Dettol Baths

Has anyone had a dettol bath? I saw it on TikTok last night and I've never heard of it before!

But so many people said they swear by them. I use it to mop. Never occurred to me to bath in it but I love the smell so I'm intrigued

Yes on a Sunday night we had a dettol bath as we had usually been playing outdoors all day. The rest of the time it was washing up liquid. I was born early 1970s.

My midwife told me to have a savlon bath for a couple of weeks after giving birth

Haven't had a dettol bath but I imagine it's pretty similar

We often used fairy liquid for bubble bath

I was a kid in the 7o’s and never had a dettol bath, but did have my hair washed with washing up liquid more than once.

Can I add the smell of Vosene shampoo to nice cleaning/medicinal smells?

I love a dettol bath, have one every week at least.

It's not the same dettol that you use for cleaning. I've also heard of it but never had it before

It’s just the normal, cleaning Dettol but it says on the front of the bottle that it’s ok to use in the bath.

We had them growing up in the 80s, simply because we’d be out all day and would come home covered in bumps and scrapes. I keep a bottle now as DH suffers from the occasional boil and it seems to heal them a bit faster.

I had forgotten all about this, i remember in the 80's having a dettol bath to disinfect me if I was unwell or had a bad knee.

CoffeandTiaMaria · 12/12/2022 18:08

Never.
<shudders> at the smell 🤢

Appreciate this is an old thread now, but was wondering if the lavender and orange dettol can be used in the bath like the original can, i miss the occasional dettol bath!

Ducksurprise · 07/02/2025 22:42

I imagine so, but then surely you will miss the lovely smell?

I have them and always did as a child.

Dettol is an antiseptic so will help clean and heal any cuts you have.

Too much of it can be harmful though, so you have to be careful not to pour too much in.

I always use it as disinfect too, as I think it must be safer for skin and paws to walk over than other chemicals.

You could achieve the same thing with Epsom salts. Much better for your skin.

ImOutOfTouch · 08/02/2025 12:04

I use the soap to wash in a lot.
