Anyone up? So worried about DD

worriedmama202 · 26/12/2022 04:37

Currently on hold to 111 but I'm so worried. DD who is 3 has had a temp since Christmas Eve, it's been up and down ranging between 38.6 and 39.7 but it's currently at 40.7 and I can't get it down. She's snotty and complaining of a sore head and is now bringing everything including calpol/nurofen back up, the last lot she brought up was clear with what looks like specks of blood in it.
Has anyone had similar and what was it?
I know there's some horrible bugs going around at the moment so it could just be that but the fact I can't get her temperature down and what looks like blood now in her sick is really worrying me.

So glad she’s ok! It’s such a worry when they’re little and not well.

Make sure you take care of you too. Stay hydrated and rested. Xx

ImustLearn2Cook · 26/12/2022 23:42

So awesome to hear that she is recovering quickly and you got the help you needed for her. I hope you get a good night sleep tonight.

ZeViteVitchofCwismas · 27/12/2022 00:41

Worried that's DC for you. Once I had to race DC through a and e and she was so unwell. Seen immediately over night and the next morning I left her wan and feeble to go and get a shower and when I returned she was in full flow enjoying the play room!
This is why medics usually always see sc because they go downhill so quickly but can bounce back

Jack80 · 27/12/2022 17:51

I hope your daughter is ok.

GreenFingersWouldBeHandy · 27/12/2022 17:52

How is she today? So glad you received good care and advice. I hope you've had a chance for a rest too!

There is a post by the OP yesterday with an update.

Brackensmomma · 27/12/2022 18:08

@EmmaC78 sorry I didn't see it.
I'll have a look.
Thanks.

Brackensmomma · 27/12/2022 18:15

@worriedmama202 so glad your daughter is on the mend.
A&E staff will prioritise children. As children can mask being ill.
Thankfully your daughter is on the mend.
Prayers for a full and speedy recovery..

Thanks for checking in. She's been a bit up and down today, we all got a full nights sleep which I was very glad about but she's still being sick although is managing to keep fluids down now.
DH woke up with it this morning so he's been a write off today, let's just say I'll be glad when this weeks over with.

So glad she is OK. My little boy nearly 3yrs old has had similar but has tonsillitis and ear infection. Took him a and e as no reply from 111 for 15hours so gave up waiting. Said its good he came in as he wasn't drinking or eating. He's slowly on the mend. 5 days of fever but hopefully he will bouncing round the house again in a few days.

Hopefully your little one continues to improve

bananainpjs · 27/12/2022 19:35

I took mine to A&E when my DS used to have tonsillitis. They used to give him a spray and his temperature used to eventually come down after day 3. He’s had his tonsils out now and he doesn’t have any problems now.

Wetblanket78 · 27/12/2022 19:51

Something fizzy is good gets rid of the gas and helps keep fluids down. Wait a while before offering anything to drink. I usually give them fizzy water but anything fizzy helps.

Get her to take little sips through a straw. The worse thing to do is gulp drinks down. Always settles my daughters stomach so she can keep epilepsy meds down.

A tepid not cold flannel on they're forehead back of neck and wrists will help cool her. Keep her stripped off with a cotton sheet over her.

worriedmama202 · 27/12/2022 20:01

I've been syringing some diluted apple juice into her mouth every few minutes all day because she just doesn't get not gulping it down yet (we tried that this morning and it all came straight back up) it seems to be working for now and she's managed some toast for dinner so fingers crossed tomorrow will be further improvement. So sorry to read so many of your little ones are ill too at the moment, I hope they are all feeling much better soon! The doctor I spoke to yesterday did say this has been a very bad winter for it.

A 7 hour wait to see a doctor?! 😱

I was waiting almost 9 hours with 1 year old DD last week!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 27/12/2022 20:57

You must be exhausted. Hoping you don't catch it and that your dd recovers soon. 🌹

RingInTheNew · 27/12/2022 21:16

hope your Dd is better now. We had a similar experience with our 13 year old a couple of weeks ago - v high temp for 3 days - we were thinking strep A but it turned out to be flu. Lots of it around.

Marmitepot · 27/12/2022 21:35

I’ve never known so many people to be ill. The last few weeks have been relentless.

glad your dd is on the mend. It’s terrifying when their temps spike like that.

supaloops · 27/12/2022 21:38

I'm glad your DD seems to be on the mend now. I was advised to give my child something frozen, like ice Lolly to eat. It helps reduce their core temperature. It's worked every time since, for my little ones who tend to have temps of 40 plus, and don't always respond to calpol.

Kjpt140v · 27/12/2022 21:50

You should have taken her to A&E immediately.

funrunning · 27/12/2022 21:52

All the stuff about ‘terrible Tory NHS’ yet a kid with a non life threatening cold is seen and treated quickly. What exactly are people wanting?! The expectation in this country is to go to A&E with a worry and be seen in 10 minutes and it be free. Where else in the world does this happen?

OP was obviously right to get her baby checked but come on!!
