Hi all, I’ve obviously name changed due to the content of the thread 😭

I thought I had a UTI about a month ago and was given three days worth of tablets from the pharmacy. Seemed better for a couple of weeks then my symptoms returned. I have a burning feeling down below that’s there most of the time but especially when I have to pee.

since then I’ve been back and forwards to the nurse eleventy billion times, we’ve tried thrush treatment, bv treatment, cystitis sachets. I’ve had a smear in the middle of it all and it came back fine. They’ve checked my bloods for diabetes and swabbed me for thrush and bv. During my swab for bv the speculum showed green discharge and the nurse was sure it must be bv but a weeks worth of antibiotics later and it’s still merrily burning away and the swab said no bv.

I had another visit to my new best friend the nurse today and she is stumped. She has sent away swabs for various Sti’s which I’m not sure of.

does anyone have any idea what I can do???? The only thing that has brought me any relief at all is a thin layer of hydrocortisone around the opening. But I can still feel the burning slightly.

please help!!!

See I read about the suggestion of probiotics online but what I couldn’t work out are they the little bottles of yoghurt? Actimel or what have you or actual tablets? If so which ones??

Get these, the probiotics go up your foof so in the area that needs them. I use this after thrush and it stops it from coming back

Matchingcollarandcuffs thanks for wishing me well. I will take all the luck I can get. Im
in pain 😭 if I have no luck with the dr next week I might try and get an appointment at the sexual health clinic.

Thanks for all your suggestions, I definitely will try them. I’m really hoping it’s not an std but I suppose then at least I would have an answer

Awful isn't it- if you are in your 40's could be Vaginal atrophy starting?

I’m so sorry for you, OP. You must be going out of your mind!

In other news, I’m 39 and sorry, but vaginal fucking WHAT?! And lichen sclerosis? Do you mean to say we can get mossy undercarriages like a Ford Escort up on bricks?!

This ageing malarkey is truly wonderful.

Long shot but check your toilet roll isn't scented. It causes crazy burning after a few days of using it for me. It's not always overly obvious that it's scented from the pack and sometimes my dh will buy it without realising only for me to realise a few days later when the burning starts 😅

MissPiggysPinkDress · 06/12/2022 21:22

Beware on using lidocaine cream if you have sore or split skin, will burn like a mofo! lidocaine cream is the best thing ever though for burning nerve pain. Your GP can prescribe it, or you can buy online

ehb102 · 06/12/2022 21:25

Aloe vera gel is my go to for unspecified causes down there. Moisturing and antifungal.

Good luck.

PinotPony · 06/12/2022 21:46

Much as it would pain you, it may be worth just leaving your foof alone for a bit. I kept getting recurring BV until my Gynae told me that all the antibiotics and creams I'd be shoving in my body were wrecking the vagina natural ph balance. He suggested lots of water, an oral probiotic and Balance Activ gel. Amazingly my symptoms cleared up after a week.

Could it be an allergy to canesten? I had this and the burning was worse than the initial thrush infection. I used coconut oil on the vulva to soothe the burning king and poured a bottle of water over my fanny whenever I needed to pee. After about a week it cleared up.

"The burning King!" AMAZING name you've got for your lady garden there!

ThisIsCringe · 06/12/2022 21:56

I appreciate leaving it alone may be more helpful! It’s just so stingy. I don’t have bv though so not Sure the balance activ stuff would suit me.

the burning king 😂😂😂

@ThisIsCringe
Look up Interstitial Cystitis

RandomMess · 06/12/2022 22:03

Peri anal strep A is a horrid skin infection which I don't think you have but I would ask has been ruled out.

hotchocolate6 · 06/12/2022 22:03

It's possible it could be chlamydia? I had it years ago and remember it caused burning/soreness and greeny discharge for me.

ThisIsCringe · 06/12/2022 22:12

Looking up all these suggestions! Will know if it’s chlamydia in the next few days. Waiting for results. Does anyone know if chlamydia can lie dormant for a while? If not then my OH has some explaining to do 😮

It's all just SO shit- I've been having itchy burny redness issues for well over a year- I AM late 40's though and I think I've pinned mine down to PH changes in peri-menopause. I'm now on Vagirux (oestrogen) pessaries and HRT and it's helped. But not before going through a bout of BV followed swiftly by a bout of thrush so vicious that I wanted to claw my own genitals off.
It really makes you unimaginably fucking miserable!
Ooh I just remembered someone on another post swears by Bepanthen nappy cream for things like this

CuriousEats · 06/12/2022 22:17

This sounds weird but live yoghurt on the foof is really soothing and cooling, and helps with thrush symptoms.

And These probiotics from Nutri Advanced contain Saccharomyces boulardii which is a probiotic strain of yeast that attacks the thrush yeast. Got rid of mine after 2 doses. Its expensive but so worth it!!

SoonToBeSwedeyMummy · 06/12/2022 22:19

Go get a full STD check just to be sure

CourtneeLuv · 06/12/2022 22:23

Was just about to say to put yoghurt on it.

I had papercut fanny a couple of times but sourced it to high blood sugar (without the doctors help). I also get it from scented loo paper.

I used coconut oil or sudocrem and ate right and it eventually sorted itself out. But fuck me, it's awful. Pissing was agony. You have my sympathies.

QueenBeex · 06/12/2022 22:24

I had this, my gp told me 3 times I did have bv. I done 3 rounds of antibiotics and still had the symptoms.
I actually didn't contact my gp again I just went to a sexual health clinic instead, and had an sti! A week later I was clear and back to my happy fanny self. My DP got tested and had the same sti, I got it from him as was tested prior to entering the relationship. The sexual health clinic did say he could of had it for a while as sometimes these things go unnoticed for years with no symptoms!

allthelittlelights · 06/12/2022 22:29

I highly rec the Actigel Gyneflor (cannot recall exact name). It's on amazon, white mini tubes with purple label.
You get 5. You squirt it high up before you go to sleep for 5 days. Important to get it really properly high up so it can work and try not to get up after if you can help it because it seemed to sting a bit at the entrance. Maybe use disposable gloves to put it on. Anyway, it is really very good.

Itssooooocold · 06/12/2022 22:30

Burning King just about sums it up. Good luck OP

pursuedbyablackdog · 06/12/2022 22:31

Do you have children or work with children? Thread worms can cause be a cause of a stinging vag.

pinkpotatoez · 06/12/2022 22:38

Sounds like chlamydia, obviously you'd know if that was a possibility. If not then have you changed laundry detergents, washed with soaps or washed 'upwards' with the water - drying it out? I had something similar however I have health anxiety, checked it out was nothing, finally stopped googling and obsessing and it went away! Your brain is powerful like that.

TheFairyCaravan · 06/12/2022 22:39

It sounds like Lichen sclerosus to me. Before I was diagnosed I used to lie on the bed, with no knickers on with an ice pack wrapped in a cloth between my legs. Now I use hydromol and steroid cream.

I don't know about lying dormant but you can be asymptomatic. So if it was DH, fingers crossed it isn't, he may not have the symptoms you have.

KnickerlessParsons · 06/12/2022 22:45

AmberGer · 06/12/2022 18:33

Have you used fragranced toilet tissue? Only asking as this happens to me when I do.

This. DH keeps buying it even though I ask him not to. Angry
