Tesco today 10 minutes early:
2 subs -one dessert wine for a different one, and appletiser in bottles instead of cans.
One missing item - sellotape .
There were no eggs available when I checked out, so no eggs (so I've hidden the box I have left so the family don't decide they want them all for breakfast)

QueenofLouisiana · 21/12/2022 22:27

Sainsburys tonight, on time by about 3 minutes but still on time!
Four subs- all sensible. None were vital, but I’m a bit meh about my veggie Christmas dinner, I’d prefer my original choice.
crumpets unavailable and I’d asked that these weren’t subbed.
Pleased with the dates on my chilled things.
However, I’d been collecting long-life stuff and frozen things as we go along. Meat order with the local village.

notprincehamlet · 21/12/2022 22:33

No veggie mince pies, Christmas pudding, Yule log, nut cutlets or red tablecloth Hmm

hiredandsqueak · 21/12/2022 22:35

Ocado, no subs and no missing items everything with long dates so really pleased. Also got free delivery and a free tub of celebrations with my order.

Readaboutyourself · 21/12/2022 22:36

Perfect delivery from Ocado today 🙌

Edwardwilliamnancy · 21/12/2022 23:02

Tesco -- only sub was ice cream brand /flavour changed would be fine for most but this has gluten in which not all family can eat but minor issue we've got alternatives.

Biggest problem (which seems to be a recurring issue) was milk had leaked all over shopping so lots of washing food packaging down and am short 4 pints of milk. The drivers are great but I'm getting frustrated as head office keep saying its a shop issue and refuse to look into it.

declutteringmymind · 21/12/2022 23:05

Waitrose today. 4 subs. All acceptable and close to what was needed.

Turkey tomorrow and
I'm done!

Dragonskin · 21/12/2022 23:21

One type of wine not available, 3 decent subs, and one 400g Christmas cake bar substituted with 900g full Christmas cake (what a shame!!)

Dryadia · 21/12/2022 23:26

Tesco order today, no subs. Not a huge shop but lots of xmas stuff included.

TheChosenTwo · 22/12/2022 06:25

Just had the email about my ocado order this morning and of the £420 worth of goods I’ve ordered there is one substitution of a fruity cider for a different fruity cider. Happens to be one DD doesn’t like but I’ll keep it as someone else will drink it over Christmas I’m sure.
So very happy with that. One of my (many many) gripes with ocado is that they charge you a higher price when they sub something, I know other supermarkets don’t charge for it so you often get a free upgrade!

Last year I got blueberries instead of cranberries 😁. I wonder what Thursday’s delivery will bring.

My cranberry Wensleydale was subbed for apricot.
No thank you!

IAmDeborah · 22/12/2022 06:40

Got a HUGE click and collect from ALDI yesterday evening. All the Christmas stuff was present and correct, a few substitutes on some of the more normal things but nothing too crazy. I had ordered a couple of cheesecakes for Christmas Eve which were subbed for other desserts but I wasn't that wedded to my original choice!
Loads of different cheeses etc all in stock so I was chuffed.

IAmDeborah · 22/12/2022 06:42

Actually- I was pleasantly surprised that they subbed my 2.5kg of ordinary white potatoes @ £1.19 with 2x 2kg bags @ 15p each 😁

lucysmam · 22/12/2022 09:08

Just checked my Tesco receipt for this morning - 2 perfectly fine subs, pretty much straight swap for one and a bit better for the other.

No Galaxy selection box so the girls dad will get what I can find at this point.

And my chicken is dated 24th, but will be fine in the freezer.

So nothing too dreadful there.

ToffeeNotCoffee · 22/12/2022 09:11

Anyone else had the stealth supermarket grocery delivery ?

My ASDA delivery came yesterday, between 5pm and 6pm as agreed. We didn't hear the van turn up. I got an e-mail to say it had been delivered. I wondered if had gone to the wrong house.

I went outside the house to check, and yes, in the dark, there were four crates of our grocery order by the side of our house. My husband asked me to switch the outside light on.

I thought I heard the shutters on the delivery van being opened and closed quietly and the crates being moved quietly but assumed it was for another household. (Should have looked out of the window but I didn't.)

We then brought it all into the kitchen as normal. (Bread sauce got subbed for cheese sauce, small cans of tonic got subbed for a couple of bottles of the same brand, the gammon got subbed from premium brand to normal. So, nothing too bad.)

On the one had he was a ninja delivery driver on the other hand it was quicker for him to do it that way.

Piscesmumma1978 · 22/12/2022 09:12

Surprisingly, not bad at all! One sub on yesterdays but for the same thing and we got everything on Mondays!

The dates have all been good this year. I remember last year some things were out of date before Christmas day.

Hoppinggreen · 22/12/2022 09:14

Ocado due any minute
No chocolate croissants and no biscuits for cheese - the latter is a bit of an issue as I have ordered a shit load of cheese

hazelnutlatte · 22/12/2022 09:21

My sainsburys order has arrived without the turkey! We are vegetarian but have non veg guests coming for Christmas Dinner so I'd ordered a turkey breast joint that was all prepped and all I would need to do was put it in the oven. Now I have to go searching all of the supermarkets for something similar and I bet I end up with a massive turkey to deal with.
Loads of substitutions too but mostly sensible.

toogoodforthisworld · 22/12/2022 09:25

Asda yesterday- Got my freezer and cupboard stuff - but no chilled stuff (basically I missed 3 crates..) so no milk cheese (cooked)meats etc.. 65 pounds worth of stuff .. luckily I could reorder for Xmas Eve...

SeenAndNot · 22/12/2022 09:25

Most items in stock, too many with short dates, two items out of date - one by 7 days. It was a key Christmas dinner component.

Tesco. Not impressed. Won’t be darkening their doors in the new year.

PickleSarnie · 22/12/2022 09:28

We have two orders with Ocado. First arrived yesterday and everything there apart from, weirdly, digestives. Didn't think there would be a mad Christmas clamour for those!

Glittertwins · 22/12/2022 10:11

All good here. Only short date on some chicken which was going directly into the freezer anyway.

mogtheexcellent · 22/12/2022 11:18

All ok here. Sliced turkey subbed with more expensive and bigger pack so thats a win.

Rejected a few short date items, can get from the village store. Plus unlike the supermarket they never run out of eggs.

The big surprise was a random pannetone. Wasnt on my order and I cant stand the stuff so handed back to driver.

Eukanuba · 22/12/2022 11:35

Ocado , no subs - just my roast potatoes missing , very impressed.

Lulu2171 · 22/12/2022 13:25

Booked Waitrose for 23rd first thing so have time to pop out locally if subs below par. Although the turkey is from Waitrose entertaining so that ought to be guaranteed. Got a couple of thing on our walk today which were already sold out online.

But we're not hosting anyone. So pressure massively off.
