Ocado, no Brie but everything else will arrive later. We hardly ever have substitutions or missing items from them.

CocktailNapkin · 21/12/2022 13:13

Waitrose was 100% yesterday (11 am delivery) and I got a free sample of some green tea drink. I didn't order a lot of specific Christmas stuff, but the cocktail sausages in bacon showed at least.

Unfortunately RM delivered some wonton wrappers I had ordered from Amazon - they came in a destroyed parcel with a note that it was delivered to RM like that and they took no liability. They were supposed to be delivered on the 16th and by yesterday were mouldy and an off colour so had to toss them in the bin. I really didn't want to hand make them, but I can't make it to an Asian grocery now just for those.

Aposterhasnoname · 21/12/2022 13:15

Well mines not arrived from Asda yet, but just had the receipt and just three minor subs. It was also mostly free due to rewards points so very happy.

AdoraBell · 21/12/2022 13:16

Mine is due on Thursday, keeping my fingers crossed they have most of what I’ve ordered.

notthe1Parrot · 21/12/2022 19:00

Waitrose yesterday lunchtime - all 'ordinary' stuff as well as Christmas stuff. Only 2 substitutions, one sensible, one not so sensible (mushroom cup a soup instead of tinned).
Best thing was all the dates were very good, all to Christmas Day and beyond, especially the milk.

Valhalla17 · 21/12/2022 19:02

Very good from Waitrose as got everything except for iced fruit cake (they sent an un-iced variety) and weirdly long life milk. They didn't think to give me an alternative to the milk haha

BuwchGochGota · 21/12/2022 19:08

Tesco is coming on Friday morning. I've also got an M&S Food to Order slot to pick up on Saturday morning.

I've bought all the cupboard and frozen items well in advance so there's only so much that can go wrong, and I'm hoping that the things that you had to pre-order will be fine as they won't be picking those from the store.

DrSmoot · 21/12/2022 19:32

Asda delivered today.
4 subs
1 was crappy sub from an ‘Extra special’ to an Asda Essentials item.
The cream goes out of date 23rd December so that’s useless
1 protein yogurt actually went out of date 26th November!
Everything else is fine.

TheYummyPatler · 21/12/2022 19:34

Mine was fine except for the stupid substitution of raspberries for cranberries.

Oh god you lot are making me nervous!

my slot is on Christmas Eve with Ocado. Never done a Christmas shop with them before

Ocado are usually very reliable TBF

mamabear715 · 21/12/2022 19:44

Interesting reading!
Mine comes on 23rd, fingers crossed..

tealandteal · 21/12/2022 19:45

The only thing they didn’t bring was nappies! And parsnips but that’s because I forgot to order them. The cream had split and was all over the chilled but it all washed off, and they refunded me for everything that got cream on even though I said I didn’t mind. So a quick trip for nappies and cream, and parsnips if I can find any.

I was a bit shocked at the amount missing today especially as my pick up slot was 5pm so they've had all day for deliveries to come in

I know in Tesco the majority of the stock comes in to be put out at night and is put out from 10pm through to 5/6/7am. This is so the shop floor isn’t crammed full of staff with cages of stock during the day, they do a one hour ‘rumble’ in the afternoon where managers and other available staff pile onto the shop floor and fill little bits/take empty cardboard away but the home shopping is all picked between 6am-3pm on a normal week and even earlier Christmas week. you are always best getting early morning slots for the best availability. Bit late now I know but a tip for next year.

When goods go out on shelves in Tesco varies from store to store. They have got rid of a lot of night shift, and the plan is to get rid of more. In many stores, because of this, you are better off to get a later slot. My local store was one of many who's night shift was made redundant last year. Groceries get filled in the evening, fruit, veg, bread and refrigerated items get stocked up first thing in the morning.

In addition, some Tesco deliveries get picked from a warehouse rather than a store. I'm not sure of their delivery and stocking schedules.

I’m waiting for mine now. According to the receipt there are four reasonable subs and no red cabbage which isn’t the end of the world but there’s not enough meat!
Both turkey and gammon over 1kg less than ordered. Only getting 1/4 of the beef ordered. At least I have time to source more.

I got a mini red cabbage. It’s not much bigger than a sprout. 🤣

Leggingslife · 21/12/2022 20:00

Tesco - worse than normal.
2 unavailable
6 subs.

Went to Sainsbury's and got the two unavailable items.

Craftybodger · 20/12/2022 22:03

Ocado this evening, all there and on time.

Ocado order for 23rd, forgot breadcrumbs and now can’t add them.

Ocado’s service level really dipped last year when they started with M&S, I feel they’ve improved again but their prices are steeper than ever.

I agree with this . A lot

Cleothecat75 · 21/12/2022 20:10

Tesco Delivery was 5 minutes early (I was still getting dressed!). Subbed were biscuits - milk chocolate selection instead of chocolatey selection and no sub for a pack of Cadbury reindeer cake things I’d ordered for the dc Christmas Day pudding so I’ll have to pop out to get something else for them, but it’s not a major problem.

i was quite impressed.

ThomasHardyPerennial · 21/12/2022 20:14

Ocado delivery this morning, everything arrived. Much better than last year!

ElectiveAffinities · 21/12/2022 20:34

I booked a Sainsburys delivery for today but it wasn’t a huge one as we seem to have got the big things - turkey, ham and pigs in blankets come from our excellent local butcher. We didn’t have any subs, just a few things unavailable which I didn’t want subbed and would rather do without.

However - the driver arrived and confessed that he’d left our delivery at his previous address! He had to go back and get it from them, then come back to us. Took the best part of an hour…

PositiveLife · 21/12/2022 21:13

I think mine might be a disaster. Ordered with Morrisons because it was the only place I could get a slot. No text so I checked the website and it said my order was running 20 mins late, 2 items missing. Got a text 10 mins after my slot to say some deliveries running late - website then said 1 hour late. Website now says 1 hour 10 mins late. Loads of people on twitter saying theirs didn't arrive yesterday. I'll have to go out tomorrow after work if it doesn't arrive but its annoying because it's not a full shop, just a few bits plus weekly essentials.

PositiveLife · 21/12/2022 21:48

It's arrived! But the poor driver said that I was actually the first person on that part of the round so I'm lucky to get it. Apparently lots of people not getting their deliveries tonight Sad

Not bad today (Sainsbury’s) but I ordered a tub of Quality Street, and they contacted us to say they didn’t have any tubs, so sent two bags of QS instead. I thought all the supermarkets were choc full 😂 of tubs of chocolates just now! 🎄

No, the tubs have been on promotion since before bonfire night, there's none left in my local store.

I seem to be the unlucky one this year with Ocado. Just posted this on another thread, having missed this one which is where it would be most useful:

I got my Christmas order this morning. Fortunately I checked the email first as they had substituted the turkey I ordered with a bigger and much, much more expensive one. I handed it back. Fingers crossed I can get a decent one locally instead. They emailed this afternoon to let me know it had been substituted and saying they would be giving me a voucher, but (a) that was far too late as the turkey will be back at the depot now and (b) the voucher offered was a piffling amount compared with what I would have been charged.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 21/12/2022 21:54

I was responding to this, which might be useful to somebody:

If you have an Ocado order due this week, go in and check the prices they are charging by selecting ‘view’ instead of enter. Lots of things have been reduced; I.e M&S bread sauce is now on offer at £1.50, and parsnips £2.25 instead of £4.50. (Not flash sales, but reductions) I had been charged the original price, that they were selling for when I put them in my basket in November. Have two browsers open and you can go through and delete the original items and add them again at the reduced price. I have just gone though and reduced by bill by nearly £15.
