I was remembering back when I was kid, my Nan would pick us up from school, and take us back to her house where we would have a small tea.

One thing we loved was tidgy puds and gravy. I was gutted when they stopped doing tidgy puds

Mars Delight
there was a I think Terrys chocolate bar of small pyramid milk chocolate with caramel goey stuff inside, 1989/1990s?
80s/90s an Italian sort of swirled on top ice cream but more in a mound than a tub I think.
cinnamon strudel frozen bar

Crayfishforyou · 14/12/2022 15:49

Proper Irn bru.

Rancheros. A bacon flavour crispy snack. Remember them from the 70s buying them from the school tuck shop.

Which I've just googled and found they're available in Ireland! 😊

Poundland in Belfast sell them, and I'm pretty sure Poundland is a UK-wide company. They do big bags, never seen small packets.

My Death Row last request would be for a packet of Tudor crisps, though. Either Gammon or Spring Onion, or those funny green speckled Cream Cheese and Chives ones, which really didn't look or sound as if they should be appetising, but were amazing.

Alfiemoon1 · 14/12/2022 15:50

McDonald’s sausage and egg bagel

Mooshroo · 14/12/2022 15:50

Time Outs! The proper ones, not the shit wafers they sell now

TheShellBeach · 14/12/2022 15:51

Vesta Beef Curry.

Actually, it was vile, but I would so like to try it one more time, to prove to myself how nasty it was.

It seemed so outre and exotic at the time though.

Mint flavour choc ice magic.
You can buy similar stuff now but (1) it’s not as good and goes all horrible in the bottle (I presume whatever they put in ice magic to make it work is now banned!), and (2) it’s always salted caramel etc flavour, never mint. Also I miss the nice blobby lid.

I agree @Talipesmum and every time one of these threads comes up it's always Ice Magic!

I have started making my own:

www.seriouseats.com/the-best-homemade-chocolate-dip-recipe

The added benefit is that you can use high quality chocolate!

No amazing blobby lid though 😞

TheShellBeach · 14/12/2022 15:51

Bird's Eye Crispy Cod Balls.

Enough said.

TheShellBeach · 14/12/2022 15:52

And proper old Bird's Eye Rissoles. Why did they stop making those? I could have lived on them, forever.

mscynical · 14/12/2022 15:52

@reesewithoutaspoon
Chocolate Lovely was my favourite pudding. Frozen dark chocolate (which was not hard) with blobs of frozen cream on the top which you could mix in with your spoon. I still dream of them.

Was with my mum about 3 months ago and we were both looking in the frozen desserts section when I said 'I want a Chocolate Lovely'. She agreed and said what a shame they were no longer 🙁

PurplePastaBake · 14/12/2022 15:53

Birds Hot Crunch Pudding. The custard that came with a sachet of crunchy topping.

mrsm43s · 14/12/2022 15:33

Pot rice - chicken supreme flavour
Entermann cakes - especially the carrot cake. Used to be able to get from Sainsburys in the late 90s/early 2000s. Can't get in the UK any more as far as I can see.

@mrsm43s

I think Entenmann's went out of business and was bought up and now even in the states it's a very limited selection. They used to make a vanilla cake with chocolate chips and a layer of light chocolate frosting in the middle and crumbs on top. Total junk, but so good.

MintyGreenDreams · 14/12/2022 15:55

Ready salted chipsticks! It must be less faff to male than salt n vinegar surely.

Secret bars.

Chocolate rich tea biscuits

What was in them, @TheShellBeach do you remember? I tried to recreate them once but it wasn't right. I remember pearly barley, sweet corn, peas, bread crumbs, seasoning - was there even meat in them?

Fundays12 · 14/12/2022 15:56

Cremola foam I loved it.

Footle · 14/12/2022 15:56

@NewToWoo , I'm getting delicious Coxes in Morrison's at the moment.

WiddlinDiddlin · 14/12/2022 15:56

Smiths Crisps - Chipsticks, the Ready Salted ones vanished, and nothing else compares.

Ditto... Cheese Moments - they still do the bacon fries and scampi fries but dropped the Cheese Moments a few years ago (I used to buy a box from wholesalers and make them last so didn't realise for ages they were no more!!)

Bernard Matthews Cheese Hamwich, with the slice of super cheesey fakey cheese on top. The new version has the cheese mixed through which I am sure is cheaper, but doesn't actually taste cheesey and in fact is just disgusting.

Ditto, original turkey twizzlers, whatever was in them was like crack. The new 'healthy' recipe is just disgusting.

Bananalanacake · 14/12/2022 15:56

Little Wafer balls with cheese in them, also a wafer cylinder, like a thick pencil with cheese in the middle. Can't remember who made them.

WiddlinDiddlin · 14/12/2022 15:57

Fundays12 · 14/12/2022 15:56

Cremola foam I loved it.

You can buy that on Amazon.

GentlemanJay · 14/12/2022 15:57

Lemon Vienetta.

MintyGreenDreams · 14/12/2022 15:57

@PepsiMaxAholic look in b&m,home bargains etc I'm sure they sell them in there

Facecream · 14/12/2022 15:58

Those of you saying Vesta food… it does still exist, to some extent.
On Amazon they have the Chow Mein which I absolutely lived for as a kid (I’m vegetarian for 15 years so sad they won’t make a vegetarian version).
They also have the beef curry.
I miss Beanfeast, which disappeared a couple of years ago.
I get my Rancheros when I go to Ireland and stock up (same with Snax, Hunky Dory’s King crisps, Galtee cheese).

JackieQueen · 14/12/2022 15:58

"Weekend" box of mixed chocolates and fruit flavoured candies, so much variety, not like today's mushy samey blobs!
Potato puffs of course, any flavour.

OhChristmasTreeOhChristmasTreeFaLaLa · 14/12/2022 15:58

Old Cadbury chocolate, ìt was so nice, it just has a weird taste/texture now, I won't buy it. Mars delight, I used to love them.

Sandy89xx · 14/12/2022 15:59

Zero gravity ... I used to live on the stuff as a kid... I'd love to find it again so my kids know what I'm on about
