East Midlands- mushy peas and mint sauce

IToldYouAmillionTimesAlready · 12/12/2022 20:10

Nottingham. Salt and vinegar, bread and butter

Anothernameanother · 12/12/2022 20:11

South East - salt, vinegar, ketchup.

Matildahoney · 12/12/2022 20:11

South England.
Vinegar, mayo, mushy peas, curry sauce, gherkin, battered sausage

OldEnoughToHaveReadBunty · 12/12/2022 20:11

fifteenohfour · 12/12/2022 20:12

AriettyHomily · 12/12/2022 20:13

Kent - salt, vinegar and mushy peas, possibly a pickled onion

Saturdaydreamingway2355555 · 12/12/2022 20:13

West Yorkshire - scraps and chip shop curry sauce, and salt and vinegar ….. no one else has mentioned scraps?!

crabsaremisunderstood · 12/12/2022 20:15

I’m surprised at the amount of people north of Luton that have cited curry sauce. I thought past that point it would have been gravy through and through. I’m clearly uneducated!

Co Durham

Mushy peas, batter, salt and vinegar, bread and butter.

glamourousindierockandroll · 12/12/2022 20:15

North west. Ketchup or curry sauce.

Blueyismylife · 12/12/2022 20:16

Norfolk. Loads of salt and vinegar. I mean loads. And mushy peas, if they're the good ones, hate the watery little pots you get.

mydogisthebest · 12/12/2022 20:16

London - just vinegar.

I hate mushy peas. Curry sauce does not belong on chips but gravy is even worse. Do people really eat gravy with fried fish? That is just vile.

The obsession with gravy I will never understand. Why pour a liquid over crisp food making it mushy?

Wherediditallgo · 12/12/2022 20:17

Northern Scotland
Salt and vinegar

glamourousindierockandroll · 12/12/2022 20:18

Chips and gravy is delicious. Nice with a pie or sausage.

Gravy and fish - nope.

Wherediditallgo · 12/12/2022 20:18

And DH likes a pickled egg on the side.

OwlingAround · 12/12/2022 20:19

London.

Pickled onion, gherkin, maybe a bit of tomato sauce (ketchup) to dip the chips in.

No mushy peas or curry sauce allowed anywhere near.

Calm down love. Crikey!!!

Fifthtimelucky · 12/12/2022 20:22

Salt, vinegar and tartare sauce. If I was taking them home to eat I would add some peas (not mushy ones).

Somerset.

Sagaris · 12/12/2022 20:25

Essex - salt, vinegar and ketchup.

KeeefBurtain · 12/12/2022 20:25

East London

salt, pickled onion vinegar and red sauce, and a round of bread and butter.

(I don’t like fish so would swap it for a sausage in batter)

This. Wholeheartedly this.

All the vinegar and a pinch of salt only, also London

Blanketpolicy · 12/12/2022 20:26

West Coast Scotland.

Vinegar and salt (in that order) on the chips.

Salt on and thick tomato ketchup (definitely none of that vinegared down shite the east coast calls sauce) beside the fish. No vinegar on fish as it makes the battery soggy. I have never had mushy peas, curry sauce, pickled anything from the chippy!

RobinRobinMouse · 12/12/2022 20:27

SW, salt, vinegar, curry sauce and mayonnaise.
