I was remembering back when I was kid, my Nan would pick us up from school, and take us back to her house where we would have a small tea.

One thing we loved was tidgy puds and gravy. I was gutted when they stopped doing tidgy puds

@Dontsayyouloveme possibly a Mr Kipling? I remember a MrK chocolate sponge, quite dense, no filling, with a thick layer of chocolate on top.

M&S used to do a version of toast toppers that were amazing. A cheese and mushroom one and a cheddar and beer one. They also did a ready meal which was a broccoli and cheese bake. Sounds boring, was amazing. And their stuffed peppers. I've stuffed many peppers in an attempt to recreate. Never managed it.

Some of the Vesta meals are still available. Places like B&M and Home Bargains have them. I still treat myself to a sneaky chow mein with crispy noodles every so often.

Pacers - white minty opal fruits with a green stripe through them

Freshen up - chewing gum. Individually wrapped pieces with a liquid centre. The tubes were metallic green and blue

Walnut Whips - the proper ones

Terry's Neapolitans

Cadbury's Bournville chocolate bars - they came as two very thin bars wrapped together. The current Bournville is shit.

Terry's All Gold - the one with the chartreuse liqueur

Hang on - I've just noticed that all mine are chocolate-related... Grin

Shippams beef paste - this may exist but I haven't seen it recently, nor would my family allow it in the house, but I remember eating it for the first time at my junior school xmas party on a "posh" (to me) open sandwich, and thinking it must be the food of the gods Xmas Grin

Ryvita - yes , I know it’s still available but it bears no resemblance to the original 1970/ 80 s one. That tasted of rye, it stayed crisp, it was oddly ‘healthy’ looking and tasting; now Ryvita makes recycled cardboard look appetising.

I've just donated the last of the last packet I shall ever buy to the birds, and they aren’t showing much interest.
.

I agree. What on earth have they done to the recipe? They used to have a really good flavour.

stationroads · 14/12/2022 15:44

Basically every sweet item that hasn’t been destroyed by making them “healthy”. Especially CHOC DIPS!!! What has happened to those bad boys?? 😬

Talipesmum · 14/12/2022 13:44

Mint flavour choc ice magic.
You can buy similar stuff now but (1) it’s not as good and goes all horrible in the bottle (I presume whatever they put in ice magic to make it work is now banned!), and (2) it’s always salted caramel etc flavour, never mint. Also I miss the nice blobby lid.

You still get this in Australia 😃 my SIL moved there a few years ago and was absolutely delighted when she noticed it 😂

applesandpears33 · 14/12/2022 15:46

Angel delight - the original butterscotch flavour. It just isn't the same with sweeteners.

Cremola Foam - we loved this as kids but it isn't made any more.

@808Kate1

Yes!! That's mine.

Also, Toffos
