Petty things that annoy you on Mumsnet.

What little things on MN annoy you more than they should?

People responding to others on a thread but not quoting them so I have to scroll back pages and hunt for the comment that they were responding to.

People referring to 3 and 4 year olds as toddlers.

If someone's posts annoy me and their name involves something that I love, then that bothers me even more.

The one poster who always responds to a "What's your favourite episode of a show? or What's your favourite dish from the Chinese takeaway?or similar threads by informing us how much they hate takeaways or wouldn't watch said show if they had a gun held to their head.

The phrase "Give your head a wobble." It's utterly infuriating.

The D can stand for Dear or Dickhead.

Posters who don’t read a post before posting their own response. Example, I’ve broken down on the motorway, what do I do then the OP being at home with a cup of tea thanking everyone for their help. 25 pages in, multiple posts saying phone the AA.

The spelling and grammar police. Awful people who have no idea who is behind the keyboard. Dyslexia being just one example.

Trolls is another. Elaborate posts that are often of a sensitive nature. I just don’t get why you would.

Bumfuck Half-a-Horse Village, North Yorkshire

Best thing I've read on MN in years Grin

Alondra · 10/04/2023 08:05

Pages and pages of never ending off topic posts that have nothing to do with what the OP was asking or seeking advice for.

The whole D thing. DH, DD etc. It's just stupid. Grow up.

People constantly complaining about this is one of my gripes.

Well, it's fucking irritating! Just use H or P or cat, or whatever.

And I’ve actually never came back to correct someone’s grammar or how it is said or how things are spelt on mumsnet because that’s for the pedants corner.

The culprits would never visit Pedants' Corner. It can be helpful to realise how you're coming across, when you are writing for hundreds of thousands of people to read.

“Mumsnet is full of introverts..”

This bloody sentence.

Actually Mumsnet is full of extroverts saying “Oh mumsnet is full of those shitty introverts so don’t expect too much”

Honestly. Gets on my tits.
