.

I've been syringing some diluted apple juice into her mouth every few minutes all day because she just doesn't get not gulping it down yet (we tried that this morning and it all came straight back up) it seems to be working for now and she's managed some toast for dinner so fingers crossed tomorrow will be further improvement. So sorry to read so many of your little ones are ill too at the moment, I hope they are all feeling much better soon! The doctor I spoke to yesterday did say this has been a very bad winter for it.

Hope she is feeling better now.
For future reference if drinking liquids is bouncing off tummy & causing child to be sick, because they are thirsty but don’t yet understand not to gulp it, calippo & fruit pastille lollies are great for getting fluids in without it going in too quickly.
They also have the added effect of helping keep sugar levels up - if child is not eating much -, soothing throats & cooling the
down too.
Also honey is a natural antibacterial so that with some lemon & hit water is a nice drink to help fight bug & temp too 💗

Thankyou @Grrrrdarling she isn't quite 100% yet but is doing much better!
Thanks for the tips I will keep that in mind for future reference and stock the freezer up on ice lollies Smile

Not a problem @worriedmama202 The little tricks that help them weather stuff easier when they are younger make it easier for us all. ❤
