Is anyone awake? I’m expecting bad news and I can’t sleep

My dh is unwell and we have no idea what is wrong. We are getting scan results this morning but they were only to rule things out so probably not conclusive. However, I can’t see how this isn’t going to be something serious as he has declined so rapidly.

I feel sick. We’ve already lost most of his income through him being off work so I’m also worried sick about money. We have enough savings to manage another 2 months at the most.

My dc are already suffering, despite them
mot fully understanding how serious the symptoms are, as dh is pretty much housebound and I can’t physically drive them to all the clubs and places they need to go by myself.
I also work full time although thankfully I’m a teacher and break up this week.

My heart is broken just looking at him disappearing in front of me. The doctors are slow to take his symptoms seriously so sadly by the time he was sent to hospital he was already unable to work and very ill. It could of course be something very treatable but at the moment I feel suffocated with the fear of the worst case scenarios.
I am writing this as I’m lonely and scared and wondered if anyone is awake to say hello.

I have name changed in case anyone recognises me from this post. If you do, please don’t mention this as I am doing a great job of appearing strong on the outside.

Glad DH managed to get to MILs, but so sorry about ill DCs. Totally know what you mean about teens being cosy and lovely when they're ill.

Hope you manage to stay well of it (or them, suspect multiple viruses (viri??))

Honestly you are amazing for keeping chugging on, please don't lose sight off that, any 'moans' are completely justified

SoAndSoSaidSo · 22/02/2023 20:37

have been following and I'm very sorry there are no answers and he is not feeling better.

I also know a lot of tests has been done.

Has this been ruled out? I lost a lot of weight when had it years ago. I also was dizzy and could not stand much at all.

It's Just a thought, not to scare or say it is it.
Sending thoughts for some answers soon.

@SoAndSoSaidSo

Guillain-Barré Is actually on my list of conditions to mention to the consultant

@SoAndSoSaidSo thank you for the details though as I don’t just want to sound like I’ve been Googling things. My list is made up of conditions that people have suggested. The consultant is great but if it’s very rare it might not automatically pop into his head.

I don't think you should feel apologetic for googling /researching. I really wish I had done, it might have led me to my rare diagnosis much sooner rather than putting faith in doctors alone

SweetSakura · 22/02/2023 23:22

Also my lot really enjoyed ant man so I hope you are all better by the weekend and can enjoy a well deserved treat 😊

It being rare and symptoms differing between people makes it difficult, but they do have a set of tests.
I was very lucky that my MIL was not being fobbed off a 2nd time by the GP surgery and refused to leave until she saw the doctor. He by chance remembered it from training, even though he had never seen a case.

No need to ever apologise for looking out for your husband.

TheShellBeach · 24/02/2023 00:58

So three months later you still don't have a diagnosis?
I can't believe this.

SweetSakura · 24/02/2023 07:39

Really @TheShellBeach ? I can. It took 5 years from me first going to GP to get a diagnosis. And even when an optician had finally identified what it was it still took 3 months to get through all the tests and have a confirmed diagnosis.

Hope you are both doing OK mycake.

I can't believe this.

Why? My child had a noticeable limp / weakness in left leg from the day he first pulled himself to standing. 3 YEARS later despite seeing 16 different professionals for that and escalating symptoms that were systemic he was diagnosed with an autoimmune condition.

SweetSakura · 24/02/2023 11:46

That must have been a long tough battle niugboo

Mirabai · 24/02/2023 23:15

If he’s done a lumbar puncture and basic neurological tests that should have ruled out GB.

MyCake · 26/02/2023 22:37

MIL died today 😞 dh was there for nearly a week and he’s just got back. He looks dreadful.
